Default Replace the EA top shape by another one
Hello! I saw that some creators were able to replace a part of the body mesh, such as chisami feet and cmar top. How can I edit the downloaded files and replace their body shapes in S3PE for personal use? I already tried to make them as accessory, but it doesn't look well in the game.

As you said, there are already several body CAS replacement parts out there. What are you trying to do? Just swapping geoms in S3PE usually won't work. It's generally a bit more work than that.

I see. I was hoping there was an easier way to do this. Does this mean I would need to redesign the files? I don't have enough experience =(.

This topic should probably be moved to the create section. But for now, almost nothing is "easy"... but when you want something that you can't find, THAT is how modders are born! ))) Exactly what are you hoping to do? You're a bit light on details. If you just want to replace a nude top mesh, that's not too difficult. If you want it to work with Cmar's sliders, that requires a bit more work.

I'd like to replace the EA body shape and use the ones I prefer for some outfits for personal use. It would be awesome to make ones compatible with these sliders as well. I agree that this topic should be changed to that section too =). I would like to try it.

Again, you are very brief in saying exactly what you want to replace. "Body shape" means little. I have no idea what you prefer? So, it's kind of difficult to tell you much more than basics.

Open TSRW and find a top, bottom or outfit that is similar to the "body shape" you want. Clone and save the file. Export L1, L2 and L3 .wsos and save. Since you were talking about using s3pe, I guess you have a geom to use? Use MTK to convert the geom to .wso. Next, replace bones, if the mesh doesn't have bones. Use seam fixer, then add morphs, using the L1 you exported from TSRW. Import your .wso to TSRW.

Now replace textures as needed. Export your new package and done. Those are the bare bones, since I don't have much info to work with.

I would like to replace the body mesh because it would look more realistic for some clothes with thin fabrics, like swimsuits, lingerie, etc. The creator JoshQ used the cmar's female top in some of his creations.

I know JoshQ very well. He's my mentor. He didn't use Cmar's top mesh... MedBod is his mesh, and has different body proportions than standard EA, or Cmar's mesh. If your goal is to use MedBod to remake EA outfits, or other CC garments, I'll tell you that is somewhat more advanced meshing.

On his page he has clothes that have the barbie/EA version, the cmar version and the medbot one, he writes about it in the description of the files. I have already tried all these versions in the game. I was looking for an easy method. But if it is too complicated to do it, better leave it . Thanks for everything!

Have you downloaded anything from that page? Josh hasn't made garments for anything other than MedBod for quite a few years, as far as I know. MedBod is a "thicker" girl at the waist, and bigger shoulders and butt. Tops and bottoms don't align to EA standard at the waist. MedBod uses the EA ankle position, so all of his shoes work on any Sims 3 female bottom... separate tf and af.

If you wanted to convert Josh's garments to align to EA waist, it's possible, but the general body proportions remain. Also, MedBod nude top doesn't work with Cmar's sliders. There's a difference in vertex count.

Yes,I have as I said before. Here is a set created with cmar top mesh by Jhosq (https://www.loverslab.com/files/fil...tion-by-joshq/). It is in the description and I already tested it.

As I said, "Josh hasn't made garments for anything other than MedBod for quite a few years". That post is from 2016, and even says that from then on, he will only be doing MedBod.

Also as I said, if you are trying to convert newer MedBod garments to Cmar/EA waist, I can try to guide you thru that. But, you need to know how to use Blender, and several other meshing tools, and TSRW. And, Cmar's sliders won't work because vertex IDs will change.

I just wanted to know how to replace a top/bottom/body/feet mesh for swimwear and lingerie that look made from thin fabric from other creators. I realized this was possible because Joshq did it and that's why I referenced him. Thanks for everything but I am not anymore interested.

Sorry to see that you were dissuaded, I'll leave a little bit of info just in case you change your mind or someone else comes across this thread looking for the same answer.
@lyralei @zoe22 Could this thread be moved to the Create section, please?

I'd gauge the difficulty for this as 'intermediate', but it varies depending on exactly what you wanted to make.
You'd need to be comfortable with Blender, at the very least.
  • If you wanted to make changes to a clothing/body mesh that didn't involve changing the topology (ie. just moving the existing vertices into a new shape, kind of like making a preset or a slider), then it wouldn't actually be too complicated to swap the parts.
  • If you want use a custom mesh that's already for TS3 with more clothing, the difficulty would vary based on the clothing's original mesh. You'd potentially have to modify the UV map, and any 3D parts would need to be fitted to the new shape.
  • If you have a new body mesh that isn't from TS3, that would be the most complicated as it would have to be UV mapped to the TS3 skin first. Not impossible, I have converted feet from another game for personal use before, but this strays into 'advanced' experience required.
All bone sliders would be compatible regardless of method, sliders that move specific vertices would vary.
I hope that sheds some light on the process.

Good morning. I decided to try again with S3PE after checking a garment that was an accessory from JoshQ. I removed the GEOM, BONE, BONF, BGEO, and BBLN files, and recategorized it as an accessory from a swimsuit made by Bill Sims (https://www.thesimsresource.com/dow...it/id/1335604/). And repeated the proccess for other cc too. This method will only work with clothes that are fit like a pair of socks as I thought. More complex clothes (https://rotteneyed.wixsite.com/webs...1-satin-chemise) will require another method. I will try to learn how to use the Blender 1st. I posted a pic how it looked in my tumblr (https://simmer-bluish.tumblr.com/po...test-look-made).

Ooh, I see!
That's definitely quite different to what I would have pictured from the earlier description, which may have contributed to some of the confusion.

As I understand it, you've worked your way backwards to making what we'd call an 'overlay accessory' by trimming parts out of a clothing package. Some of my S3PE discoveries came about like that too- you have good instincts for learning by reverse-engineering!
The more streamlined way to do this would be to export the resources you do want, probably just the textures, and use them to replace the same resources in a new accessory package. As you observed, any of the socks or stockings would work as the CAS Part to clone for this purpose- either with the tool S3OC or TSRW.

3D clothing could technically be made into an accessory, but would need to have the body parts removed from the mesh and it would only fit the body mesh it was made to fit. I've seen TS4 CC jackets and bags that are worn on top of clothes like that, it would likely be a similar process for TS3.
If it's not suitable as an accessory, it would need be converted to the shape of the preferred body mesh as in the second method I described.

I have a Blender intro tutorial that's a little bit outdated, but I still recommend the video linked at the top and the tools mentioned after the green header.
There will be a big update hopefully sometime next month or early in the new year if not.
