Hey there friends, its been a while hasn't it? Does anyone even remember me? It is perfectly ok if you don't have any idea who I am since I haven't been around since Sims 3 was released. I'll fill in the details for ya if you need them.
I like to make objects, meshing is like my relaxation drug. I was hooked on Sims when Sims 1 base game was released, and it's (generally) only gotten better since then. There was so many awesome things in Sims 1 that I still miss it even after 13ish years. A lot of life has happened in the real world in that amount of time and I've had happy and sad adventures of my own. Sims has been such a big part of my life that I simply cannot stay away from it. I still play Sims 1 very rarely, Sims 2 occasionally (favorite overall version), and just this week my husband got me Supernatural for Sims 3. I have been overwhelmed by all the magical awesomeness that it contains. Hands down Makin' Magic is my all-time favorite expansion and I still compare everything to that.
So why am I making a post on Mod about my fangirl obsessions? Well... I've been thinking, and remembering, and falling in love with my Sims all over again. I can't play the game long before I get an itch under my skin that only subsides if I get to creating something of my own. At this stage, all I'm doing is
thinking about making objects again, and very likely doing Sims 1 remakes. If you thought my meshing skills before were great, I've improved a lot and have taken a college level 3D class and have better tools since then. Not only will this make my work more efficient, it makes better meshes and a
much happier creator.
The problem is there is so much for me to learn that it is overwhelming and frightening. I really don't even know where to start. Shuffling through information for hours on end to learn how to do Sims 3 objects is not something this dyslexic girl enjoys. For me that's part of the 'cost' of doing my creations, it isn't all sunshine and roses. I could manage Sims 2 object creation, but the last time I looked at making Sims 3 objects the difficulty level seemed through the roof. Granted that was shortly after the game was released so it may not be much to go by, but that's what I always remember.
Are you a Sims 1 fan? If so, I need to hear from you guys most of all. I'm pretty sure Sims 1 conversions will always be the #1 thing that brings me back to making Sims stuff. As always my talents revolve around what is found on lots and in the world, not the Sims themselves. What
category from Build/Buy had some of your favorite things? I no longer remember what stuff came in what expansion so I may not remember if you give an answer like, "Everything that came with Livin' Large!!" (That's the one I really remember the least.
It just blended all together after a while.) OH! I keep forgetting that I have TS1
tombstones and the Goth house fences meshes already started from working on them for Sims 2. I still have the dog and celebrity tombstones and the urns to do, and the cat won't need much modding. The basic tombstones on the Goth lot have been done for years and I'm really proud of the big tall one.
So what does all of this mean to you?
The type of things I would upload:
- Sims 1 conversions to Sims 3
- Conversions of my Sims 2 objects to Sims 3
- Patterns & texture swatches relevant to the Sims 1 objects
- New patterns
- New Objects
- Maybe uploading some of my unique Sims
So if you have an opinion,
any opinion on this stuff, let me hear it! If you don't know anything about Sims 1, trust me, it's awesome stuff (look at the Sims 2 conversions I did in my profile.) The more I hear from people that this would be something they would want, the more encouragement it will give me to re-learn Sims object creations and give the community TS1 stuff that I know
many of us have been missing.
