Default Store Worlds Medieval-ised
I was just wondering if anyone has come upon Neighborhoods from the Simstore that have been made more medieval. Streets and roads taken from modern to dirt, stuff like that. How hard is it to change an existing world in CAW? I haven't been able to get CAW to work for me. Any advice or sites welcome. Thank You ! ! ! ! :D

There's one of Dragon Valley that I use a lot in my medieval-style game.

Oh, wow, I was going to post something almost the same, but here's a thread!

I'm interested in medieval store or custom worlds, but I'd like them to have (preferably dirt) roads. All the ones I've found are roadless. I'm playing in Praaven Reworked now, and it's just an amazing world, but a big world with no roads, even with subways, it's a huge PITA.

Danjaley and others have put together a nice set of vehicle replacements for historic worlds. I'd like to set up a save using those and see what I think of it.

Has anyone done a medieval makeover of Monte Vista?

Is there a way to put the roads BACK in the medieval revamp of Dragon Valley?

BTW: If you're planning to use Praaven Reworked or other roadless worlds that use subways, you want NPCs Use Subways. Otherwise, the subways won't actually reduce the lag.

NO SUBWAYS!!! Use horses to get a more medieval feel. Cheat horses to those on the edges of the world, and up their riding ability. After that, I just let them walk. Good exercise!

So, if an NPC sim goes to work by horse, what happens to the horse? I don't think NPCs autonomously tie their horses to hitching posts. So do the horses just wander around? What happens when the NPC gets out of work and needs to go home?

I love seeing my townsfolk out riding. I'm just not clear on how reliable the game is for routing inactives with them.

To be totally honest, I never cared. I figure that townies, service and role NPC's are never broke, and certainly service and roles, seem to usually show up for work.

And yes, Sims on horseback and walking/ running just gets me more into the whole medieval theme.

NPC's will never use a horse, or have pets, that's only for Townies or your own household. So you wont encounter this problem.

Being one of the two people responsible for Praaven Reworked, I can say that after Norn and I fixed this world, I never suffered any lag. I did set my save up for success though. I only allowed my own household, and those townies that were self employed, or unemployed, to live out of town. You can assign your townies to roles (Nraas Register) that are right next to their homes, which it would have been like in medieval times for sure. We used a custom made subway in Praaven Reworked that doesn't look like a subway, for emersion, but I understand even that may be too much for the purists.

Make use of Nraas mods, set your game up right and enjoy a proper medieval experience with no roads

They definitely go out riding, but this likely involves NRaas StoryProgression. I don't know that they route anywhere using horses.

Well, NPCs don't use subways by default. When I started using Praaven Reworked, after a while the lag got very bad. I then discovered the tuning I linked to above, and that made the lag go away. I assume you always had your game tuned for NPCs to use subways?

I'm still playing my medieval game in Praaven. It's a breathtakingly immersive world, no question. However, I'm not sure that using subways is more immersive than using roads with default replacements for cars. I'd like to get a chance to try both.

NPC's are Non Playable Characters, Sims you cannot select in Edit mode, that fulfill roles around town like Pizza Delivery, Maid, Bar workers etc.

Townies are the Sims that are part of households that you can select and play.

Townies can adopt pets if you don't have that disabled with mods. NPC's cannot have pets at all.

You would be seeing your townies riding around town, if you allow that

Yes, NPC's don't use Subways by default, but I don't want them to use the subway at all and that's why I have my game set up so that my townies fill most roles and they live near their work, and what they do in their own free time is up to them Subways are only if my sims want to use them. Of course the mod you suggest is perfect if you want all sims to use the subways

For me, if there was a properly animated horse and cart, I would be happy to use roads for this purpose. Not sure there is one right now? Using a subway that is invisible or looks like and old hut was the best we could do at the time, for those that didn't want to be wandering Praaven forever. So for me it's horses for my sims and that's how they get around, or walking. It's always interesting to see how other people play in roadless worlds. Good use of the right mods is crucial I'd say

I'm pretty sure we're talking past each other, and we have very different play styles.

I am concerned with lag. The game pushes inactive sims to various destinations around the neighborhood. In my experience, if these inactives are forced to walk long distances to these locations on a roadless world, the save will bog down with lag.

Keep in mind that inactives aren't always pushed to work. Sometimes they're pushed to a park or other public lots.

I play in Praaven Reworked, and my game bogged down with lag until I enabled inactives using the subway.

I originally posted because I want to experiment with a historical world with roads to see how that plays and how immersive it feels. I do realize that the default replacement vehicles don't have animated wheels.
