This is a very interesting idea, thank you! This will give my sims something else to spend their money on.

Thank you so much for this! It's something I tried to make for in-game tv (and my custom radio stations) but couldn't get to work. This is a real gift for economy-style players like myself. Are you planning on doing something similar with radios?

I only wish that there's a cancel button for the subscription menu just to close the popup without subscribing, but other than that I like it so far!

Thanks for another option for when my game reaches modern tomes.

Don't understand the payment... 15 x 7 days = 105 per week, 105 x 4 weeks (or even 5) = 420/525.... who would pay 1000 for a month if paying everyday is cheaper...(15x30=450) Am I missing something? I would never buy this in real life... nope!

Well, prices in Sims games aren't really representative of real life for a start. ^^;
The daily pass is not a daily pass, it's only good for eight hours, and we can assume that Sims sleep for about 8 hours, meaning they'd have 16 hours to spare... however in some cases, sleep patterns of Sims may differ, either due to work times at night or having nights out at Downtown, leading to having some night owls that take up some of the remaining eight hours too.
The daily pass is more of a... movie night, or a party pass (these last five hours, so it gives you a little leeway for the before and the after of the party). In reality your Sims might have an interest to watch movies more than just 8 hours a day, especially if it's a large family.
If I scale up the price for 8 hours to a full 24 hours, we land at §45. 45*30 = 1450 for the month pass, so the §1000 is cheaper than that.

However you do bring up a valid point when it comes to the weekly pass, that is indeed a little cheaper than the monthly pass... I might adjust the monthly pass price down to §500. Or get rid of that option altogether.

Good point! I'll see if I can include a fourth option in the dialogue. If not, I'll just axe the monthly pass altogether.

Interesting proposition. I'll look into it!

EDIT: As I'm not able to have a dialogue with four options, I decided to axe the monthly pass. In exchange there is now an option to cancel an accidental interaction with the blu-ray player.

That's very creative idea! I was wondering, since it's a Blu-ray player, would it be possible to acquire a copy of a movie thorugh a Blu-ray player, which would make that movie available on all TVs with a player without the need to subscribe to Plumbflix?

I have a theory how this could theoretically work, but I'll have to try it out. I'll put it on my list of projects

I encountered an error when trying to do the "Renew Plumbfix Subscription" (I attached the error log)

I had 0 other download except this one.

I also noticed that if you change the TV (delete and purchase a new one) with a Blu-Ray player already placed before, it will not detect the new TV (maybe it is associated with my errors?):

And just my personal opinion, I found the new sound effect a bit loud. It's really cool tho that you've added a new one in the game!

Found and fixed, had to do with the change I made to remove the monthly pass. Should work now.

I noticed this once during my tests but could not reproduce it again after. It happened on a custom TV, and even though I replaced the TV several times after I did not get this error anymore. Your TV does not look custom though.
Try the new version I'll upload shortly and see if that does anything about it.

I feel it's alright, but if others think so too I can tone it down a little more.

Yep, it's the base game television

BTW, you forgot to include your recolors in your updated zip!

Including recognising newly bought televisions? Nice. I did change one more little thing in there but I deemed it insignificant... guess not. XD

Ah bugger! Though I did intend to upload the recolours separately really. I'll do that instead.

Yes, more subscriptions, more capitalism. I want my sims to drown in it like I do. Want a movie - rent it, want a magazine with ads - rent it, want a house - rent it.

That's exactly why I make mods like this. I like realism in my Sims games. I'm not a die-hard fan of capitalism myself (who is, anyway?), I just adjust my Sims' lifestyle to be a little less like a dollhouse or feel-good game.

To be honest, the game is very easy in money regards.
You get a free §20,000 just for moving out of college,
you get another tens of thousands for any relative that dies,
bills are laughable,
and a sports car is a bit over §10,000.
I wish real life was this easy. :P

So §150 a week to watch movies really shouldn't hurt any Sim's budget...

Besides, if you do not wish to have my mod in your game, there is no force to download it.

So you made their life worse, you don't want to play feel-good game you want a feel-bad game instead? What is it some kind of masochism?
I would understand if you created a mod that disables autonomous watching movies for example or disables movies all together but what you created is purely useless...

I neither want a feel-good nor a feel-bad game. I just want a realistic game
Besides, a mod that makes movies a subscription-based form of entertainment, isn't the worst that exists, honestly.
There's mods to severely increase bills. There's mods that force a burglar daily. There's mods for a death by childbirth, sicknesses that heal harder... and I don't even want to talk about the most extreme mods out there.

Actually, my mod does disable movies (autonomous and user-directed) if a Sim never pays. A Sim is never forced to pay to get the movies. They still get all the TV channels for free, which boost Fun just the same.
Paying for Plumbflix also isn't autonomous so you have to direct your Sims to do it.

Mods to disable movie autonomy exist already. I just wasn't 100% happy with them so I created my own take.

I do not have a problem with reading opinions. They help me improve, and tune my mods to be suitable for as many players as possible. I respect your opinion.

It's really good to see TS2 creators are active creating &/or updating content for us - Simmers. I've taken a break from TS4 (again) and I decided to start playing back, but I was a little afraid there weren't a lot of updated &/or recently released Mods/CC available for TS2. I know it's harder to try to update an older TS game, especially trying to make it similar to S3 or S4, but Mods like this bring some nostalgia to the TS2 Simmers... We've come a long way! Thank you so much for taking the time to create Mods for TS2 and on top of that, sharing it with us!

I loved the very idea of this and immediately downloaded and tested it in one of my Sims homes and it worked perfectly. I just had a thought, if this mod disables movies completely without the movie player, it this just on home lots or are movies also disabled on community lots? I haven't had an opportunity to test on a community lot, so I thought I just ask. If so, is there a way for movies to only be disabled on home lots?

This mod by default also disables movies at community lots, apartments, hotels, dorms etc. as there is no such check in place.

However, I had a second thought on this and it does make sense for someone to want to not have the check in place for certain lots.
So after your message, I have decided to make an alternate version that restricts the movie menu ONLY on residential lots, greek houses (frats) and owned businesses. On all other lots, movies will be unrestricted.

@Kesha Thank you! I too am very proud of the Sims 2 (and 3!) modding community, not only keeping the game alive but actively improving it step by step!

@LimeyYoshi Thank you so much for the additional option. I have movie theaters and unowned bars with TV's so the unrestricted option on community lots is perfect.

Default PT-BR translation
Hello LimeyYoshi I loved your mod so I translated it to Brazilian Portuguese, but I translated the onlyPlayerOwned version, I don't know if there is any difference because I only use this version.
(ps: I hope nothing is written wrong in this message because I'm using google translator to write.)
