Blast from the past! I've been nostalgic about the original Sims game lately and decided to create a TS1-themed neighborhood in TS2. Mostly, I longed to have the Goth Sr. home in my game; you know, that awesome manor that came with The Sims Unleashed? I probably spent more time playing there than any other home in the game.
I am not the first to recreate this home. A nice website,
Genensims, has recreated the original Sims neighborhood terrain and built many of the first game's iconic homes. The author of the site admittedly made creative alterations to the homes featured, and the Goth Sr home did not look accurate enough to me. So, I sought out to recreate it myself.
I have decorated and furnished the property as close to the original as possible, while using as little custom content as possible. If you want more content directly from TS1: Here is a
link to a TS1-TS2 conversion database hosted on Livejournal. You can find the original game's
wallpapers,
ornate iron fencing,
hitching post, and the
Unleashed lamp post.
There are no gravestones yet, but I have placed decorative statues as a placeholder. Perhaps it is time to
kill off the Goth Sr.'s and move in Mortimer, Bella, and Cassandra..
Enjoy!!!
