There are plenty of amazing historical-themed mods for The Sims 4—from the grandeur of the Royalty Mod to the swoon-worthy drama of Regency Romance. But you know what I noticed? A distinct lack of medieval-themed jobs. So, instead of scouring the internet for the perfect mod, I did what any sensible simmer with no self-control would do: I locked myself away for three days and created Echoes of the Feudal Age—possibly the most hilariously slapdash historical mod ever forged.

This mod adds a whopping 22 careers, with 12 of them branching off into multiple paths—because who doesn’t love a little medieval career indecision? On top of that, there are 8 new aspirations to help your Sims embrace their feudal destiny. And... there’s also a trait! Well, kind of. It was supposed to unlock after reaching a certain job level, but—spoiler alert—it didn’t work. So, uh, enjoy that little quirk!

Now, let’s dive into the fun stuff: the careers themselves.

1. Entertainment
Your Sim is just starting their career in entertainment, performing simple tricks, telling stories, or singing for small crowds in the market or taverns.

The Entertainment career is where it all begins for aspiring bards and jesters, providing a humble start with gigs in the bustling market or the local tavern. At the first level, your Sim will entertain the masses with basic tricks and tales of faraway lands—just enough to earn a few coins and build their reputation.

Branching Paths:

Bard – Master of music and poetry, your Bard will perform for nobility, weaving tales that echo through history.

Jester – If making people laugh (or groan) is more your thing, the Jester will find their niche in courts and festivals, keeping the crowd entertained with slapstick humor and chaotic antics.

Let the performance begin!

2. Sailing Life
The call of the sea is irresistible, offering freedom, adventure, and riches to those bold enough to face its challenges. The ocean doesn’t discriminate—whether noble or common, outcast or adventurer, everyone has a chance to make their fortune upon the waves. Will you steer your course toward lawful trade and discovery, or succumb to the lure of piracy and plunder?

In the Sailing Life career, your Sim will brave the high seas, charting new waters and facing the ever-present threat of stormy weather—or other ships with less-than-friendly intentions. Whether your Sim seeks to explore distant lands or pursue treasure at the edge of the map, this career path is full of adventure.

Branching Paths:

Merchant Seafarer – Choose the path of the law-abiding trader, bringing goods and riches to port, and establishing your legacy in the world of commerce.

Pirate – If the thrill of the open sea and the promise of plunder calls to you, embrace the lawless life of piracy and become a terror of the oceans.

Set sail for fortune, or face the consequences of life on the run!

3. Bottom of Society
At the bottom of society, these Sims have few choices. Their jobs often involve manual labor, begging, or working in dangerous or unsavory places. They must rely on their grit and determination to survive, but they also have the chance to scrape their way out of poverty and perhaps even find some small measure of respect.

In this career, your Sim starts at rock bottom, where every day is a struggle just to get by. Whether they’re begging for food or risking their life catching rats, it’s all about survival. But with enough grit, determination, and a touch of luck, they might just claw their way up the social ladder.

Sometimes the only way is up... or at least away from the rats.

4. Bureaucrat
The bureaucracy is the lifeblood of the kingdom, ensuring the flow of taxes, laws, and royal decrees. Bureaucrats may not hold swords or plows, but their quills are just as powerful. From humble clerks to influential advisors, those in this career must navigate politics, paperwork, and the demands of nobles and peasants alike. Success requires a sharp mind, loyalty, and the ability to handle the kingdom's many complexities.

In the Bureaucrat career, your Sim will learn the ins and outs of the kingdom’s inner workings, handling everything from taxes to royal mandates. While this path might not be as thrilling as sword fighting or treasure hunting, it’s a crucial role that keeps the wheels of the kingdom turning. Navigating political intrigues and paperwork may be a chore, but for those with the right skills, the rewards can be immense—just don’t expect much excitement.

Here’s how we can present the Child Peasant career:

5. Child Peasant
The Child Peasant works alongside their family, learning the basics of farm life from a young age. While not yet strong enough to take on full labor, they help with small tasks such as gathering firewood, feeding animals, or tending to younger siblings. Life for a peasant child is one of simplicity and hard work, with little time for play, but a strong sense of community and familial duty. Education is scarce, and most peasants only learn through practical experience.

In the Child Peasant career, your Sim will experience the simple yet demanding life of a peasant child. Though they are not yet old enough for full labor, they still contribute to the family’s work, taking on small but essential tasks that keep the household running. From gathering firewood to feeding the animals, these kids learn by doing, with little time for leisure.

Career Details:
At this stage, your Sim’s focus is on helping around the farm and learning the value of hard work. Their world is small, but the lessons they gain will shape them for the rest of their life. Playtime is a luxury, and their education comes not from books, but from practical experience and a deep sense of duty to family and community.

Life may be hard, but it’s the foundation for a life well-lived.

6. Cleric
The Cleric career offers a spiritual journey filled with discovery, service, and devotion. Starting as a humble student of the divine, your Sim will learn sacred texts, healing arts, and rituals as they explore their calling. Over time, they may choose a path that aligns with their beliefs and skills—serving as a community priest, joining a contemplative monastery, preserving ancient traditions as a keeper of the old ways, or defending the faith as an inquisitor.

The Cleric career takes your Sim on a journey of faith, learning, and service. Starting as a novice acolyte, they will dedicate themselves to studying sacred texts, performing rituals, and learning the arts of healing. As they grow in knowledge and faith, they’ll be faced with a crucial decision: Which path will they take?

Career Paths:

Novice Acolyte – At the beginning, your Sim is a humble learner, studying the divine and preparing for their eventual calling.

Priest – Choose the life of a community servant, guiding villagers, offering counsel, and performing religious ceremonies.

Inquisitor – For those with a sharper edge to their faith, the inquisitor will hunt down heretics and “unbelievers,” enforcing religious law. (Inquisitors will, of course, want to arrest any Keeper of the Old Ways they come across—religious purity and all that.)

Keeper of the Old Ways – For those who reject the newer faiths, the Keeper of the Old Ways preserves ancient pagan traditions and rituals, often clashing with inquisitors.

Monastic Career – If solitude and reflection call to you, the monastic path offers a quiet life devoted to prayer, contemplation, and the pursuit of divine enlightenment.

Whether as a priest leading the village, an inquisitor hunting heretics, a Keeper safeguarding ancient ways, or a monk seeking peace, the Cleric career shapes both your Sim’s life and the spiritual fabric of their world. Choose your path wisely, for it will affect not just your Sim’s destiny, but the legacy they leave behind.

7. Commander
For Sims who thrive on leadership, strategy, and the thrill of battle, the commander career is the ultimate test of tactical genius and charisma. Starting as a low-ranking officer, your Sim will climb the ranks through cunning battlefield maneuvers and inspirational leadership. This career is ideal for those who wish to shape the fate of armies, lead troops to victory, and solidify their legacy as a brilliant tactician.

In the Commander career, your Sim starts as a soldier learning the ropes of military service, but with each passing level, they will gain experience and rise through the ranks. After four levels of general training, your Sim will be faced with a choice: will they pursue the life of an Army Commander, charging into battle and leading their troops on the front lines, or will they take the quieter yet no less important role of a Tactical Commander, sitting back and guiding their forces with clever strategies and plans?

Career Paths:

Army Commander – Leading from the front, the Army Commander fights with their soldiers, inspiring bravery and leading them into battle. They may face the chaos of war up close, but the glory (and danger) is theirs.

Tactical Commander – The Tactical Commander stays out of the fray, focusing on battle strategies, troop movements, and planning the next victory from the safety of their command tent. They may not wield a sword, but their intellect and foresight win the day.

Whichever path you choose, the Commander career is all about leadership, strategy, and the ability to make life-and-death decisions that affect the course of history.

8. Craftsman
In a world where skilled hands create the very tools and goods that keep society running, the Craftsman career offers a path of artistry, labor, and craftsmanship. Starting as an apprentice, your Sim will learn the basics of their trade and work their way up to becoming a master in their chosen craft. Whether shaping wood, forging metal, or creating fine fabrics, each craft requires dedication, skill, and a bit of creativity.

The Craftsman career offers a wide range of paths, allowing your Sim to choose from several different trades as they refine their skills and grow their reputation. From humble beginnings as an apprentice, they will eventually specialize in one of six traditional crafts.

Career Paths:

Carpenter – Whether building furniture or constructing entire buildings, the carpenter shapes wood with precision and skill. Their creations are both functional and beautiful, from rustic furniture to towering structures.

Blacksmith – For those who work with iron and steel, the blacksmith forges weapons, armor, tools, and more, using fire and hammer to shape metal into something useful and powerful.

Potter – The potter molds clay into everyday essentials or decorative works of art, transforming raw material into beautiful and functional pieces for the home.

Beer Brewer – For the Sim who prefers brewing to crafting, the beer brewer creates refreshing ales and hearty brews, becoming the pride of the local tavern.

Candle Maker – With a steady hand, the candle maker brings light to the world, producing candles for homes, temples, and feasts, each one crafted with care.

Tailor – Skilled with needle and thread, the tailor creates fine clothing and textiles, from everyday garments to luxurious outfits for both nobles and commoners.

Each path is built on the foundation of hard work and dedication, and with enough skill and reputation, your Sim can become a true master of their craft.

9. Knight

Step into the shoes of a knight, embarking on a journey filled with rigorous training, noble service, and daring adventures. The knight career begins humbly as a page and evolves through the ranks of squire to the prestigious title of knight, culminating in opportunities to lead as a knight commander or dedicate oneself to holy quests as a knight of virtue. This career is designed to reflect the chivalry, honor, and skills required of a true knight.

In the Knight career, your Sim begins as a humble page, learning the ropes of knightly service and preparing for the day they will earn their spurs. As they progress, they will rise through the ranks, gaining experience and proving their worth in battle and service. There are no branches here—just pure, unadulterated knighthood, with each level marking a new stage in your Sim’s journey to becoming a true defender of the realm.

Career Levels:

Page – As a young servant, the Page learns the basic skills of knighthood, from etiquette to swordplay, and assists the knights in their daily duties.

Squire – The Squire is an apprentice to the knights, learning to fight, care for horses, and serve in battle. They begin to take on more responsibility, though they are still learning the ways of the knight.

Knight Errant – Now a fully fledged knight, the Knight Errant roams the land, taking on quests, defending the weak, and earning their reputation as a valiant warrior.

Knight of the Realm – At the pinnacle of knighthood, the Knight of the Realm is an esteemed member of the noble order, sworn to protect the kingdom and uphold its laws with honor, strength, and loyalty.

The life of a knight is not an easy one, but with courage and dedication, your Sim can rise to become a hero of the realm.

10. Mercenary
For those who value gold over honor, the Mercenary career offers an adventurous and dangerous path where strength and cunning are your greatest allies. As a mercenary, you fight for profit rather than loyalty, hiring out your skills to the highest bidder. From lowly thug-for-hire to leading your own band of warriors, this career is perfect for Sims who prefer a life of independence, battle, and coin.

The Mercenary career is all about fighting for the highest bidder, with no allegiance to king or country—just cold, hard cash. Whether your Sim is a brute-for-hire or a shadowy figure slipping through the night, this career offers two distinct paths, each filled with danger, gold, and the chance to carve out their own legacy.

Career Paths:

Warlord – As a Warlord, your Sim will rise from hired muscle to a respected leader of mercenaries. They’ll command armies, lead raids, and take on high-profile contracts, all while amassing wealth and influence.

Shadow Blade – The Shadow Blade is a master of stealth, specializing in assassination and espionage. Your Sim will use their skills to eliminate targets quietly and efficiently, operating from the shadows and earning coin through covert operations.

The Mercenary career is not for the faint of heart, but if you can survive the battlefield or the shadows, there’s wealth and power to be gained. Who needs honor when you have gold?

11. Merchant
Merchants are vital figures in medieval societies, dealing in goods, trade, and wealth. As a Merchant, your Sim will begin by selling simple goods in the market and gradually expand their business to control larger, more lucrative markets. With time, they can become influential figures, dealing with rare treasures, exotic products, and vast trading networks. Merchants are known for their shrewd negotiation skills and their ability to bring valuable resources to the people, often influencing both local economies and international trade.

In the Merchant career, your Sim will start by selling humble goods in the local market, learning the ins and outs of trade and customer relations. But as they rise through the levels, they’ll expand their business empire, dealing in rarer and more exotic goods, and perhaps even controlling major trade routes. A sharp mind, keen negotiation skills, and a bit of ambition are all a merchant needs to amass wealth and influence.

12. Noble Lady

They are expected to always look their best, keep their estates running smoothly, and build relationships with other nobles. While they may not have the same career-driven pursuits as other Sims, their influence is no less powerful, often shaping society through their social gatherings, alliances, and the well-being of their families.

The Noble Lady career doesn’t follow traditional levels, but instead revolves around the power of social connections and personal reputation. Noble Ladies gather once a week for exclusive meetings—opportunities to socialize, share gossip, and strengthen bonds with other influential families. These meetings are a key part of maintaining a noble’s status and influence, as well as ensuring their family’s legacy endures.

Their primary focus is on education, etiquette, and preparing for their eventual responsibilities as future noble ladies or wives. Their lives are shaped by the expectations of high society, where grace, charm, and knowledge are essential.

The Noble Maiden career revolves around the intense education and refinement that prepare these young women for the important roles they will play in the future. Once a week, Noble Maidens attend the prestigious Noble Maidens’ School, where they are taught the skills and manners that will serve them throughout their lives—diplomacy, decorum, music, languages, and much more.

Career Details:

No levels – The Noble Maiden doesn’t follow a traditional career path; instead, her progression comes through education and the refinement of skills, preparing her for her eventual transition to adulthood and her role as a future noble lady.

14. Noble Meetings
Nobility is a world of prestige, influence, and responsibility. From humble beginnings as a landholder to earning the grand title of Duke or Duchess, this path is one of diplomacy, tradition, and political maneuvering. Your Sim’s success depends on their ability to manage relationships, attend exclusive meetings, and rise through the ranks of the noble hierarchy to secure their family’s legacy.

The Noble Meetings career doesn’t follow the traditional path of advancement but instead revolves around the idea of securing titles, managing relationships, and attending exclusive gatherings to increase your Sim’s influence and position within society. The ranks are steep, and while it may be nearly impossible to reach the highest titles through pure merit alone, there are many ways to acquire titles—through "inheritance," military conquest, or other roleplaying avenues.

Career Details:

No traditional levels – Nobles don’t climb through levels the way other Sims do. Instead, they attend weekly Noble Meetings, where they can build alliances, gain influence, and, most importantly, acquire prestigious titles through strategic moves.

Weekly Meetings – Every week, nobles meet in exclusive gatherings to socialize, negotiate, and exchange favors. The key to success lies in managing relationships and rising through the ranks.

Titles & Ranks – Starting as a humble lord/lady, your Sim can rise through the ranks of nobility, eventually reaching high positions like Duke/Duchess, Marquis/Marquise, and beyond. However, titles are often earned in unconventional ways—such as inheritance, military achievement, or political maneuvering.

Note: It is virtually impossible to honestly rise through the noble ranks without using cheats or roleplaying specific circumstances, such as inheriting a title, acquiring it through military merit, or leveraging family connections. (Litteraly get your chosen level by MC command centre)

15. Owned Land
Owning land is one of the most prestigious and profitable endeavors in medieval society. As a landowner, your Sim will receive income from the villages they own, collecting resources, taxes, and rent to increase their wealth. The more land you own, the greater the profits—but with power comes responsibility, as your Sim will need to manage their holdings and maintain the loyalty of the people who live there.

In the Owned Land career, your Sim doesn’t follow a traditional career path, but instead grows their wealth and status by acquiring land and collecting income. Once a week, they will visit their holdings to gather money, ensuring that their lands are productive and profitable. The more villages they own, the greater the returns, but also the higher the potential challenges in managing them.

Career Details:

Weekly Collection – Once a week, your Sim will spend two hours visiting their owned land to collect income from the villages under their control. This will include taxes, rent, and resources.

Levels – As your Sim acquires more villages, they will rise through the levels of land ownership. Each new level represents the addition of another village to their holdings, with a corresponding increase in the amount of money collected.

Owning land is a symbol of wealth and influence, and the more land your Sim acquires, the more they can rise in power. However, keeping these villages profitable will require careful management and occasional attention to the needs of the peasants under their control.

16. Peasants
While peasants may never achieve the wealth or status of the nobility, they play a crucial role in supporting the kingdom’s economy. Many dream of a better life, but few manage to rise above their station, and most remain bound by the constraints of their social class. Life for a peasant is one of hard work, modest means, and a constant struggle for survival, but it is also a life filled with community and family bonds.

In the Peasants career, your Sim begins with the simplest of lives, working the land and doing the backbreaking labor that supports the kingdom. While peasants may never rise to the heights of the nobility, their importance in sustaining the economy cannot be understated. The career follows a simple progression, emphasizing the tough, humble life of a peasant, where survival and family take priority over wealth and prestige.

17. Scholars
The Scholar career is for Sims who thirst for knowledge and seek to shape the world with their intellect. From students at prestigious schools to experts in various fields, this career allows your Sim to pursue knowledge, discovery, and intellectual influence. Whether your Sim will learn, teach, and contribute to the intellectual fabric of society.

Children from noble families are sent here to receive a comprehensive education in politics, diplomacy, military strategy, and leadership. The academy also provides training in combat, horseback riding, and etiquette, ensuring that young nobles are well-rounded and prepared for their future roles as heirs to their family's titles.

As a young noble, your Sim’s education begins at the Noble Academy for Young Nobles. 21. Underworld Pursuits
Not every path to fortune is paved with honesty. In the shadows of medieval society lies a world of risk and reward, where rules are broken and opportunities are seized by those daring (or desperate) enough. Whether through charm, cunning, or ruthlessness, Sims in the Underworld Pursuits career carve out their place in a dangerous and often illegal world, where every success brings them closer to power—and every mistake could be their last. This career is about survival, exploiting weaknesses, and capitalizing on the seedy side of society. For Sims who aren’t afraid to take the low road, there are plenty of ways to rise to the top—if they’re clever enough.

Starting as a Desperate Opportunist, your Sim will begin by looking for illegal jobs, taking whatever they can get to survive. As they become more experienced and skilled in the ways of the underworld, they can choose to specialize in one of several risky, morally questionable professions.

Career Details:

Levels:

Desperate Opportunist – The starting position in which your Sim searches for illegal or underground work. They may take on low-risk, low-reward jobs, but their aim is simply survival.

Specialized Paths – After mastering the basics of the underworld, Sims can choose one of several career paths, each offering its own risks and rewards:

Courtesan – Using charm and allure, the Courtesan offers their services to nobles or the wealthy. With skill and experience, they can rise in status and wealth. After becoming particularly skilled, they can take on more prominent roles in society.

Brothel Madam – A Courtesan can rise to become the head of a brothel, managing other workers and running a successful enterprise, though it comes with its own set of dangerous challenges.

Luxury Prostitute – In rare cases, the most beautiful and talented courtesans may become luxury prostitutes, offering their services to the highest bidders. However, this role often fades with time, as youth and beauty can be fleeting.

Bandit – The Bandit chooses a more violent path, robbing travelers, raiding caravans, and living on the edge of society. It’s a life of constant danger, but also potential for great rewards.

Smuggler – The Smuggler deals in illegal goods, moving contraband and trading in items that are too dangerous (or illegal) for legitimate markets. Their work is clandestine and requires skill in avoiding law enforcement.

Fortune Teller (Fraud) – As a Fortune Teller, your Sim pretends to possess mystical powers, offering fake predictions and advice to the gullible. They may become very skilled at tricking people and making a living off their lies.

The "Graduated" Trait

Ah, yes, the infamous "Graduated" trait! In theory, this was supposed to be a badge of honor for Sims who successfully completed their studies at the Noble Academy for Young Nobles. The idea was simple: after graduating, your Sim would automatically gain this trait, which would represent their polished education, impeccable etiquette, and readiness to take on the world of nobility. It was meant to unlock certain social interactions, give a slight boost to Charisma and Logic skills, and provide some extra respect from other Sims (because nothing screams classy like, “Look at me, I went to Noble School!”).

But, alas, Sims 4 modding had other ideas. Despite the grand intentions, the trait stubbornly refused to appear after completing the academy. Whether it was a coding hiccup, a misbehaving buff, or just the universe saying, "Not today," it simply didn’t work.

So now? You might need to add it manually using cheats or pretend your Sim magically gained all that refined wisdom and charm without needing a trait to prove it. It's the modding equivalent of, "The dog ate my homework." You can also add this in CAS XD.
