Got it working again, but...

Date Posted: 7th Oct 2017 at 12:13 AM

I uninstalled Origin, and then reinstalled it again. It worked! So I got a few weeks of Sim time.

Then Origin wanted to update.

It did the same f***ing thing as before. Internet connection lost. Game won't play.

This is NOT good enough. I can't uninstall and reinstall Origin every time the stupid thing needs an update! Give me a break.

Better yet, give me my money back. I shouldn't have to pay to get a headache from this piece of crap software.

EDIT: So now Origin won't install at all. Error code 9.0. A common problem, apparently, but seemingly one without a solution. EA really doesn't seem to care about making playable games...

Guess I'm done with The Sims. (Can't play TS2 either, now, since it's all linked through that stupid Origin garbage.)

Well, that's the end of that!

You know, it's just not fun to play a game when you have to spend hours troubleshooting just to get the stupid thing to open. I tried to play TS4 yesterday, and Origin started to update. Then it choked. It said I had no Internet connection. Um... you were in the middle of an update, so how is that possible? Now, every time I try to open Origin (even after restarting my computer), I'm hit with the same message:

Origin installation requires an internet connection, but we were unable to connect to the internet. Please check your connection and try again.

Right... so when I was searching for possible fixes over my Internet connection, I was just pulling data out of the air with my mind?

I don't know how to fix this, and I'm tired of troubleshooting. You shouldn't have to get a degree in computer science to surf the web and play a few games!

TS4 kind of sucks...

Date Posted: 30th May 2017 at 9:01 PM

Okay, so I'm not playing with the best hardware. I'm not about to go buying a new computer just to play TS4, though... and based upon what I've seen some other players say, it might not make that much of a difference.

After 2 generations, my game has slowed to the point where it's basically unplayable. Every time I tell my Sims to do something, they just stand there for at least 30 seconds (real seconds... not Sim seconds). Sometimes the action drops out of their queue before they even get around to doing anything. I've searched for solutions and tried a couple of mods, but nothing really helps. Even playing with absolutely no CC doesn't make it any better; in fact, the only CC I've even tried are a few mods to try to speed things up.

It makes me long for the days of TS2. I mean, I like the TS4 animations and the graphics (even in laptop mode) are pretty cool. And the toddlers are so cute! But... I miss being able to run the game on high speed, having my Sims respond pretty much immediately, and not have the clock reset all the time (what is up with that, anyway? It's like the game loses its mind if you run it too fast).

You'd think after TS4 being out for years, it would run a lot better than it does. It kind of proves to me that, for EA, it's not about providing a fun game; it's just about making money. Once they've got yours, they don't really care if your product doesn't work as advertised.

The Sims 4... Yes, I went there.

Date Posted: 9th Mar 2017 at 8:48 PM

So... being really bored, I decided to get myself a new game. The Sims 4 was being offered at a huge discount, so I decided to pick it up and give it a try.

Immediately after installation, I was informed that my video card wasn't up to snuff. Too bad. I played anyway. Aside from making my computer smell funny (the game must be an absolute resource hog) and getting really laggy after a while, it seems to work okay.

The toddlers are hilarious. My Sim adopted a baby (I named him Sam Sim... original, no?) and when he became a toddler, the fun began. He grabbed his mom's plate of salad off the kitchen table when he got impatient, leaving her to eat his peas instead. Every time he woke up, he'd run into his mom's room to wake her up (she was a real mess by the time he aged into a child). And the potty chair animations? Too funny.

Sam's now a child, and he's a fat little thing. I've yet to figure out how to slim him down, as he doesn't seem to be able to get into the swimming pool. There's a bit of a learning curve here (I'm so used to TS2), but it's been kind of fun to explore the TS4 world. I know I've only just scratched the surface.

Great flaming trees!

Date Posted: 24th Aug 2015 at 11:50 PM

I was playing one of my families and I was zoomed in pretty close to the interior so I didn't notice what was going on outside. There'd been a lightning storm a few days earlier, and the trees had caught fire. No big deal. Happens all the time, right? Well, one night I saw what looked like sparks flying through the air. So I zoomed out and... my Sims' trees were still on fire!

Full-on inferno mode! I had my Sim call for the fire department. They came, yelled at my Sim, and charged them 500 simoleons for reporting an emergency when there wasn't one. Nobody seemed to notice the trees were on fire. Weird...

(It did eventually resolve when the seasons changed. The trees went back to their non-flaming selves. I sure have had some interesting glitches with the Ultimate Collection!)

Cutest glitch ever?

Date Posted: 11th Jun 2015 at 3:12 AM

So... I've been playing with my Sims a bit lately, rather than making stuff for them. Heck, they don't need anything; they're already spoiled rotten as it is! I'm still discovering new things in the game, since I haven't ever played with every EP and SP before (I'm running the Ultimate Collection).

Unfortunately, there was a little bit of an issue with a bugged bathtub, which resulted in both my Sim's dogs getting confiscated. But right before that happened, this happened:

I guess the cuteness factor of a puppy bath makes up for the fact that my Sim had to go through her adult life without dogs. She had a baby instead, so that kept her busy.

In other news, I recently passed the 300-upload mark here on MTS. Yes, I've made 300 uploads... and most of those are sets with multiple items. I clearly have too much time on my hands. I've been slowing down with the creating lately, though; I just can't think of anything new that my little Sims don't already have. Like I said, they're spoiled.

Aww...

Date Posted: 26th Jul 2014 at 3:30 AM

I just lost fifteen generations of Sims. I thought that by downloading TS2 Ultimate Collection, I'd be... you know... downloading it. Not installing it and causing Sim casualties on a mass scale.

And now I have to contend with Seasons mucking up my picture-taking. It always rains when I try to take pictures. Always.

And my laptop is straining under the weight of all those EPs. Seriously... it's been loading for almost 15 minutes now, and I still don't know when I'm going to see an actual Sim.

I guess it wouldn't be EAxis if everything went smoothly...

No toddlers in TS4?

Date Posted: 15th Jul 2014 at 2:20 AM

Well, that makes less work for me!

I don't know what EA is thinking. I thought each iteration was supposed to be an improvement on the last. But EA is going backwards. First we got babies without legs in TS3. Now with TS4 we're back to TS1 where the babies magically transformed into children.

Too many vertices!

I'm trying to convert these pajamas for kids (Veranka did the original TS3 to TS2 conversion). I'm still not happy with the fat morph. And the knees are doing weird things when they bend. I thought I got them in the right place... but apparently I didn't!

Back to tweaking! (My Sims really want these. They won't stop bugging me! I keep telling them to chill out.)

Whee! Four million downloads!

Thank you to everyone who's downloaded my kids' clothes over the past eight years. This is a milestone I couldn't have reached without you!
