Hosting a New Contest

Date Posted: 12th Sep 2016 at 8:33 PM

Hey all, I'm hosting a new contest, come join us! We'll be building our own shells and then renovating them into new buildings!

Concept
Land is at a premium in the city and many older buildings are being removed for newer ones, but many older ones have history that is worth protecting. Every two weeks Sim City’s Conservation Committee is reviewing preservation applications for a different type of building in the city and the City will choose to either preserve or demolish your building. While these buildings are deemed important, it is still required that they generate income and do not fall into disrepair. These buildings will have their original architecture respected and renovated for new use.

Task
Contestants will be tasked with building a lot from an older time period and style. Those approved by the City as worthwhile to save will be tasked with then converting and renovating it to a newer commercial space. The new commercial space will not be revealed until the shells are completed.

And, I'm back to Orange

Date Posted: 1st Dec 2014 at 7:55 AM

I had a good run being part of MTS Staff, but it's time for me to retire. I've gotten very busy with starting my own business, and I just can't give the time MTS deserves of its staff right now. I do not plan on retiring from Sims or creating, so don't worry about that! I hope to run into you all more on the Downloads pages!

OMG I'm Purple!

Date Posted: 15th Sep 2012 at 8:04 PM

Sometimes I guess it really does pay to be patient. I've been staff here at MTS for a little over 4 years and today I got promoted. I even skipped a level. I'm super excited to be purple, and a Super Mod now. This means I now have privs in all areas of the site, not just Bodyshop and Downloads. In the next few days I'm likely going to be organizing TS2 Objects and Modding forums, unless I get a real job handed down to me. Its always been my goal to help creators, and I feel if information is easy to find, its easy to create things. TS3 create areas are still in flux because we are still getting new EPs, but TS2 is set in stone now. Its about time to give it a good cleaning and organizing!

So happy to be my favorite color! Makes me feel ok that I don't dye my hair purple anymore (just graduated college, looking for a real job, remember?)

IDSA Boston and Summer Career-Hunting

Date Posted: 15th Aug 2012 at 7:36 AM

I graduated college in June! Since then I moved sorta back in with my parents and I've been preparing for the next scary part of my life - finding a real job! Today I've flown off to Boston to stay with my cousin for a week while I attend the IDSA Conference here; I plan on smoozing with enough 'headmasters' to hopefully get a job opportunity by the end of my time here. I've already even had a bit of good luck. Only hours before boarding the plane I received a phone call about a job opportunity back in my college town of Cincinnati. My boyfriend would be very pleased if I move back again. I don't know any details about it yet, but as it would have it, the person I was talking with will also be attending this conference, so we will meet up in person on Thursday. Cross your fingers for me that I find a great job as an Industrial Designer preferably at a Design Consultancy. There are a bunch of great places here in Boston I'd love to work at as well, so I'm really just hoping for general good things at this point. I'll go where the wind takes me.

Please vote for me and bookmark the page, come back each week!

Going to Europe! LEGO likes ME!

Date Posted: 19th Jan 2012 at 5:46 PM

OMG, have I got some good news! They finally announced it! I am a finalist in the SCA Design Challenge Lego Packaging contest. In December I entered a Lego Packaging contest and my design was chosen as one of the top five! They are bringing all the Lego finalists to Denmark for a workshop on Feb 22 and then presenting to the ENG Packaging Design Conference in Belgium on March 27 (my b-day!). Read about it here: http://www.scapackaging-design-chal...lego-finalists/

In between these events I plan on visiting Denmark, Germany, France, and Belgium by rail. If you live anywhere in my travel zone and are willing to lend me a couch for a couple of days, I'd really appreciate it. If you can't put me up but have time for lunch I'd still love to swing by. I'm almost as excited about the prospect of actually meeting some of you as I am about visiting the sights. I've got about 20 days on my own so the vague plan right now is to do five days in each country, seeing the museums and tourist attractions. If you know of great places for me to visit, let me know! Or if you have tips about traveling overseas and to these countries. I'm so clueless about everything right now and I've only got a month to get it all together! Yikes~! EEEE!

Snap! She's Back!

Date Posted: 11th Jun 2011 at 7:22 AM

Spring quarter just ended for my college and I'm off for the summer for now. I'm supposed to be started a new co-op job assignment on Monday, but with the economy the way it is, and the fact that it's summer quarter and that's when every other school ever has let loose their students to find employment, I'm currently out on my tush for now. It's ok, while I wanted to get a job, I'm determined to make the most of this summer. And, they still have until July 4th to get me placed yet, so there is still hope for that. In the meantime, I've been busily trying to get caught up on my sims stuff. I have a ton of half finished projects that I'm just trying to wrap up and get out to you, which is why suddenly I've got three uploads within a week of each other. They've all been on backlog, even I can't work that fast! In addition to that, I need to get an upload for June Fitness and mid July is my creator anniversary, and you know I always do something nice for that. For June Fitness, I'm thinking some new weight machines or something like Energy bars. For my creator anniversary I'm either going to finish out my Mid-Century set or I'll upload my newer St. Bestine's Cathedral if I haven't decided to upload that later this week.

I find having a Project list in my Journal is helpful for me to go back to look at:
Fix afSwimShorts fatmesh
Fix BunnyEars Flashing Blue
JobLevels in Portuguese

Shelving Set
Functionality to Book Stacks, Chalkboard, Toys
Stackable Chairs
Bauhaus Project

Yoga Mat / Work Out Mat no

Birthday!

Date Posted: 27th Mar 2011 at 6:00 PM

Today is my bday! Yay! I am now 24. It's getting to that age where its hard to tell people I play the sims, but I'm not gonna stop. Earlier this week I went home and had a small family party with just my dad (sibs and mom were out of town). I got to pick my favorite cake, one of those frozen Pepperidge Farm Coconut cakes. Dad gave me a sweet 1TB external hard drive, Mom gave me a puzzle with art from one of my favorite artists, and my sisters joined together to get me Sims Medieval. I tried playing it already, but I think lappy needs more RAM before it can run it well. Oh well, it was on my purchase list anyways. The game is very different from TS2 (still think 3 can suck it) so I don't know how much I'll actually enjoy it when I can run it well. I haven't given up on my Medieval Veronaville, I think that's still more fun for me, but I'll build it better from what I learn in this new game. Anyways, Happy Birthday to me!

What's up with Phae lately?

Date Posted: 30th Jan 2011 at 11:55 PM

So, yeah, my uploads have this downward trend line, my first year I had 100 uploads, second year had 18, third year had 9, and I've only gotten 1 up the past six months since. What happened?!?

Well, a couple things. The first year I was here I was only part time at college, I had WAY more freetime to make stuff, and back then I was still learning and making really simple things. Once I figured out how to default replace stuff it didn't take long for me to replace almost all the outfits that were seriously driving me crazy. My second year I started working on all the cool larger project I had been dreaming about when I was first learning. Larger projects take time. Between all the meshing and texturing (relatively simple process) there is all the coding to do, that takes forever. In addition, I've gotten back to full time at school. That has me so busy I rarely have time to do any sims work in the fall or spring. The summer and winter months I'm away on co-op. Can't do sims stuff at work, but it does leave my evenings open and that's where I've been squeaking stuff in.

Whether or not I have time to work on my projects or not, I am active on MTS pretty much everyday. I still have moderation duties and I answer questions on my boards. I'm not gone, just darn busy.

As I'm back on winter quarter doing a co-op, I've had time to pick my projects back up. I'm almost done with a really great little hacked object, a phone book. Echo has been helping me with it by the boatloads. Nothing cool I've ever done hasn't been at least partly (generally a whole lot) thanks to her.

I've got some more projects in the works right now, but I'm not going to get ahead of myself just yet. I can promise the phone book will make it out before April (when I go back to school) but anything else right now is still up in the air pending how uncooperative things will be. Current projects include window pane recolors and smaller driveways/garages. Here's hoping they turn out as well. The stackable chairs might be making a come-back and there might be something to do with all the strays in the neighborhood, that one I need to think more on.

Anyways, I miss you all! Not having uploads very often means I rarely hear from all of you and I miss it. Drop me a line! And, if anyone has a joint project idea in mind, I'd be interested.

3 Year Anniversary Project

Date Posted: 16th Jul 2010 at 4:34 AM

So my third creator anniversary is coming up this monday, the 19th. As is my usual style, I'm making a celebration upload for it. It's been on my to-do list forever to make more swings. Somehow that ended up into a full blown playground set. And yet, no additional swings....

Playground Set

Anyways, if you are interested in my trials and tribulations with this project, I have a very lovely lengthy thread over in Object Repair Workshop about it.

I've also been working on columns, a merry-go-round, and a drinking fountain. Still in the plan are animated flags and toddler bouncy rides. If I can get it worked out over the weekend, I also might be able to include some toddler swings, no promises though.
