Default How do you post a picture on this forum?
EDIT: I think i have the hang of this now, but if anyone has any tips, it would be appreciated! Thanks!

I feel so absolutely stupid for asking this, but I have looked all over the different threads in Sims Pictures, and Stories, and Help, and the Wiki. . .

When I click the "Insert Image" icon above the text box for making a new post, a box opens up that says "Enter the text to be formatted"
"[IMG]xxx[IMG]"

And then there's a box below that to enter text, I guess.

I don't know what to put in the box to post my image.

On other forums I use, clicking the "insert image" icon usually brings up your "Pictures" file, which then you can then search to find the image you wish to upload.

I can't believe I have been using these forums for 7 years or so and this never came up before. But I have written a Sims story and I want to post it! But when I went to start, I got stuck right away, lol

You insert the url inside between the [img]blahblah[/img] code of the image you uploaded from any kind of gallery storage site you did. Try it out by replacing xxx in that code with this url: http://www.modyourpanties.com/hosti...a7_a732f250.jpg

You can use the dedicated gallery site modyourpanties.com for the sims game screenshot to upload your very own creation.

Okay, pardon me for being really stupid about this stuff--are you saying I have to upload my own pictures to a website before I can post them on this site? I can't just pull them from my files?

Not that I know off, no. Although still been here for a while, using this forum is still a baby step for me :/

On second though, it probably is possible. Click "Go advance" button below the comment box, scroll to the very bottom and you should notice two different uploading/attaching features: one for zip files, other for pictures.

Thank you for the tips--i tried uploading a few pictures to the panties site and it worked--but the problem is that i see no thumbnails of the images once they are over there--so it's hard to search for the one you want to use. I'll have to play with it a bit--thanks!

For 1-4 pic's direct uploading is fine but if you do large amount for storytelling then use http://www.modyourpanties.com/ its part of MTS and is the best one to use.

Try renaming your photos in some way that will enable you to arrange them in the correct way without seeing the thumbnails. For instance, Ch1_Pic1 etc.

You'll probably want a bigger picture than that. I see you're using the snapshot function in the game, at least for testing. If you set those at Large/High Quality your audience will be able to see them better. Have fun posting your story, and I hope you get lots of readers.

Gosh--thanks so much--it is so obvious to rename first--now that you've pointed it out! lol

Okay, I think I've got this. . .

Is this image sufficiently high quality and size? I don't know how to change it if not--it's just a straight screenshot from the game. Obviously I don't mess with pictures much!

You can tell what's happening, anyway, and that may be all you need for the story. It's smaller than the snapshots I get, but that may be due to a peculiarity of the posting method or hosting site. (See recent posts in the "Caption the Picture Above You" thread to see how my game snapshots post from Flickr. I only use screenshot programs for uploads and cut scenes, and mine post much larger than that one. But when I used to use photobucket, my pictures would only post in small size.) If you have the game camera set to high resolution, large size there's nothing more to be done with snapshots unless you're willing to muck around in an editing program. You change snapshot settings under the Camera Options tab in the ... portion of the UI.

Other than that - the more pictures you take, the more likely you are to get good ones.

I'll bet it's my game camera! I'll go adjust those settings and I bet it will work great! Thanks so much for the help!

I think I have the hang of this now, but would still appreciate any tips or shortcuts--it's kind of a laborious process, but maybe it will get easier as I practice more. Thanks again for the help!

That is better, the largest size. If you want really nice large pictures you need screenshots not game shots. You can take those with either the print screen button or a screenshot program. I use FRAPS free which takes large BMP pictures, I then put them through FastStone which changes them to JPGS. It may also do PNG but I am not sure, for the calendar contest, I changed it to a PNG in Gimp. All these programs are free.

XSplit Gamecaster is another great software to use for capturing both video and screenshots at high quality. It is free for download but of course there are limitations, like you're unable to change the BRB screen whenever you pause Gamecaster's recording or click out of the game's window (if you're playing on windowed mode).

I normally don't use any image uploading websites to post my screenshots here. I simply upload them directly from my computer, and that option is down where it says "Attach Files". You can see which file extensions are valid for even zipped folders.

I tried that a few comments above but it didn't turn out so well--that wasn't the highest-quality picture, but the other problem was the word "screenshot" above it. How can you get rid of that?

I don't think you do get rid of the 'screenshot'. It's an automatic label when you attach. The other option would be using [img] tags like you did above but the limitation to that is you need a place to upload the pics for linking and then per forum rules only 4 per post in pic and general chat threads. any more would need hidden under a spoiler type tag.

Uh oh! My social bar is low - that's why I posted today.

The "Direct link" doesn't seem to be working when wrapped in tags. Try the "BBcode" version for the full size picture instead. You can remove the URL part to make the image not link back to the site (but doesn't hurt to keep it).

The proper code for your picture looks like this with the URL removed:
[img ]https ://i.ibb. co/DrdVxvv/2024-04-10-10-48-12-641.jpg[/img ]
(without spaces, that is)

Thank you lol

Its an improvement still weird how it shows the link

Just post the link from the "BBcode" as-is, and it should be fine. You don't need to wrap that one in extra IMG tags, since it already has those applied.

You only need the part from the second [IMG ] to [/IMG ] in the link, not the URL that looks like the one you posted first.

[IMG ]=http s://ibb.co/GHmxK88][/B][img ]http s://i.ibb.co/DrdVxvv/2024-04-10-10-48-12-641.jpg[/IMG ]

(The bolded part, again minus spaces - they're just there to avoid the link becoming a picture. The URL link for a picture usually ends with a picture format, like .JPG or .PNG)[/QUOTE]
