This user has the following games installed:

Sims 2, University, Nightlife, Open for Business
Default Advice needed: transfer downloads from one computer to another?
So, I've just about given up hope of restoring all my downloads and everything post-University install. I work two jobs so my time is limited. I want to play the game to enjoy it. I don't want to spend hours on end in frustration trying to make it work. So... I've decided to do something.

I'm just going to copy my existing Sims2 folder in My Documents to another location, then restart the game with a blank slate. I'm on vacation next week and will be taking my laptop with me. I'm going to spend a bit of my vacation time downloading tons of stuff for The Sims 2.

Now, here's where I need advice. I usually do NOT use my laptop for The Sims 2 (it actually belongs to the non-profit org I'm director of, so I try to keep my personal stuff off of it). Rather, I use my own personal desktop computer to play. Seeing as I'm not gonna lug a desktop on vacation, can I safely download all these wonderful things to my laptop and then simply copy over the Downloads and Neighborhoods folder to my desktop computer when I get home?

Advice or suggestions are welcome. I don't head out of town until Monday or Tuesday.
