Ultimate Villa - My Critique
The house's title of "ultimate" is certainly befitting, given its wide array of amenities. It's a big house with big dreams, and in the goal of allowing residents to "live not just in the lap of luxury - but above luxury," it has thoroughly succeeded. However, certain features, or lack thereof, have left me wanting.

What I Dislike:
  • The house's overall exterior. Upon first glance, my eyes are drawn to the columns positioned at the house's entrance, quickly being guided upwards to the oddly-bare gable roof. The house is mansion-sized, but as far as the shape is concerned, it resembles a smaller home that has been scaled up. For instance, instead of using columns, the house's entrance could've been extended, adding more depth and variety to the overall shape.
  • The landscaping appears to have been an afterthought due to the random assortment of plants on the lot. Sticking to a few choice plants (trees, bushes, and flowers) would've made the build more cohesive. The green patches of lawn near the house's entrance would be a great place for additional greenery.
  • The choice of windows. Combined with the basic layout and large size, the villa's massive walls dwarf the comparably small windows, making the house look especially plain from the outside.
  • (Misc. nitpicks) The playground equipment should be moved to the backyard over by the seesaw, the main staircases would've looked better if 2 tiles wide, the strip of carpeting that bisects the arcade area should be changed back to the original arcade carpet, and the model train room would be better off if its flooring was plain wood with a green rug.

What I like:
  • The rooms are properly-sized and well-proportioned. It's common that when simmers start building larger houses, the resulting rooms of said homes are often large and empty-looking. However, no rooms here seemed too large or too empty (except the pet room/closet/????/room with sleeping bag and b2 floor).
  • It really is ultimate. As I mentioned above, this house both promises and delivers a lot. The wide variety of hobby and skill items, as well as the high bedroom count, make this home great for long-time legacy players who don't know what to do with their huge stacks of simoleons.
  • The layout is simple and works well. Sure, long hallways aren't the most exciting, but I have seen a surprisingly high amount of houses where one would, say, need to walk through a bathroom to get to one of the bedrooms.
  • (Misc. compliments). The shape of the pool with the bar and water slide is awesome, the house is large enough to work well with the Late Night celebrity gate, and the stair area (on both floors 1 and 2) gives it that signature luxury feel.

My main piece of general advice would be to study from references. What do Spanish-style mansions look like? What features make them work? Also, creating an appealing exterior should be your first priority before you start planning the house's layout. Overall, this is a decent build with a nice interior, but the exterior needs a facelift in order to do the inside justice.
