Default Does SMD file contain animation info? or it only contains skeleton and mesh?
Hi all

I have selected an ANIM file in SimPE and exported it as a SMD file. Then I imported it to 3ds max. All I got is a face mesh and some joints. The mesh can't animate.
So, how can I get animations in 3ds max? any replies will be appreciated.

Thanks

Smd format by itself supports animation info, but there's currently no exporter from ANIM to smd. There's no fully working exporters for ANIM, really - only importers.
So, your best choice is to use Milkshape and AniMesh.

The faces meshes are animated using vertex animation, also called morphs. Faces are probably better left edited using the built in tool in the game, and then Sim Surgery to deploy it.

Body meshes can, after much coaxing (you need a CRES, a GMDC and the ANIM all to be in teh same package), be exported from SimPE with animations, but I have never tried it with SMD format. Since neither SMD nor MilkShape ASCII format support IK animations, the majority of the body mesh animation data (arm and leg movements) will be lost anyway.
