Remove Footprints from Sims 3 Store Content?
Hello ModTheSims,

So I have a Castle in my Game. I want a Spiral Staircase surrounded by Towering Tower Corner Wall By Castle Kits, Inc. and Towering Tower Corner Wall with a View By Castle Kits, Inc. objects from The Complete Castle by Castle Kits, Inc. Sims 3 Store Pack. Basically creating a Round Tower with a Spiral Staircase going down.

I setup 2 Spiral Staircases going up multiple floors, then created walls around them, added invisible windows and then added the Tower Corner Walls with movobjects on circling around the Stairs. All is looking good ...

Except for the fact that my Sims can't use the Stairs now. Well, they seem to be able to go UP the Stairs, but not DOWN the Stairs.

I'm assuming its the Corner Wall Footprint that is the issue, as there are 2 of the 3 Corner Walls intersecting with the landing tile for the Stairs. When I remove the Corner Walls, my Sims can use the Spiral Stairs (the Invisible Windows I downloaded don't seem to be the issue).

I'm assuming the best solution would be to use S3PE and change the Objects' Footprints, yes? I found this thread and have been trying to follow it ... but there's a problem: when I try opening CastleExterior.Sims3Pack in S3PE:

Right, Sims 3 Store Packs can't be edited by S3PE.

So here's my question: is there some way to remove the footprints of a Sims 3 Store Pack? Should I be trying to open some other file instead to edit the Tower Corner Wall Objects in S3PE? Is there some other Tool or Cheat I could use to remove the Footprint from these Objects? Maybe someone else updated these specific Object Footprints? Or maybe there is some cheat so my Sims ignore the Objects' Footprints?

(And yes, I'm aware I could set the 2x2 Tower Corner Walls outside the Spiral Staircase Footprint completely, but it would look real ugly; plus the current Corner Walls and Spiral Staircase are really a perfect match being so close together like that)

I'm not sure Sims3Pack files work with SP3E. I say this because I tried several different Sims3Pack files (including Sims I created, without any CC), and I got the same error message in SP3E.

I forgot about Delphy's Sims 3 Pack Multi-Extracter. So I unpacked CastleExterior.Sims3Pack, and tried opening 1 of a couple dozen Package files (I assume each is of a different item from the Pack). SP3E still gives me the same warning. The only files I've been able to open in SP3E so far are Package files that didn't in some way originate as Sims 3 Store Items.

I have to believe there is some way to remove the Footprints from Sims 3 Store Objects somehow, perhaps via some glitch or cheat in-game for placed objects. Just seems weird Sims 3 doesn't offer such a function to Players who enjoy building.

Hello @names_are_useless
Apart from Delphi's Multi-Pack Installer, you also need the s3rc tool too.
I did search for a link for you to download the s3rc compressor tool but the web page is considered not secure by my browser.

On my desktop I created two folders and named them Sims3 Pack and Converted Package. and placed the desktop icons for these 2 programs beside them.
Basically you copy your Store item (or set) and put it in your Sims3 Pack folder, open Delphi's Multi-Pack Installer and it extracts in about a second.
Open your Converted Package folder click on the item (or if a set all of them) and drag over to the s3rc - a windows box opens. This can take less than a minute or longer depending on how many items are in the folder and closes on completion.
Then go into s3pe, click the header "File" and open and browse to the location of the converted folder and open your first item. I generally click on the thumbnail (near the bottom of the files) to see what it is).
Hope this helps?
Good luck!

OK, I got some Good News and Bad News.

GOOD NEWS: My Corner Walls no longer hinder my Sims!

So what did I do?

1. I downloaded a pirated version of CastleExterior.Sims3Pack. I already bought the original with Sims Points long ago with Points I got for buying the game, so I don't feel particularly guilty for doing so.
2. I extracted the Sims3Pack using Delphy's Sims 3 Pack Multi-Extracter successfully. I extracted them to my Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\Overrides folder (I figure it's good Override is a better place then Packages in this instance, right?). (Ladysimplayer8: is the s3rc tool still necessary?)
3. I was able to open each of the package files. I found the Towering Tower Corner Wall By Castle Kits, Inc. and Towering Tower Corner Wall with a View By Castle Kits, Inc. objects by looking at 1 of the THUM Tag. I did not rename the 2 package files. I deleted the others from the Override folder.
4. I proceeded to follow these instructions for the 2 packages.

After updating the 2 package files, I opened Sims 3. And eureka! My Sims are now able to go up and down the spiral staircase with the Corner Walls surrounding them!

A few tips about the procedures in Step 4:

* When the poster says +, they mean opening the > dropdown.
* You may need to expand the various Data Grid pop-ups. Before I did, I never saw the OK button.
* The SurfaceTypeFlags and SurfaceAttributeFlags attributes for these 2 objects were already set to 0x00000003.

------------------------------------------------------

BAD NEWS: In-game, the Corner Walls still have a 2x2 Footprint, so I can pick them up and move them. I tried copying 1 of the 2 Corner Walls with the Eyedropper Tool and place the copy, and it crashed my game.

Also, in Buy Mode, there is now a Store Copy and a Mod Copy of Towering Tower Corner Wall By Castle Kits, Inc.. There is still only a Store Copy of Towering Tower Corner Wall with a View By Castle Kits, Inc.. I'm not sure why I have 2 copies of 1 but only 1 of the other.

SOMEWHAT GOOD NEWS: I loaded the game back up, and I tested a few things:

* If I move the Corner Walls currently in the game, the game will not crash
* If I buy a new 1 of either of the 2 Corner Walls (I buy the Store Copy in Buy Mode as opposed to the Mod one), the game not crash
* I have yet to test the Mod copy, but will probably avoid anyways since the Store Copy is fine
* If I use the Eyedropper Tool on a Corner Wall I bought, the game not crash

I took necessary precautions by deleting the original Corner Walls on the Lots and replacing them with new ones (and not using the Eyedropper Tool).

Hello @names_are_useless
As you have found another way to open the files - you don't need to download the sr3c program.
I use it as I am mainly a converter e.g. TS3_TS2 in order to open it in TSR Workshop.
RE the Castle Exterior Store Set, personally I longed to have it for ages but it rarely showed on the daily deals. I was disappointed to find that the pieces don't fit together without using the moveobjects on cheat. I am of the opinion that the set was not made very well so fingers crossed if you are able to fix some of the issues.

Not sure if you ever managed to fix this yourself. I have however got it working in my own game and shared it for anyone else who might like it. https://www.tumblr.com/blog/view/bi...04?source=share
