How are sims assigned to houses? Is it random, or does it depend on the sim's personality?

Really cool mod excited to use it Could you specify which traits and zodiac signs it takes into consideration (I get that the mysteriousness of the process is nice, but for story purposes it's also good to know what to expect)

sims with brave trait, leo, virgo and cancer signs have more chances to be sorted in Gryfindor

genius trait, capricorn, gemini and sagittarius signs : Ravenclaw

workaholic trait, pieces, taurus and libra signs : Hufflepuff

ambitious trait, scorpio, aries and aquarius signs : Slytherin

Curious, does this have any affect on a sim, or is it just a message?

Hi TaylorK406, for now, in addition to the message they get a buff. Later, I want the sorting ceremony to enroll them to actual Hogwarts degrees.

Oh btw, for the next update, here are some suggestions for more traits to be added into the Sorting Hat's consideration process
(I'm going to include some of the traits and zodiac signs you already mentioned earlier, with the new traits in bold) :

GRYFFINDOR: leo, virgo, cancer, brave + adventurous, athletic, charismatic, daredevil, good, good sense of humor, loves the outdoors, lucky, party animal, social butterfly, star quality,

RAVENCLAW: capricorn, gemini, sagittarius, genius + bookworm, hopeless romantic, cat person, hates the outdoors, neat, neurotic, perceptive, perfectionist, shy, socially awkward, virtuoso

HUFFLEPUFF: taurus, pisces, libra, workaholic + animal lover, easily impressed, eco-friendly, excitable, friendly, gatherer, green thumb, natural cook, dog person, nurturing, disciplined

SLYTHERIN: scorpio, aries, aquarius, ambitious + brooding, diva, dramatic, evil, snob, proper, kleptomaniac, family-oriented, night owl, equestrian, rebellious, schmoozer,

Why These Traits?
I tried to stay as close to the books as possible. All four houses have 11 traits added - except for Slytherin which has a 12th trait.
I made sure all of the houses had at least one animal related trait (gryffindors are party animals so i guess that counts). I chose equestrian for Slytherins because horseback riding in some circles can be viewed as a very upper-class sort of sport and since a lot of Slytherins in the books were pureblooded witches I figured that would make sense.
It's always tempting to give Slytherins loads of negative traits, but I actually put some thought into the ones I selected. I know family-oriented may seem odd to give to them but in the books, pureblooded witches are often obsessed with preserving their bloodlines (remember the Black family? and the Riddles?) so it made sense to me to give them a trait that can help them along with their legacy-building.
Lastly, I noticed that both Gryffindors and Slytherins share a certain type of charm and magnetism so I gave Slytherins the "schmoozing" trait because it pairs well with their ambition. I was tempted to give them "charismatic" which is a very similar type of trait, but personally, when I think of a schmoozer, i imagine someone who is a little manipulative and calculated when it comes to their social lives - often forging relationships that benefit them as opposed to just having a genuine interest in another person. So I think sims with the "schmoozing" trait would do well in Slytherin.

Disclaimer: Don't take this list too seriously, guys - it's literally a game and it's just for fun. Hogwarts Houses are like zodiac signs - they're kinda stereotypical and there will always be exceptions (not every Slytherin is evil, not every Gryffindor is an extrovert, not every Hufflepuff likes hard work, not every Ravenclaw is a prodigy) Just like in real life, whenever you're talking about a mass group of people - they're not all going to be the same. But I created this list with good intentions and had fun while doing so! Even if this isn't incorporated into the mod, hope this inspires you to create your own class of Hogwarts students!
