Did you find that mod here on MTS? That sounds great, to give Townies homes! haha... I did wish to be able to make 55+ communities, for elder sims. I wouldn't think of it as "rent," as much as a HOA fee for their townhouse or condos. But the only way I found to achieve that was in one of Chris Hatch's mods, that did a lot of other things I wasn't interested in. Anyway... if you remember where you found that, it would be awesome!

I don't remember exactly... He released it like, 7 or 8 years ago, and i remember reading it and thinking, "well... i'd be able to do the 55+ communities, but I'd have to allow __________." If memory serves me, it had something to do with teens and/or YAs. Something like teens moving into apartments on their own, or something. Maybe? I would have to go back and read the details and my password on MambaCity doesn't work anymore. If you have a working account there, I think I commented on it at the time. It's a good, solid mod, don't get me wrong. It just did things I didn't want.

Ignore my link. I found it and then wondered why I didn't have it in my hacks folder. It's because I replaced it with the one Sim Sample mentioned. XD

As for the retirement village. I wanted it without all the other stuff as well, just wanted to make sure it wasn't the separated one that you didn't like. Because when asked to separate just the retirement stuff he did. This one just restricts neighbours moving in to elders if you put the birdbath on the lot.

I hate playing apartments (they are just too small) - but there are plenty of apartments with cheaper and more expensive units around. You never have to play one (but I'd still say try, you may be one of the players who really enjoy them)?

As for the rest of the EP - I don't think I can live without it. I adore the social townies, their greetings, the networking (especially the expensive objects they give to my sims to "test") - while nobody else seems to like them, I think they are spectacular.

I also love the new interactions, the build and buy objects, etc. Even if I never play apartments, I can never see it as my least favourite EP. I have not modded anything out.

The thing that is drivin me totally bonkers right now and wish there was a mod for it (if there is one please direct me towards it) .. the thought bubbles poppin up whenever someone is using the toilet or takin a bath .. even if the sim has no need to use either or there are other facilities available .. you can't see any other thought bubbles because that is always on top of any and all .. it's anoyin as all get out
