Default How to create perfect sims using Facegen!!! (Yeah, it's real!!!)
First of all: Software needed:
(1) Facegen:
It's free now, I guess
(2) Milkshape:
You all know how to get it
(3) SimPe:
And that's free
(4) Meshtool:
Somewhere on this site
(5) Image editor:
I use gimp, easy, free
(6) Sqirlz Morph:
For creating the eyes

Second:
Files Needed:
(1) Face template:
I used oepu's one here:
http://modthesims.info/download.php...=0&page=3&pp=25

but you can use anyone, I just wanted to replace the heart face

(2) My sims 2 facegen modelset created by me: (link updated 09-01-2015)
https://www.mediafire.com/?1co6660utb414te

Third:
Tutorial:

Part A: Using Facegen:

(1) After you have downloaded the modelset, extract the folder named 'csamsimsgen' and put it in:
C:\Documents and Settings\Your Username\Application Data\FaceGen\Modeller3\ModelSets

(2) Open facegen and perepare the face you would like to creat a sim for it, you actually need one front photo, that would be enough, so I used the one here:
http://www.thatsmyface.com/componen.../task,view_job/
and I placed the facial points as it said and so:

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

(3) On facegen press "Model" tab and then "Change Model Set" and then scroll the "New Model Set" from "Facegen Default Model V3" to "simsgen", press ok.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

(4) On facegen press "Change Polys", and remove "head"

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

(5) On facegen, Press File, then Export, and I suggest that you make a new folder for what you will export, then enter file name as "1" (or anything you can remember, actually doesn't matter), and filetype as it is (wavefront .obj), then on "Model Export Option", make the "Texture Image Type" bmp and the "Image Size" full size, and change nothing else!

(6) Once on facegen again press "change polys" and then "Remove All", but this time bring back "head" to the parts shown

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

(7) Then same as 5, export the file, name it as "2" or anything else you can remember, same model export options (bmp, full size)

Part B: Creating the sim face using Milkshape, SimPE and Meshtool:

(1) Open Milkshape, File--->Import--->Wavefront .obj, Now go to the folder you exported the stuff from facegen to, and choose the .obj file you exported from step 7 in part A, you should have something like that:

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

(2) Then on Milkshape, change the right tab from "Model" to "Group", rename the model from "head" to "face", then change the tab to Materials and delete any textures

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

(3) On Milkshape, File--->Export--->Wavefront .obj, rename it as "3" or anything you can remember

(4) Open Simpe, open the face template package (in my case, it was called facefile_adultfemale01-heart.package)

(5) Extract the second resource (afArchHeart_tslocator_gmdc) to somewhere you can remember

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

(6) Now open meshtool, now on Step 1, Load the .obj file you exported from step 3 in part B
Step 2, Load the mesh extracted from the previous step (change "files of type:" from .simpe to .5gd)
Step 3, the settings, uncheck import UVs and import Normals
Step 4, save the file as "mesh1" or any name you can remember

(7) Back to SimPe, Replace the second resource (afArchHeart_tslocator_gmdc) by the mesh you created from the previous step, save the package in the Sims 2 Downloads folder

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Part C: Creating the Skin:
(1) I assume that you already know how to create a new skintone, so go to the files we exported from step 5 in part A, you will find a file like this:

(2) Add the teeth to the skin after you have resized it

Uploaded with ImageShack.us
Uploaded with ImageShack.us
Resize it to 512x512, and then replace it by the adult female face in your skintone, named afface~face~stdMatBaseTextureName

That's it!

Part D: Creating the Eyes:
(1) I assume that you already know how to create a new eye, so after go to the files exported from step 5 in part A, you will find two bmps representing the two eyes, named something_leye and something_reye, anyway, open both files in Sqirlz Morph

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

(2) Move the cursor till it is 10/20, then press these two small papers where it reads "Copy To New Image Window"

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

(3) File--->save as--->image files

(4) Now resize the file saved from 3 and replace it with the one from your newly created eye named stdMatBaseTextureName

If you followed the above steps, you should have something like that:

An interesting idea, though I wouldn't exactly call the results perfect. Seems quite blurry and very blotchy - makes her cheeks look very acne-scarred. It might be an interesting technique to get the start of a texture for photoskinning, but you'd still want to remove things like the eyes, lipstick, and eyebrows to do those separately, smooth out the textures of the face, and blend it with the body texture.

I know that this is probably a really old thread but, is there any way that you could give me your sims 2 models for facegen? It would really help.

I realized that this template is only suitable for the creation of female's faces because of the different number of vertices. For female template - 571. It is a pity that there are no templates for different age and gender, but I hope that the author will continue to work on this! :lovestruc

And whether it is possible to somehow change the height of this face template (simsgen set) so that it is suitable for other ages? For male characters, I managed to do it, even a very cute character turned out! Creating of the new simsgen for all-ages - teen, child, toddler - it's too difficult for me... For elder women and elder men it's worked, they are of the same height. Although in the male face there are some shortcomings that can be disguised. But created sims still have a broken face template, this upsets me ... All my characters is adult and elder only...

Ok, now i can create for all ages and genders except toddler (it have too little face), by some different way:

You should put models along this path: C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\FaceGen\Modeller3\ModelSets
But first, you need to select the properties of files and folders in Windows Explorer - show hidden files and folders.

Hey, everybody. I tried this program and I really enjoyed making celebrity faces there, but I noticed that my results made in Facegen are very different in Milkshape. And I don't understand why this is so... I would be glad if you could help me to solve this problem.

I used a translator to compose this text. Please forgive me for any mistakes, I do not know English.
