Default Sims 3 updated after ages of no updates!
Sorry if there's a thread already talking about this. (which is very likely) The threads here are filled with the common threads and i am not gonna sacrifice my patience and hands to search through a whopping 100+ pages so if there's a thread that talks about this already Tell me and i will take down this one

Anyway, the most unexpected things that's happen this year 2025, is a very minor update of the Sims 3, and mind you that EA has never cared about Sims 3 because they're deep invested in Sims 4-land. While this update is not present in the official Sims 3 site i think, even the most minor update in Sims 3 has lead people talking about it, and EVEN believing that Sims 3 will be remastered which is unlikely, and if they do, they will ruin the game with greediness, a gazillion of DLCs, cartoonish Sims (Sims 3 sims were intended to be realistic), bugs, and besides... they will probably remove the iconic memorable features and the remaster will not have the chaotic and awesome feel the Sims 3 had

Speaking about a Sims 3 remaster, because MySims was remastered for the Nintendo in Late 2024, this increases the likelihood of a Sims 3 remaster, or any older Sims Games.

What do you think? Do you also believe Sims 3 will be remastered (or any other sims game)?

Personally I believe we'll get a remastered 3 when we get an agreement with EA for GOG to release a remastered 1.

Which is to say never.

I mean, EA admitted they scrapped 5 in favor of cranking out more DLC for 4 and will make future games based on 4 so they can share the same marketplace. They might once in a while release some tiny update like this to keep 3 from falling into abandonedware but EA won't do anything major because it might cut into that sweet, sweet DLC profit.

And from a business viewpoint, I get it. EA has to do whatever will make the most profit and their model with 4 seems to be working for them (I mean, they were able to hack the Pets equivalent up into two stuff pack equivalents and Supernatural sans fairies into three). I don't see them pulling the resources away from their cash cow.

Only reason EA might consider an update is if Windows dropped their 32 bit systems the way MAC did, and even then, it would be open to similar EA App garbage, and remaking everything into DLC. And then, no mods or CC would work (probably), and most modders either won't bother, are aren't around to update things.

Shiny, happy people make me puke!

So there was a Sims 5 but it was scrapped?! Holy fuck. And they say the excuse "we don't want to make sims players lose their gameplay progress" but by that logic they made Sims 1 players, Sims 2 players, Sims 3 players lose their gameplay progress because there's a new Sims Game. Reminding you that you can have two or more sims games, like i have Sims 3 and Sims 2 (but i play 2 more often)

Why do they want to give Sims 4 a gazillion of DLCs though? Is it to achieve the game with the most DLCs?

I'm pretty sure if it occurs then the remaster will be a cashgrab as i said earlier.

From the way I see it:

The Sims 5 like The Sims 4 doesn't exist in the sense of a real The Sims game.

I mean TS4 was never meant to be anything like TS/TS2/TS3 and it was modeled similar to The Sims Online with the intention of micro and macrotransactions. The game was called TS4 to save face because they knew it would flop otherwise and they could trick the gullible into believing TS4 was always in the making which it never was. The same exact thing about TS5, they are just going to call it differently so there's no backlash this time around for being something it is not...a life simulation. Remember The Sims Olympus was not a life simulator, it was an multiplayer, online game where you could invite your friends to your game and vice versa. Then things changed, the game code was added on to and that's why there were no toddlers, teens looked like adults and so on.

The CEO of EA literally said ALL GAMES will be moving forward with live service. They planned to do that with "The Sims 4" but chickened out so now they are doing it with "The Sims 5/Project Rene" The Sims 5 exists still just not under that name for false advertisement of the real foundation of what makes The Sims The Sims.

Why go the massive DLC route? To make money.

Last I checked to get all of the expansions, it is roughly $600. Add another $240 to get the game packs. Then there's another $200 for the stuff packs. Not counting the little kits, that's $1440 (USD) to get the full experience. For reference to get all the expansions and stuff packs for 3 was around $450 (if bought at full retail price).

To be fair, that's always been their model. Players get bored or see something they want so they buy a new expansion or stuff pack. I'm tempted to buy Showtime just to be able to put skee ball in my seasonal lots. But 4 seems to be going over the top with it.

The Sims (2000) started with only Expansion Packs.

The Sims 2 (2004) continued with Expansion Packs while adding Stuff Packs. Introduced a Sim content online Store

The Sims 3 (2009) continued with Expansion Packs and Stuff Packs. Expanded and advanced online Sim Store

"The Sims 4" (2014) continued with Expansions Packs, Stuff Packs, added Game Packs and Kits

"The Sims 4" and any and all future Sim spin-offs including Project Rene.

Just checked Steam and while they have made the Sims 4 base game free, there are 90 dlc's with a total price of $1369. The Sims 3 has 19 dlc's, and if you bought everything at full price when it came out the total was about $650, on steam all the dlc's have been set at 19.99 so total now is $379. 71 more dlc's and they still have so much missing from the game, and still no "personality" from game plays I have seen.

Well Sims 4 is horribly coded because it was intended to be an Online game (sims olympus).

And yeah i've never understood why the many DLCs, just make a game store for clothes and objects like Sims 2 and 3 did. Some expansion packs/gamepacks (idk the different between an EP and a GP) could be fused to make one singular EP. And kits, why do they exist? Make a TS4 store and allow players to buy hairstyles/clothes/objects/etc (with digital currency or free). The same thing TS1, TS2 and TS3 did.
