Yikes. Sucks how a rather small problem is deemed 'unrepairable'.

I've been trying my best to save up for a new laptop.

I've opened my site to all guests, no registration required.
I did a remake of a small Maxis Lot from Veronaville, a starter, picture below.
I made the old 'Mike Inside' tutorials available. Those will never get old, as people are always still asking about tutorials for the CFE cheat in particular. MTS used to host them here somewhere, but I can't find them anymore. Luckily I saved them several years ago.
All at my website, link in my signature.

A lot of them are on the Wiki (maintained by MTS) ie: http://simswiki.info/wiki.php?title...tairs_Tutorials
...which links up to here: http://mikeinside.modthesims2.com/b...wall/index.html

MikeInside is still there, as CatherineTCJD linked. I don't think it's linked from anywhere on the site other thsn the wiki though. But the main page is here:

Catherine and simsample, the majority of the links within those three pages are dead.
simsample, everything except three 'Building Guides' inside that main page is dead.

@ScaryRob It all works for me except for the forum (and of course his house downloads were linked to the forum, but you could recreate them from the images). All of the tutorials work for me, I can read them all with images, but in any case, an archive of them is very useful and good to have.

Firefox and ublock origin. Could be that your browser is automatically redirecting to https, in which case the site won't work. If that is so then you could view it through the web archive:

Chrome most certainly is. First time I couldn't get to a website because of the browser I was using. Maybe time to switch back to Firefox.
Yes, I saw the internet archive pages.
Thanks.

Edit: OK, switched to Firefox and everything works now. Thanks for your help.
Also, Firefox is so much quicker than Chrome. I used it for a long time, until a few years ago when Chrome seemed better.

My newest is Redux73RtN_1+BR_NCC, a remake of Maxis' 73 Road to Nowhere, from Strangetown.
The Maxis original seemed like a hopeless piece of 5-minute trash, one of their worst, but the other day someone uploaded a considerably altered version to their Tumblr. I liked it, although I thought it still needed some changes, so I made my own redux. So this is actually more of a redux of someone else's redux, rather than of the Maxis original. I really like how it turned out.
Details at my site.

You don't make those available?
The apartment building looks stunning. Well, they all do, but especially the apartment building.
Edit: How can I bribe you for the floorplan to that?

@ScaryRob Yes, the world is a rebuild of a very old one of mine that I never shared- I'm remaking it with a lot of the original buildings (making them fresh in the new hood) and adding some new ones, it's all going to be Maxis assets only. I will share as soon as I finish it.

BTW I always find it really hard to get people to test my hoods- I have one completed ages ago (with a custom career I made for it), again Maxis assets apart from the career, but so far not too many testers. It's been ready to upload since January, but I want people to test it before I upload and I won't be uploading this new one until that one's done!

So if anyone can help....?

Screenshots for the Caringal floorplans are attached.

The staircases could probably be done more authentically by using the constrainfloorelevation cheat and modular stairs, however none of the in-game stairs really work for that (they have structures beneath them except for the open stairs without risers). Using CC would make a far more accurate copy, but I specifically like my shared hoods to be CC free.

So I used the spiral stairs as I like the way playful sims can slide down them, and they are aesthetically pleasing in a way that my constrainfloorelevation attempts with the open tread stairs were not.

To allow the apartments to have back doors to access the trash chute, as in the real apartments, I used the unlocked in-game invisible fence.

The fence is placed to allow sims to access their trash chute from the back door, but not the staircase (which can only be accessed from ground or roof). One could replace the unpassable invisible fence with the 'Great Divide' edge strip (so that sims could step over and get to the staircase too), but these have some weird effects in apartments (they do work, but you will have random sims walking through your house to use your balcony).

There is a lift on every floor, so sims use that instead, not a brilliant compromise but the best I could figure out with the in-game assets. I'm sure you could make a much better attempt!

Godleof made a nice tutorial about unlocking hidden game items, including the fence:

I hope this helps!

If that's the required or expected bribe, I have to pass. Firstly, I've never even installed a custom hood and I am so busy lately with RL it's unbelievable.
But I am curious, what's involved in testing a hood? I've obviously done my share of Lot testing, but never an entire hood.

I also don't care for CFE stairs (or CFE in general, as I use it sparingly most of the time) and I don't think I have a single one in any of my 75 uploaded houses.

The spiral stairs is what intrigued me, since they appear from the original picture you posted to give access to each apartment, despite my (correct) assumption that there likely was also an elevator inside. Two access point to an apartment doesn't typically work, hence my intrigue.

I was not aware such an object existed. Not in-game anyway. I am of course aware of the CC invisible fence.

So, presumably, the spiral stairs are mainly for aesthetics, in order to mimic the RL building?
If so, I would leave them out altogether and just give each apartment a terrace. It struck me a little odd to see spiral stairs outside a high rise apartment like this, as you wouldn't see this in RL (too dangerous). They somewhat detract from a realism standpoint. Don't worry, the building looks stunning otherwise, those stairs aren't needed, imo. That's my constructive criticism (that you knew was coming )

I tried something similar with one of my apartments about ten years ago and had the same experience. It's not worth the trouble, imo.

So the RL building doesn't have an elevator?

Thank you, I'll check that out.

Edit: I like your Channelwood hood. I like that the streets are realistically close together, unlike most hoods that people make where streets are too far apart.
That island hood for which you're looking for testers looks very cool too.
