Default Deleting CC from a game
It's mutch easier to delete CC from a catalog because you can se the CC properly. I was deleting some of CC with CC cleaner and regular placing in trashcan, but that wasn't enought. If i delete firectly from a game, will it just hide or be deleted like when you use CC cleaner?

I think perhaps you are after the Sims 3 help board?

I don't think so Jo.

Yes, you can delete from the catalogue but there are things to bear in mind. Walls and floors (and terrain paints) can be deleted directly though be warned you won't be able to delete them if they are used on the lot you are in.

With objects, there are two parts to consider: the mesh and recolours. You need to delete the recolours first. You can use the swatch tool - click on the object (which you place on lot) with the swatch tool then use the delete button to remove all recolours. Only once you have done that should you delete the mesh itself which can be deleted direct from the catalogue (you'll need to remove the object you placed down first). Be careful here if you have any catalogue altering mods in your game because unless they are installed as intended, you will get EAxis objects showing up with a custom star. Deleting EAxis objects shouldn't be done unless you want to spend time fixing your game. If you delete the mesh without deleting the recolours first, you will leave orphan files in your downloads folder, cluttering it up.

With skins, it's a different matter altogether. Most of the time (there are some exceptions), you can only partially delete skins. What you can do is delete the texture in game but if you also have a custom mesh with that texture, that file will not be removed and has to be deleted by hand.

I no longer come over to MTS very often but if you would like to ask me a question then you can find me on tumblr or my own site tflc. TFLC has an archive of all my CC downloads.
I'm here on tumblr and my site, tflc

Thanks alot for the info and advice ! I won't delete EAxis objects so it's not a prob. I have too mutch unecessary CC objects and CAS stuff that are slowing down the game and it's hard to reconize them all in CC cleaner. Now my game will be much faster

I've never heard of cc cleaner being a sims 2 program.

It's not. It's a general program that cleans up your hard drive and registry.

The safest (for all 4 sims games) is usually to delete from the CC folder, and not from ingame/Bodyshop/similar. That way (at least if you have a somewhat clean Downlaods folder) you can remove meshes and recolors at the same time, and don't risk deleting files you shouldn't delete.

For TS2, the stuff you should not delete from anywhere are certain mods (like multi-PTs) and NPC-driven objects. These can potentially mess up your game if removed. Geneticized eyes and skins can also cause a lot of headache if deleted, and you may have to give sims new skins and eyes with SimPE before deleting them.

Missing hairs on downloaded/made sims can potentially create a little bit of mess in Bodyshop. Ingame, sims will usually be assigned a different hair, so it's usually not that big of a deal.

I know this is an old post, my apologies for resurrecting it.
But just to be clear, if I delete cc from bodyshop, does it delete from my downloads folder? Here's what I'm doing /thinking:

I've recently started downloading default replacements and realizing that just 1 default package file can replace like 20 cc package files! Plus a lot of the cc I have downloaded over the years have been made into defaults! I was amazed! I could cut my downloads folder in half! Do u know what that means for the 10 minutes it usually takes for my game to load?!! But I digress...

I've downloaded other programs to help me identify my cc (clothes I'm talking about) but none work like bodyshop for seeing exactly what the clothing looks like in game, so that I know exactly what I'm deleting. (if anyone knows of any other please let me know)

That being said, lets say I have cc that is unisex, like some child clothing, if I delete it in bodyshop under child female will it also be deleted under child male? which brings me back to my original question of will it delete from my downloads folder?

Hopefully I did not confuse anyone. I appreciate all your help and hard work.

Most of the time yes, occasionaly no.
It also deletes from SavedSims.

Deleting from Bodyshop does NOT delete meshes, but it will delete sims (only the actual sim template that shows in the catalog, not the CC they came with or any items tied to them) and recolors (clothes, hair, accessories, makeup, eyes, etc.). You'll have to delete each item one by one (except if items are bundled as all recolors + mesh in one file, I'm pretty sure deleting one item in Bodyshop will delete the whole bundled file along with the mesh).

In Bodyshop, don't delete default replacements, maxis addons (if repo'd to EAxis textures), or fixed/unlocked EAxis items, unless you're absolutely sure they've been made standalone. These items don't always have a trash bin icon, but in the cases they do, there's a risk it can delete ingame resources from the install files. Better safe than sorry - delete these from the Downloads folder.

The safest is to delete from the Downloads folder, especially if you're unsure.

Could also be an idea to backup your Downloads folder before going on a deleting spree, in case you make a mistake.

Works kind of alongside Bodyshop - run Bodyshop and look through your CC to generate thumbnails. Afterward, the program can use the "Cigen.package" file to show the thumbnails (don't delete the file - it doesn't have issues with game loading or similar like the other cache files).

If there's just one file, and the item is categorized as both child male and female, and you delete the file, it disappears from both categories. If you want to keep it for just one gender, it's better to recatgorize. Same for different ages/genders/clothing categories.

Wow. Thank you soooo much for your prompt response and invaluable information!! I'm not deleting any whole sims though, I'm too much of a chicken to attempt that! Thanks again!
