After two real time years of winter I finally made it through my rotation and am in spring now. I was so glad, now you make me sad I left winter behind^^ Very nice work.

Thanks for this. I am totally an environmental/lighting mod junkie. I haven't used a snow replacement before, but you're right—EA's is weirdly, blindingly white. Really looking forward to seeing yours!

For those of you that are saying that this is "better" it literally looks the same as the EA version and not worth downloading. It could be better.

Either the override of package folder should work! I've always tested it in my package folder, but for the sake of organisation, I'd suggest putting it in your override folder

hrm it's more of a retouch, that's true. The colours are a tad less whiter than EA's, I've fixed a few bug fixes (See the porch for example). However, the snow does come with an entirely new texture, which is also 2k. (Ea's wasn't) Now, retexturing snow is... an interesting one. Because snow by itself doesn't *necessarily* have a texture to begin with. Here are the textures:

EA'S default snow texture:

This replacement's Snow texture:

So mine just indeed has more details added to it, whereas EA's is just more flat . Now I do get that at first glance you can't really see it since over time I lowered the contrast and highlights by a lot...

Here are version 1 and 2 I made before deciding the currently uploaded one looked better:

I could always release one of those versions though in the future! So that people who want a somewhat 'harder' texture of snow, can actually get it.  So if any of you would like such a thing, I'd love to know!

So nice to come back to the game after so many years, and discover that the community still adds to, and improves the game. This just made my day!

Thanks! I follow the IRL seasons in my game, so there will be winter and snow for a couple of months. I love how much better the snow looks with this texture. :bunny:

At night or if it's cloudy it can be difficult to see the difference because then the lighting is more flat. But you can easily see it when it's sunny.

Hi! I have a question. I used to play with this mod months ago and worked just fine, also I played with shaders and I didn't found any issues. But since i had to clean my entire pc, everytime I put this mod in my game it just doesn't work! I already tried to put it on the overrides and packages folder, even the two of them at the same time, but it keep on the EA's textures. I already tried everything I could, I even stoped playing with shaders times ago to check if I can solve this problem, but it keeps the same way. My pc is have kinda low specs, but I never had any issues playing with this before, as I said. I would be very happy if you could help me with that issue, since I love playing with your snow textures! c:

My game generally dont like the winter, it lags a bit. Would this mod make that easier on my game rendering the winter climate or would it make it work even harder and therefore more lag?

Sorry for the late reply, @Ubercuber123 !

Generally speaking, you'll probably not find any performance chance in this mod. I have looked into whether I can help the lag a bit but the only advice I can give (which is both for this mod and EA snow) is to make sure that it doesn't snow in your game.

For me, despite having a relatively good computer, it really seems to lag a lot when it's actively snowing. And that makes sense, really! The game has so many particles that it needs to render that, on a game that can only handle about 3-4GB of memory, is quite something!

Testing cheats can help you stop snow (and then you can decide to update the snow level), that's what I do when playing the game, which does really help!

Thank you for your response. Don’t worry about late reply, any time is a good time in my book . I see! Might check out this mod then! I use your smaller version that just fixes the glitchy snow texture currently.

Didnt know you could stop it with testingcheats before, might use that if it gets super laggy. Right now I use a tuning mod which reduces how much it rains and snows so while it still lags some when it snows, thankfully since it doesnt snow 24/7 in winter with that mod its at least manageable.
