I installed The Sims on this computer when I built it 4 years ago. I had a notion that it would be neat to have all four versions of the game working on the machine, which I managed, but didn't really play with it after that. I didn't have the CC I'd collected while first playing the game and it didn't seem worth it at the time to try to reassemble it from defunct websites.

Last week I happened across a CD labeled "Sims Downloads Sep 12 2004". Unfortunately it is not a back up of my old game, but has a lot of files on it. I have been exploring this gem, reinstalling CC, and playing the game.

One of the files I found on the disk was labeled "Snickers_Sims_Rustic_Hood-SS-MM_Version.exe" I have no recollection of this item. There is no text file in the zip, just the executable. I am intrigued, but reluctant to just say "Oh, what the heck!" and click the file to see what it does. Does anybody remember this?

Download and install 7-Zip: https://7-zip.org/

Then you can open and extract from any archive format, including EXEs.

Restart your computer.

Right click the installer for the mod, and choose "Show more options" (if on Windows 11) > 7-Zip > "Open archive". Now you see all the files that are inside the installer/archive.

Grab the files you need, and drag them to the Desktop to extract them from the archive/installer without having to install anything. You may also find text files or images in the archive/installer that explain what it is.

The contents of the archive are a series of files labeled "NScreen_unleashed.bmp" which seem to be the loading screen with no buildings and wooden bridges. I'm thinking this is for people who wanted a historic look to their game.
