This user has the following games installed:

Sims 2, University, Nightlife, Open for Business, Pets, Seasons, Bon Voyage, Free Time, Apartment Life
Default Sims 2 Freezes up when Lot is bulldozed
Hello Everyone,

I have this problem where when I want to bulldoze a lot for the first time in a new session of the game, the game completes it, but the second time I want to bulldoze a lot, the game stays at approximately 25%, and the game will still play the neighborhood music, and the Sims 2 Cursor will still function as normal, but the game will be frozen, and I have to sign out every time to close down the game.

This has just happened, and I had a crashing problem before, but it was when I would go into empty lots without visiting a pre-made lot, I fixed that problem by switching to a brand new pre-owned laptop.

This isn't a debilitating problem, but it's kinda scary to me, and I really want to find a fix. I thought it was my memory, but I have the Sims 2 Starter Pack, I did the Graphics Rules Maker, and I did the 4GB Patch numerous times. (Special thanks to PleasantSims https://pleasantsims.com/sims-2-windows-10/ )

Can someone please help me on my Delima.

Thanks,
Your Fellow Sims 2 Player and Part-Time Recolorer

With having a crashing problem before you may have broken this hood.
Don't know how old that pre-owned laptop is but it may not be good enough for sims 2.

The laptop runs the sims 2 better than the previous, but I need help on how to keep the crashes from happening again.

You said it was crashing before and this could have broken this hood in some way.
Crashing on bulldozing a lot is not good.
You may need to revert back to a back up before the crashing started.

ADD: You could try and go into the lot and deconstruct it then try to bulldoze it.

It sounds like your computer is not up to handle the Sims 2.
Either your running out of memory or hard drive space or something.

Do you have the 4Gb patch?

Did you use CC on the lots? Could be you've got some stubborn CC items that causes the game to freeze up. Some items can work fine on the lots, but cause issues elsewhere.

Have you tried if the same happens with a CC-free lot? (for instance try to place a maxis-made lot, then bulldoze it again).

Does the size of the lot matter? As in, does it happen with both small and big lots, and both with low/no-CC and heavy-CC lots?

Are sims living on the lot? (If so, make sure to move them out first).

Inside the doc folder where you have your downloads at, it called LotCatalog and inside that is all your lots in the lot bin.

The Clean Installer can do that, if talking about in game lots I have no idea on that but I don't ever remember one.

I don't know if SimPE can do in game lots or not I never used in on lots.

The Clean Installer only removes the actual CC items from the packaged lot file, so the lot will still have the CC references (if you have the objects in your Downloads folder, they'll be on the lot), and missing CC items will usually be replaced by EAxis items (or occasionally be missing).

I don't think there's a way to remove CC in SimPE (could be wrong, though)

If you need to remove the CC and have access to the lot, remove it before packaging/bulldozing/moving to lot bin/etc. - that way you also remove the object references.

I just left the game in the nick of the time that the freezing happened, I ran task manager and the game says Not Responding.
The memory column is at yellow, %71, and I'm guessing that it's running out of memory.

Does the Chris Hatch Lot Cleaner help with this problem? (It doesn't, I just did it)

What are your computer specs? (CPU/RAM/graphics/etc.)

Have you checked via the "config-log" file that the 4GB patch is actually working? "Memory" should say 4096MB if it's working. "Texture memory" should also say a reasonable number (at the very least 1500-2000++ mb)

The graphic chip (Intel UHD Graphics 620) could be causing some of the lagging/freezing, depending on what else it's got to work with. While it could be fine for some older games (possibly TS2, though the UC could be pushing it a bit), it's not designed to play newer games. Integrated graphic chips also tend to put more strain on the rest of the resources, like CPU and RAM.

Do you know the CPU and RAM specs of the laptop (right-click "this computer" in folder view, click "Properties". List installed RAM, CPU specs, + operating system)?

TS2 can only use 4 GB RAM with the 4GB fix, but your computer needs to have more than 4GB for the fix to work properly (6-8 minimum, preferably more if you have Windows 10 or 11, because those can be memory hogs when they want to).

Also make sure your game doesn't have anything to do with OneDrive (the folder path for your game in Documents should not have "OneDrive" in it).
