I just had a very sad thought . With no CaSt in Sims 4, we couldn't have even done this contest to any degree of merit.

started to play in a house in Bridgeport the other day, but it's lack of seasons compatibility just put me off it. I do realise Sunset Valley and Bridgeport were made before Seasons, but I prefer houses to look as though they are fully functional
@LucyBorgia, I cannot play Bridgeport due to the exceedingly slow time on the elevators, and the numerous routing bugs that force Sims to go out of their apartments before returning for mundane tasks like washing dishes in some of the apartments. There was a great mod hosted here from many years ago that sped up elevators and subways, but it doesn't work any more and I just have not been motivated to fix the code. I write LUA for World of Warcraft, and to be honest all my hard-core modding goes into that... I just like building houses and commercial lots in the Sims.

I never get very far playing in Bridgeport, for the same reasons. It's a shame because I wanted a city feel for the family I was going to play, so just went off to play another save instead.
I rebuilt many of the Bridgeport lots to use stairs rather than the elevators. For the ones I couldn't, I just use the "teleport here" cheat. (Which I use a lot anyway, as many things take too long IMHO and I use it as a way to balance things out.)
Sarcasm is a body's natural defense against stupid.
I've tried to play in Bridgeport only once, and it was just after installing Late Night (my first EP, just over a year ago), and all my excitement with clubs and apartments ended with those elevators :P
But I liked that thing about redecorating without changing walls etc., now I'm thinking about redecorate Modernehaus for my sims in Sunlit Tides, since I think I had messed something in their current home while trying to build a basement and used CFE in it (perhaps CFE has nothing with it, but I've just got quite paranoid with that and now I want to move them out)
I'm bad at finding CC on my own My simblr
I'm shy and so I might take longer to reply you '-'
I mentioned some time ago that I got bored one day and started redesigning the first two homes for the other families. I entered Home 1 as the Smiths. Just for kicks and giggles, here is my re-imagined House 1 for the Adams. No cc was used in the production of this lot (but copious store content). The Adams don’t seem to mind the downgrade as they spend significant portions of their time outside in the garden (at night, of course!). Judges, if you happen to look you might notice I actually took your critiques to heart (no saying if I've managed to do more things you hate, of course!).
I've really valued the opportunity to get feedback on my designs. Its not perfect, there's no back-and-forth discussion (I think everyone's felt that at times) but getting other people's critical evaluations is invaluable in developing any skill. Thank you again to Blake & the mods & the judges for your time, and to everyone for participating!
That's great, Tiraslin! The only thing I might change is to recolour the pool tiles as they really stand out as they are such a bright blue in contrast to the lovely darkness of the rest of the lot
Just an update on the scores, everyone. Thank you all for being so patient, I can imagine it being very nerve racking on the last round. Especially since this will be the round where the winner is announced! I can assure that all of the judges are working extremely hard and that they're so very close to being finished. I'd like to thank all of you for such a fun, wonderful contest and I'll be back posting here the second those scores are finished.
Just call me Blake! :)

I just had a very sad thought . With no CaSt in Sims 4, we couldn't have even done this contest to any degree of merit.
Oh I know! No CAST is primary deal-breaker with Sims 4 for me. But that's okay, I'm perfectly happy with 3.
@BlakeS5678 and the judges: Thanks so much for this contest. It has been great fun and SUCH a challenge. I think of myself as a builder first and only a decorator as a by-product. So decorating without being to adjust structure on a whim has been crazy work and a strain on the ol' creativity gland. Thanks to all the other participants as well. It been thrilling to see everyone's genius solutions and creativity.
Judge 1: 8 /10 - Front of house looks good, but the back looks empty. You have two living areas but don't have tv anywhere. Nursery and girls room look empty.
Judge 2: 8 /10 - Some of the furniture is...odd. I love the master bath in the upstairs, great use for that space. Maybe having the windows with flower boxes would have helped the exterior.
Judge 3: 8/10 - I liked the addition of the stairs going from the main deck to the observation area. Not all rooms felt like they had a Spanish influence but all the furniture was well placed.
Family Needs:
Judge 1: 4/5 - Inside of the house is not very spanish.
Judge 2: 5/5 - Needs were met

Judge 1: 4/5 - I don't like that you deleted the stairs and put a bench and brown chairs in the dining room. It looks weird.

Judge 1: 6/10 - You used too many colors and paterns in every room. I don't like rugs. Some of the rooms looks unfinished. I like the garden, its nice.
Judge 2: 7/10 - It just… I dunno. Maybe its the colors, or the patterns, or the number of different colors and patterns; it just doesn’t feel...finished? It’s almost like every room was done by a different person. Love the gardens, except the bike area. Would have kept using the same terrain paint as the walk.
Judge 3: 4/10 -Too many different patterns on the walls and furniture. I did not like the rugs.

Judge 2: 6/10 -Too many different textures on the exterior. Doesn’t read as Spanish vs generic Mediterranean .
Judge 3: 8/10 - I really liked your kitchen and the gazebo area in the yard. You did a nice job of unifying the decor.

Judge 1: 7/10 - I like furniture you used in this house. Kitchen is very pretty with those yellow chairs, but dining room is too colorful, chairs, blinds and wall covering, everything is too much. Livingroom, bedrooms and bathrooms looks very good. Outside of the house there’s too much white and black. And the white rock floor on the outside not look very well. You should use more bushes and green things.
Judge 2: 6/10 - I love that you moved the kitchen into the main room, but not that it invalidates the fireplace. Just say no to the Black/white = modern. Too much hardscape outdoors.
Judge 3: 6/10 - I understand the look you were going for but it didn't sit too well with me. Some of the patterns on the walls way too busy / bright for my liking while the outside of the house seemed too plain.

Judge 3: 3/5 - I don’t see a purpose to adding the twin beds to the daughters room. Shes a toddler and too young to have sleep overs. If she did have guests over it would be more of a playdate with children her own age (ie other toddlers). For that you’d need extra cribs. I would have instead liked to have seen that area opened up and added additional play space for her.

Judge 1: 7/10 - Outside of house and garden is beautiful. Furniture u used is good but I dont like colors u used. There is too much brown color and it is not going very good with red color.
Judge 2: 9/10 - Great job, except the color choices. The red/chocolate is trite, and the 60’s colors are not quite right either.
Judge 3: 6/10 - I loved the outside of your house… but hated the inside. I’m not a fan of blood red furniture and fixtures. To me it comes across as tacky rather than gothic.
Family Needs:
Judge 1: 4.5 /5 - There is a lot of egyptian items, but some of them fits well in the house.

Judge 2: 8/10 - Love the Carpenter Gothic look, the Black/Grey/Red colors are trite. Some interior textures/ colors stick out too much, even if they are the better choice than the overall BGR theme
Judge 3: 5/10 - When I think of gothic I think of gothic victorian. I unfortunately did not get this feeling from your house. I think the issue was the furniture and counter choices. To me they felt too modern.

Judge 2: 4/10 - Too many different colors and patterns all fighting with each other. Many rooms feel unfinished and need decor elements. The conical roof doesn’t work, and the ground texture is overused.
Judge 3: 5/10 - Too many bold colours and patterns were used inside the house. Adding ceiling paint would help. Although I am not a fan of the colour palette that was used in the garden I REALLY liked how everything was laid out.

Judge 2: 5/10 - This home comes across as more modern than Gothic. Many items that I guess are supposed to be pale wood actually come across as aluminum, hence have a modern feel even if the style isn’t. The color choices are trite.
Judge 3: 5/10 - I would have liked to have seen more done with the yard. Additional ground texture/paint would have added character to the property. The prevalence of gray, black and red does not make a house gothic. When I think of gothic I think of gothic victorian. Your house felt too modern.

Judge 2: 7/10 - The exterior doesn’t read as modern. Maybe using cement textures rather than wood would have been better. (I find the colors ok, just not the textures.)
Judge 3: 7/10 - Your house felt a little plain. I would have liked to have seen more clutter that represented each family member's personality. ie. random sports memorability, more toys for the daughter etc. As is, you have the bare bones of the house but it doesn’t feel like a home.
Judge 1: 3/5 - Too simple and empty rooms. Too big bathroom empty. Bathtub in the bedroom.

Judge 1: 8/10 - Too much of black and white everywhere. I dont like carpet in kids room. Furniture placement is excellent, big kitchen and table for 8 is great. It would be better if you use one more color. Even outside is all black and white, with those bushes it looks beautiful.
Judge 2: 9/10 - This round, this is the home I hate to love! I really need to step back from my personal tastes to see just how well it is actually done. That being said, there is too little variation, and maybe just a little more...not color exactly, maybe a greater range of blacks/whites/greys. (blacks/beiges/greys maybe?)
Judge 3: 8/10 - I like the hedging in the yard. I understand the look you were trying to achieve with the all white but your home came across too sterile because of it. Adding 1 or 2 soft unifying accenting colours throughout your home would have easily taken it from nice to WOW.

Judge 1: 8 /10 - Outside of house is beautiful. That round window looks great. I like carpets and pictures you used. Child room and bathroom have too much purple and first floor have too much brown everywhere. Maybe if you use accent color maybe green like carpet in the bathroom it would look better. I think this is your best house in this competition and best house in this round. Great job!
Judge 2: 9/10 - Well done! I think the exterior walls could have used a better texture, softer purples in Kelly’s bedroom & bath, and I really, really, really hate the viewing platform, would have replaced the mansard with appropriate other styles (half gable & half hipped) and adjusted those; but that last is personal preference.

Congratulations to our winners kasandro and cutsocks! Tying at 238.5 points! Congratulations, both of your wins are extremely well deserved. Another round of applause for our runner up Tiraslin coming in extremely close at 234 points, as well, please. I was very impressed by all of the contestants entries, and I think that even having the dedication to finish all four rounds of a contest is quite a grand achievement in itself.
Just call me Blake! :)
Hola, hablo español también - Hi, I speak Spanish too.
I want to thank everyone for making this such a great contest. There were so many beautiful entries,
and it was fun comparing the different solutions to the structural problems presented by these four houses.
It's so clear that the judges and our host worked very hard, and it made the difference. Thank you. :lovestruc
I tried to justify and sell the Egyptian influence of the house, but maybe the judges didn't read my briefing, or just they didn't bought it.
Anyway, thanks to everyone. To Blake for creating this, to the judges for the time spend on judging us and to the other contestants for giving some great ideas.
And congratulations to cutsocks!
And another thing, this contest and the good scores that judges gave me, made me start uploading houses to the community, so thanks for that too!
Yes, thank you to the judges for their hard work, and congratulations to all of us who made it through all four rounds, and I'm looking forward to doing better in the next one! Congratulations, cutsocks and kasandro!!
Congratulations to everyone for finishing all 4 rounds and to the two winners! Well done guys.
Achievements have been handed out. Remember, the hosted/judged/participated only apply if you finished the whole contest and can only be given once. If you already had them from a previous contest, you won't see anything new. However, you CAN win a blue ribbon more than once!
Again, congratulations everyone. This contest is now closed.
