Update: This is really weird, but I had to uninstall the mod for my game to work so assumed that I had no way of using it. Yet when I went into Create a Sim today it was labeled as 'Insane' despite the mod being uninstalled. I'm glad it's back to it's old name, but this is a little weird. Did I miss something?

You must have the mod that i have said in the description wont work with it, thats the issue i had.

It shows up on my list of script mods when I load the game, but when I start playing I see that it's still "erratic". I even tried doing it with all of my other mods removed. Any ideas what might be going on? Any help would be appreciated.

Well, that file is thoroughly broken. Doesn't even open in S4pe and throws an error message no matter what you do with it. Looks like it's from a MAC.

Only uploaded on here with MAC, made with PC, why are you even trying to edit it?

This mod and the original trait name are NOT offensive. Insanity and Mental Illness are NOT the same thing. Mental illness covers a broad range of conditions including forms of anxiety and depression which we can all agree don't make someone crazy. Insanity refers to more severe conditions like schizophrenia. I don't know why people don't understand this difference, but it seems to be the cause of a lot of the offense in these situations.
As for making light of insanity, well the game makes light of a lot of things of a serious nature including death, so I don't see the problem there. And quite frankly it is making light of it simply by having the trait regardless of what it is called. We all know what the trait is supposed to be.

Furthermore, Erratic really does not describe a trait which involves having full on conversations with yourself, barking and hissing randomly, and having random gibberish moodlets. That is something more than being erratic. Sorry. I would have accepted a change to eccentric as being more appropriate, but they didn't use sense when they caved and changed a trait name that has been fine throughout the history of sims.

In short, thank you for this mod!

Not trying to start trouble, but I can't help myself with pointing out that whether or not something is offensive is kind of subjective. Like humor, in a way: not everyone thinks the same thing is funny, for example. Different things may or may not be offensive to others...for example myself being offended a bit by BOTH names for the "Insane/Erratic" trait (I'm mostly in agreement with what you said, "erratic" just doesn't fit and I hate the name change).

I happen to have schizophrenia and being lumped into a "crazy" or "insane" category bothers me personally, so I gotta admit I'm a little sad reading that someone thinks "Insanity refers to more severe conditions like schizophrenia". For many people with my condition it's used as an insult and used to demean us these days. Plus, it's 2018 and - regardless of political views - insane isn't really used to describe people with schizophrenia or similar disorders anymore by people working in healthcare, mostly psychiatry. Even my dentist doesn't think someone that's mentally ill is crazy or insane. In the Sims i love how they make light of everything, but it'd be nice if they'd at least try and be accurate with their words in official game patches. There's gotta be a more appropriate name for the trait while keeping a light-hearted spirit. Maybe "strange", "weird", or eccentric as you said!

Anyways, again, I'm not trying to start trouble. I just like to ramble sometimes and add input. Hope you have a pleasant day/night! Same to the mod author!!

the mod does work. the error message is because it also includes a mac os file. once you delete that its fine... so far. i'll leave you snowflakes to your bickering.

I've noticed modders doing that more and more lately. Putting the Mac file in. It got me the first time too, but I figured it out on my own when I took a closer look at my mod folder. I guess that means they've resolved some of the Mac issues I've noticed people having and are taking care of Mac users too. This is good I'm glad, buuuut...

I kind of wish modders would stop packaging it with the file and make it a separate download.
Hate having to remove extrenuous files from my mod folder after unzipping. I understand and respect read me files, but am especially annoyed by pictures(I saw them when I downloaded the mod, I don't need them in my mods folder, don't make me clean it out), but Mac files is a runner up. I understand it a bit more than pictures, maybe modders find this easier for some reason I don't understand. Still hate having to clean extra files I don't need out of my mods folder. It's a pet peeve.

First of all, I love this mod. Changing the insane trait to "erratic" was absolutely unacceptable to me. I want my sims to be insane, not erratic for god's sake.

Second of all, it doesn't seem to go all the way with the Seasons pack. With the introduction of holiday objectives there comes the addition of "[Sim] loves/ignores this tradition" and when that is the case, the reason still reads "From Being Erratic". Is it possible you'd add that bit into the fix as well?

Anyone with mental illness offended by the word "insane" must have a difficult time in this world... I've got a disorder but words like this don't bother me, because we need them to describe the process of, well, going insane. Please let's not go full Fahrenheit 451 and eliminate everything that offends people.
