Skates for kids and adults, you can find the skates in the Decoration(Misc) tag and the Outdoor Activity tag.

3 NEW Options: Put on Roller Skates/ Put on Ice Skates/ Take off Skating Shoes

After putting on the skates, the skates won't be taken off autonomously except traveling to another lot, the walking style would be changed and you have to take off the shoes before swimming or your sims would swim wearing the skates.

The skates could be put in the sims' inventory and be carried around, the 'put on/put off' interactions are available in the inventory, you don't have to place it in the world to use it.

As the animation is designed for the skating rink, it not sticking to the ground perfectly, but it looks fine to me.
