Default Clothing Texture on Skin
Hello,

Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong here? I haven't worked with clothing in a while and I cannot for the life of me figure out what I've forgotten/done wrong.

Thanks in advance!

It's probably something to do with either the alpha or the way the UV is mapped onto the mesh, most likely the latter. That has to be fixed in a 3D program like Blender.

A stupid signature

I thought so too at first, but to me those two seem fine.

Are you using just one group?

For this type of mapping, you need one group for the skin parts, and one group for the jacket. Look at how it's done for TS3 or TS4 outfits, especially for tops/bottoms.

If it's done like this with just one group, anything that overlays the skin parts that are still showing will have texture on it. The long part at the bottom is mapped in the area of the legs.

You'll also want to name the group with the outfit "noblend" or some such, so the naming is different from most single-group tops/bottoms.

Hi!

Thank you for your reply! Is the title of "noblend" a mandatory thing for clothing? I named mine "s4mesh" (so, I have 2 groups; "s4mesh" and the standard "top").

I applied both the texture and the alpha to both of the groups, because when I didn't do that, the original shirt was still visible underneath my new mesh (see screenshot below).

Again, thank you for your reply!

The name doesn't matter too much, as long as it's different enough from what's already used ingame.

The group with skin parts often needs to be empty to properly display the skin (unless you want other texture on the skin parts). If it shows a shirt you don't want, you'll have to replace it with an empty texture.

If you're still having issues, could you upload the mesh and texture files?

Empty texture as in a black texture? Or an actual skin texture?

Empty - no texture or color.
If you're making a recolor in Bodyshop, fill the "alpha" texture (the black and white texture map) completely black.

In SimPE it should show up as the grey and white chequered background that shows up when there's no texture or transparency.
