It's a less girly form of starfire.

Astro is latin for star.

I looked in the back of my copy of Return of the King, and it appeared that the orcish word for fire was Gnash, although I now think the n may have been an h.

Thus is why I posted in the username change request thread asking it be shortened simply to Astro.

Mine is because my nickname is candy, but that and candie are taken, and since I'm a little OCD I have to have an equal amount of repeated letters, so I ended up with candiiee.

My reasoning is ridiculously stupid. Clover has been my nickname for awhile now. My friend called me Super Clover once, but she said it in a baby voice, so it sounded more like Supa Clova. And there you go.

I thought HP was a guy too, but that was when she had the Dr. House avatar (i automatiaclly assiciate the gender of the avatar with the gender of the person)

Yeah, Zela isn't a particularly feminine username. I've been mistaken for a guy once or twice. I had to make it clear in my signature that I am EM. A girl.
EDIT: Plus, most of my avatars have guys in. Thats because they are hot not because I am a guy too.
