I was hoping someone would do this. But don't you think it's a little big?

Human beings are a very irrational species. Some of them are even afraid of pickles.

It is awesome. However, I do agree with the above simmers. A smaller version without the stand (that can be place on a table) will be even better.

Cool, this is perfect for my vampire sims who live in houses without any electronics, now they don't have to have computers and ruin he whole effect!

Totally Groovalicious! I have to dissagree with Cloudwalkernz, While a smaller crystal ball would be nice, if it sat on a table it would ruin the effect. The sims woul just look like they were drumming their fingers on the table instead of casting a spell.

Thank you for making this, and sharing it as well! But also thank you for good in game photos that show how the animations carry over from the computer. As well as great text explaining those animation carry-overs and how you incorporate them into your story telling. It really helps me decide if this is right for my game, and style of play, as well as gives me ideas for using it I had not thought of. Very creative!

Thanks everyone, hope those of you who like this idea will find it useful!

Re the size of the ball, it would not be a good idea to make it smaller because it then would not fit with the animations that require the sim to touch the computer, such as doing the 'maintenance' (overclocking) depicted in the final screenshot. It needs to be no smaller than the size of the standard computer.

Re putting the ball on a regular desk, imdvine's comment above is right, it would look like they were just drumming their fingers on the desk rather than casting a spell. The ball also needs to be at the low level that it is, in order for the hand movements to look like they're casting a spell directed towards the ball. Having it at regular desk height means that their hands will be lower than the ball, which would look wrong.

I do these things for a reason - there is a method to my madness, ha ha!

Maybe you could make a smaller version for those who want a smaller version and don't care so much about how the interactions look?

To be honest, I don't want to do that - I'm a bit of a perfectionist and *I* care how the interactions look, and I don't like to upload anything that doesn't work right. If I'd made this smaller and the interactions were 'off', downloaders would (quite rightly) complain about that and my name would get besmirched as someone who makes cr*p stuff that doesn't work properly. Hope you understand! If someone else would like to make a smaller one themselves, they are free to do so if they don't mind taking the consequences of the complaints they may get about the animations not looking right!

For those who want a small crystal ball that can be interacted with, I suggest one of the decorative ones that have a mirror function, such as this one: http://www.modthesims.info/d/396211

:lovestruc :lovestruc :lovestruc YOU ARE MY BELOVED HEROINE!!!!! :lovestruc :lovestruc :lovestruc You have NO idea how creepy you are--EVERY time I think about needing something, here you come a mere FEW days later with the VERY thing I desired! I'd kiss you if I could!

I think the size is fine, but why isn't the ball itself recolorable? You know, so that we could put watery or electric patterns and such on it? This is still 100% wonderful, though! I was just hoping that I could make a Palantir out of it!

But from the bottom of my heart, thank you SOOOO much for this BRILLIANT creation! I am going to put this in every lot I can slap with a broomstick!

This is SO UTTERLY COOL! And for some reason, I think it's really cute that sims will be fixing it with a screwdriver. :D

LOL, thanks for your comment, great minds think alike I guess! And I do have some idea how creepy I am! But I'm glad you like this item!

Re the recolourability, it's not recolourable because it's glass. BUT, I like your idea of a Palantir, so I will look at whether I can make a blank solid version of the ball for recolouring. If it looks OK, I'll add it to the thread!

Hee hee, I do like the bit of silliness the 'overclocking' animation adds to this item!

Consider this a second request for a Palantir... this would be awesome as that. Thanks for what you've done with the crystal tho.. amazing!

Actually it is possible to apply a channel to glass to have transparent patterns.
