Pondering The Sim2 Flying Pig

Date Posted: 20th Apr 2007 at 12:24 AM

I've seen a lot of people have still been wondering if something triggers the Flying Pig's appearances or if it's just a random thing.

Well, if it is triggered, there are two things I think it might be related to - editing community lots (particularly if you add buy mode objects, but not sure if it's a particular object) or having a sim achieve a Lifetime Want.

As for the former, myself and a few people on forums have said they've had pigs appear after editing community lots, and that it seems to mostly happen after adding things with buy mode, rather than build mode.

As for the latter, the other day I had Pig appear in one of my neighbourhoods after a sim in that 'hood achieved a lifetime want. I wasn't sure if it was connected, so I thought I should try my luck and see if I could jolt it. I started a new neighbourhood - clean slate - then I made some simmies to fill it up. I laboured over one of my sims who aspired to reach the top of the adventurer career and got her there. Saved. Exited to neighbourhood. And a few minutes later, when I was adding some trees to my barren new neighbourhood, the pig appeared. So I tried it again with the aforementioned sim's husband. After exiting the lot? Pig. Three Platinums & three pigs.
Now, since I've only found three near instances of LifeTime Wants and Flying Pigs, I can't say this is conclusive evidence of any correlation - but it's something we can ponder.

To top it off, it seems that there's another phenomenon to consider: the water tower's attractiveness to the Pig.
A lot of people (myself included) have found that the Pig always flies towards, beside, and/or even through the water tower neighbourhood decoration if you have one in your neighbourhood.

But anyway, let me know if any of this matches up for you and maybe we can work it out once and for all!
