Default Introductions
So, the purpose of this group, to get that out right away, is in dedication of board games and pen and paper games.

As much as I love PC and video games, I also enjoy board games and Dungeons & Dragons, of which I play 3.5e and 4e. As for board games, it's something I have only got into fairly recently. Although I enjoyed well-known games like, uh, Clue, for example, it wasn't until no more than a year, year-and-a-half (maybe two) that I became interested in lesser-known games, thanks to a friends of my sister who play a lot.

The first not-so-well-known game was Puerto Rico (which I sadly do not own). I would say my favorite games are Fire & Axe (which is sadly out-of-print) and Betrayal at House on the Hill (or just Betrayal for short).

As for D&D, I also started relatively recently (a few years ago). I haven't done any DM'ing, but I'm hoping to give it a try and am currently planning for my first venture into it.

Is that a shillelagh in your pocket, or are you just sinning against God?

I love PnP games, like most I started out with DnD. Started playing that back in the 6th grade. I'm 36 now so that's been a good long time ago. Got the boxed starter set from Starbase 21. (local gaming shop). Move into Shadowrun because I don't really like fantasy very much and I was always stuck being the GM. After I got into highschool I got into Rifts and was hooked. I didn't really get to play much because the game was pretty much unheard of. I dabbled in Cyberpunk and Mekton Z, even dabbled in Robotech as it followed the same rule sets as Rifts did.

After graduating highschool and getting married my step-daughters were into anything remotely resembling games. We had nights where we played Monopoly till the wee hours. My wife got more into Mekton Z because it was a good base for miniatures and she absolutely loved making stuff, she took a 6ft by 8ft table and built a scale city that was probably good enough to be featured in a movie special FX prop. Her miniatures were awesome.

My wife eventually encouraged me to make my own games, which I wrote an old west style of PnP game that we played. She eventually pushed me into going back to school for my 3rd degree which was going to be computer programming but the course was changed halfway through to web development. I got a half ass education in programming and web development, but Origin Systems liked me and I got hired with them and I was instrumental in the creation of Trammel. At the time Ultima Online was hemorrhaging players so fast that the game WAS going to shut down. Less than 5% of the playerbase liked pvp and the majority of that 5% were actually "reds" which did nothing but grief other players. Despite what the pvp'rs wanted everyone to believe, MOST of the players in UO did NOT want pvp. EA eventually took over Origin and they in turn canned almost the entire staff.

A couple of years or so later I was hired on at Westwood Online, they didn't hire me because of my resume they hired me because of my ideas on games. While I really didn't do a whole lot for Westwood, mostly just QA type stuff. EA bought them out and as usually termed almost the entire staff, then a year later they killed Earth and Beyond.

I haven't worked in that industry since.

Anyway, my wife encouraged me to keep writing and I've written 2.5 complete PnP games, the 3rd one I never completely finished, it started out as a PnP but then I decided to make it into an MMORPG. I've rewritten the rules so many times to be compatible with dice and as a computer game that I got burned out on it. My wife told me I made it to big, but I wanted this one game to be so epic that a person could literally do anything within the game.

When we got hit by a drunk driver and I lost pretty much my entire family I all but gave up on writing anything. I still play the random game but mainly just with my surviving step-daughter. But she's so busy now with her own life that our games are usually brief or just a simple board/card game.

It would be awesome to find a group for Rifts/Cyberpunk or something techy based. I don't care to much for fantasy, elves make me mad and I just want to kick gnomes and castrate kinders.
