Which Maxis textures are slaved to where?
i'd also like to learn if there's a way to check this in SimPE or on a database to figure out which object grabs its texture from where.

Yep, mlc is correct. I use that all the time to see what's what. Spoiler, the sofa has the textures. 
I also have a list of cep extras that may alter or add to the cep.
