This user has the following games installed:

Sims 3
Default How to export a Sim from a household to CAS?
I'm a bit confused...

I have built a new household but i forgot to save the single sim(s) in the bin (export to SavedSims).

How do i export one sim of the household as a "blueprint" to CAS?
I tried to split the household and all, but all i can do is to move him/her to a new place.

Any idea?

I need this answer also, I saved mine but the file may have become corrupted. So here's an obligatory bump in the hopes of finding out. ;D

I don't think you can do this. I have two sims that I did not save in CAS and they are now in the game. I will have to make them again if I want to save them for upload to MTS.

I have not tried this but it says if you open up the ctrl - shift - c and then type in "edit in cas" (without the quotes) you will be able to edit them in cas.

Audrey, you should still be able to upload your sims to MTS, however, as a household, or household w/lot, not as an individual sim.

Kolipoki, I haven't heard of that cheat, though there was something in one of the debug code enable hacks about edit sim, Shiny Awesome Mod but unsure of how it works. I attempted to use that hack and nothing worked and decided I may just wait till there's less bugs going on with v.1 of everything and all. It may have been malfunctioning because I have the Delphy & Rick slider hack as well as Rick's Debug Console Command Enabler which didn't work for me either. They're sort of a direct conflict of each other. And "SaveSimAsLooseFile" did not work for me.

So, I'll have to do a lot of back and forthing to try to figure out which to use. However it still won't remedy my problem, (See Thread) where sims I download, or have already saved as a sim file are still not showing up in my game.

I have been looking for this question too. And found and answer.. finally!

Go to a mirror, change your look. Now you will see a CAS screen where you can only change the hair and make up. Right click on the sim down the page, select Add to Bin.

Now your sims look are in the bin, and you can edit it, change it or upload it as a sim.
