Default Basic Building Qs: How to do Floorplans?
Okay, so I’ve always wanted to learn how to build houses in the Sims 3 properly, but I've never had any luck.

And you know, having that house be nothing but a box on outside has bothered me, but it has never bothered me to the extent that having shitty floorplans has. I like to look at house plans from that one houseplans site, because the floorplans are gorgeous and creative, but everytime I try to recreate them in the Sims 3 everything gets screwed up in the process, no matter how careful I go about measuring everything with in-game items.

I'm sure there's a reason why I'm this bad at floorplaning; can anyone help me out or give tips?

Oh c'mon. There better be a point to all this stress I'm under.
