Nifty! Is it recolorable? My hippies, gypsies, Indian bus drivers, and retired sims want to paint it!

This is an excellent idea ! I got an awesome Hexameter Sim's Globetrotter caravan but it can't be furnished and that's very sad.

But a bus that can be furnished, that's a super great idea ! Thanks !

Re-editing because an important side-note : If as you suggested, people should use Numenor's CutDown Walls, they need the Scriptorium folder and should preferrably mention that they used those walls, esp. if they share a lot with the schoolbus. If they forget this important note for those specific walls, downloaders might have a lot crash.

Wow, thanks! Such a great idea. My next Sim will move in there!

A few recolors would be perfect.

I always look forward to create something that Everybody can do whatever they can dream of. Yes, it is recolorable and it will be the smallest recolor you ever done. It is a 64x64 texture that recolors all the bus. You will only face the task to match with walls texture but this is something everyone can do in Homecraft.
I suggested NocutdownWalls because I take pics from the streets as I mentioned before. You may use whatever wall you want because to play inside a closed object you will need to work with walls down anyway.
I have several recolors self but you can have fun with it, because for every recolor you will find out how many things you'll be matching.
Have fun!

This is a very creative object, and thank you for sharing it!

I have a particular interest in the bus as I have an unfinished project in the queue that uses the standard scale bus as a rabbit hole rather than over-scale building shell. But since then I've changed over to medieval mode, and there's not much demand for yellow school buses in that period.

I appreciate this project and I hope you don't mind if I contribute a few questions and comments:

1) The impact of the high poly count in EA's original object was neutralized to a large extent by distributing the polys over a large number of tiles, rather than converting the bus to a single tile object as in your project. This will affect the graphics performance of less capable machines.

2) Since the bus shell forms virtual walls for a residence, it would useful and realistic to disable repossesion and flammability in the Init.bhav, and also to enable the "stay behind" flag if a family moves out. We don't want the bus to run around naked!

3) I could not see a picture of how Sims actually access the interior, but perhaps modular stairs and an invisible door through the bus "doors" would do the trick?

4) Why not share the yellow wall colour and any shell recolours you have made with the community? The majority of players do not use either SimPE or Homecrafter, they simply want to play the game, and that's great in itself! (In fact I must confess that I've never myself created anything worth saving in Homecrafter - content creators too have their specializations)

Thanks again for sharing this shell, its too bad their aren't more of them because they really stimulate the imagination (such as jasonduskey's beautiful series of spaceships). Well done!

hi xptl297--i am excited to see your live-in bus! thanks. this makes for a better present day living space than a caravan and i can see this being adapted for RV living.

Hi Sophie. I didn't check this thread often because there was nothing posted before.
I was not worried about the way it could affect less capable machines because I only play it in my best computer. I didn't even try it in my smaller computers but I never had any problems with high poly objects. I don't like multi tiles objects because they use too many guids. If I distributed the bus into many tiles, it would lose the function of being just a virtual roof, to be something that would be on the way for the construction and cheats would be required to move it.
The access to the bus is simple modular stairs. I always use a double door created by Olemantiker (space project). The picture is not showing the access because it is on the other side of the bus, sorry.
I made only the yellow shell colour by the time I posted it and the yellow wall is game original.
I don't have any specialization, when I cannot find something I look for tutorials and learn how to make it self. Tried to contact some creators that post in "I take requests" but instead of taking my requests, they make requests to me.
I never posted that I take requests.

The bus and the train were just example of an idea. I have self playable caravans, ambulances, ufos, I have even a sim that lives inside a Hamburger.

Agreed with the Init file. Didn't think about it. Good suggestion.
