Thanks! I know a few people who will be glad to have this, me included. Now we can only hope that EA pick up on their mistake and fix it.

to reset the walk: Click City Hall, then Debug then More Options (I think) then Reset Walk (WARNING: This will also cause any playable ghosts (and possibly any ghosts who happen to be wandering about at the time too? Unconfirmed on that one) to stop floating and walk "properly" although they will still ignore routing instructions and just walk in the quickest possible path to their destination (ie through everything))

Yes, unfortunately this is just a stopgap measure. Until EA release a bugfix though this will have to do. (Notice how they are pushing Store stuff that their making money from but not fixing bugs? funny that eh?)

I must admit, I didn't coin the term, It is what it is being called on TS3 Forums (the EA ones) I agree it is funny though

TY TY TY I now have three hoods infected with this desease. Most annoying, and I have abandone them while waiting for an EA patch.

I have just started a new hood, my fourth one, so now I will install your hood and hope that this one stays uninfected.

your very welcome Just remember not to play Tag manually as well The mod only stops them doing it autonomously, although I can stop it being player directed if I wanted to, I didn't really see the point

I will be sure to remember to not do that. Again, thank you for the mod, and for confirming my suspicions about that it indeed was the "play tag" interaction that caused the running bug.

UPDATE: EA have just announced Patch version 1.14/2.9/3.5/4.2 I will be checking my code to check its working still.

I cant see a cure for running disease in the (very long) list of bugfixes though so I guess this mod still has a use.

Just wanted to ask:
Have you tested it yet? And if so, does it still work or does it need to get updated?
I've noticed that EA didn't bother fixing the running bug with their latest patch. *sigh*

Anyway, thank you very much for this!

I havent tested yet because Baxim at SS2 hasn't updated his Core Mod yet (which I run) so I haven't upgraded. If someone with the latest patch could upload their GameplayData.package in a rar or zip file I will make a new one guaranteed to work with the latest patch.

If not I will try and install Sims 3 in XP Mode tomorrow sometime and get to work. No Promises though, I have a life away from The Sims (as hard as it is to believe )

I hope I chose the correct one -- this one is from the \Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin\Gameplay\ directory.

Again, thank you!!

There's something you should try that may also help to alleviate the problem.
It's called Always Walk, Please by Shimrod.
It won't completely eliminate the problem. As a matter of fact I've been using the mod for awhile and never fully experienced the running issue. I have noticed though that sometimes my sims run for awhile but shortly to slightly-longerly later they start walking again.
Here's the mod: http://ts3.tscexchange.com/index.php?topic=3907.0

That link is bringing back a 404 error (page not found) can you upload directly to your post? (click go advanced if your quick replying and then manage attatchments at the bottom)

and yes, thats the right one assuming you only have the base game, otherwise I'll need the one from your latest EP/SP (so if you have WA and AMB I need the AMB one, if you have HELS and WA I need HELS and if you only have WA I need the WA one.)

EDIT: Never mind. I'm now installing Sims 3 to Windows 7's "XP Mode" So I have a testbed for my mods without breaking my game. Update should be up by 1pm (UTC)

Ah OK, here's hoping I attached things properly.
I have ambitions too, so this time I uploaded the gameplaydata located there instead. Thanks for the info

Thanks vince, I do actually know of that mod but I prefer stopping it from happening in the first place!
Attached files:
File Type: zip  GameplayData.zip (1.81 MB, 22 downloads)
Description: GameplayData.package for AMB 4.2

Thanks Updated.

Note: In versions 4.2 Play Tag has been disabled entirely. If you want me to reenable it let me know. I didn't see the point of leaving it on there though due to Running Disease, didn't want you accidentally doing it Manually

Version 4.2 is UNTESTED!

Its really no trouble at all I would have had to do an update for myself anyway

Updates should be a bit quicker now, I've got XP Mode working, so I have a virtual environment to patch Sims in so I don't mess with my own game

Default Thanx a ton
Oh by far this one mod here will pay for itself...I'm so tired of moving my sims out and back in all the time when they catch that dreaded Tag Disease. So frustrating. And all that unnecessary running around like chickens with their heads cut off gets very annoying.

Thanx again!!

All my Mod's are currently compatible with the new FLS patch. I have spent the last week reviewing various things, and self testing them and it all seems to be working as it should.

I use many of my own Mods, and all seem to be working fine with no bugs. As ever, they have been tested running Baxim's EGC with Inteen3 as my Game Core so definitely EGC compatible, definitely Un-Core Modded compatible, and probably Awesome compatible but I haven't checked.

Enjoy.

Cannot currently check whether its LN compatible, (hey you never know, EA might have fixed running disease!) but will update hopefully Monday, if Baxim comes good on his promise to have EGC updated by then
