I've been using modthesims for many years, but recently (maybe for 1 or 2 weeks, I think?), I noticed the site has been loading extremely slowly for me. Loading the page for an item can take many minutes (if it loads). I haven't noticed other websites with this problem.

I'm not sure if this helps, but here is some info about my environment:

I tried clearing cookies for the page, but that was no help. Opening in incognito (where most extensions are disabled) doesn't help me either.
Opening the website on any of my Android mobile browsers (Chrome and Vivaldi) seems to have the same problem.

Does anyone have any idea what could be happening? Anyone else experience the same?

@Spore_Adeto Are you using the same network/ internet connection each time? If so, is it possible to test one of your devices on a different connection? Perhaps your ISP is causing an issue?

That's a possibility, I tried using 4G on my mobile, and things seemed a little better. Well, there was still some slowness, but perhaps from being on a mobile connection... I just noticed The Sims Resource is also pretty slow

I've just come back to MTS to seriously download mods after the download page redesign, and I've noticed this as well.
It seems when there is a gif thumbnail on the downloads page, the site will try and load the gif thumbnail before everything else after it on the page. If I open a mod page as this is happening, the images on the mod page will also not load.

Aside from this, the site loads fine for me.

Do you have an example where this is happening? It sounds to me more like a slower connection for image loading than anything else

It's been happening to me at TS3's newest downloads page 1, the images load properly until the "Street Food Spectacle mod!" mod where they load slowly if at all.
If I open a mod page, the images will not load if the TS3 downloads page 1 is still open.
Tested on the TS2 and TS4 downloads page 1, where there are no gif thumbnails, the images load quickly for me, even in a singular mod's page.

Can confirm- this is happening for me too, although I have fast internet and it's only a second or so before the whole page loads.

Okay so somehow that user managed to upload a 179mb gif file as the cover image. That's why loading is so slow for everyone. I've swapped it out with the other image and let them know.

After a few weeks of slowness, the website seems to be fast again for me. Looks like the 179MB GIF file was the culprit. Thanks!
