Default Maxis Match CC Megapost (open for business!)
I have seen several people asking for Maxis-Match CC in different places and I decided that I should make a list of what I've found, since there's SO much of it, and I can never remember where it came from! There are a few lists like this out there but they are fairly out of date. I will attempt to link to stable archive locations for dead sites.

What does "Maxis-Match" mean?

Custom items that aesthetically match Maxis objects so well that, ideally, they blend seamlessly with them and you can't tell they came from elsewhere. This often means objects that were in fact made with Maxis assets, but not always.

For the purposes of this list, it means:
* "Completer" items (e.g. Maxis made a matching sofa and chair, but no loveseat. A creator provided a matching loveseat, thus completing the set.)
* "Expander" items (e.g. Maxis made one dining chair of a certain style. A creator made a table, or an entire kitchen set, to match that style.)
* Unbuyable items extracted from the game and made buyable (e.g. tombstones or awards)
* TS1 conversions of Maxis items from other Sims games
* Maxis items given greatly expanded or enhanced functionality or Q.O.L. upgrades, such that they feel almost like new items or can be used in new ways

It does NOT mean:
* the Maxis toilet tinted blue

I cannot include individual simple recolors of Maxis items, as these are extremely numerous and we'd be here forever. I MAY note when sites which meet other criteria ALSO host many recolors of good quality.

This list is for build and buy mode objects only, NOT skins.

What does JP mean?

This means the site is in Japanese. You may wish to use a translator, but many of these sites also use a fair amount of English, so it is usually not too hard for an English-speaker to navigate them. Most of them also share the strange idiosyncrasy that is it impossible to link to specific pages, so I can only provide links to the main page.

Why does this object cost a jillion/zero simoleons? Why is it in the wrong category? Why does it have a comfort score of 11 billion/negative 3?

Creators can be... whimsical in their pricing and categorizing of objects. This may frustrate people who are trying to keep a vanilla-like experience in their game, where things cost what Maxis might charge for them based on their stats. If you want to alter the price or category of an object, learn how to use the utility programs Transmogrifier and/or SimCategorizer. They are quite useful and not very complicated!

If you want to change the STATS of an object... well, that requires hacking. And I can't help you with it. But there are many fine tutorials out there! Try SomeSimThings or The Secret Society of Woobsha.

AND NOW ON TO THE LINKS

Where possible, I have linked directly to the page with IMAGES of the downloads. If you don't see them, try scrolling! In some cases images are not available online so I have linked directly to the download, if that is possible. If not, I will try to describe the download location.

Sites which specialize in Maxis-Match:

These sites are largely or entirely for Maxis-Match items, too many to list individually. These should be your first stop when looking broadly for MM items.

ClassicSims: Lots of expander furniture, some build, some TSO conversions, one TS4 conversion
Garden of Nagatsuki (JP): Small but useful collection of expander kitchen sets and recolors
Madoria's World: Many expander/completer buy and build mode sets, some TS2 conversions
Mirrored Sims: Many expander/completer items and recolors
Sasarin's SimPeople (JP): Many expander furniture sets, buy recolors, and build recolors; if the links don't work, download here
SimSpot: Lots of expander/completer items (N.B. some of these items have broken sprites at far zoom, or other issues which may impact usability for some people)

Conversion items:

Notable collections of items converted to TS1 from other Sims games. Some of these (especially The Sims Online objects) have been converted by many different people; I cannot list all of them. Remember that the further away one gets from the first game, the less closely items will match TS1 style. TSO items are the best match.

"Alan from CTO Sims": TS2 Seasons flower planters, trellises, and garden bench (N.B. set has several GUID conflicts for me. Also I'm using the creator name given on Mirrored Sims; if anyone has a better one I'll change it)
BagOfTricks: TSO clocks, rugs, chaises longues, wedding deco, etc. In "TSO Treasures" folder
Boudoir Blanc and Simbeule's Curiosities: "Animal Kids" set from TS3 with bookcases, seating, and matching bedroom
The Complete Sim: TS2 walls and floors
Drac's Originals: TS2 curtains and rosebushes
Ferndale Sims: Many Buy Mode objects from TS3 and TS4
Grumpy Sims Stuff: TSO outdoor plants, snowman, teddy
Lead Pipe Collection: TS2 evil and good witch chairs AND: TS2 Bon Voyage hammock (working bed!)
Lilac Sims: TSO Moroccan set and recolors, chaises longues and recolors, plants and recolors
Mermaid Cove: TSO wardrobe trunks
OddSim: Many TSO objects in many categories, some with unusual functions, including the working typewriter
Olena's Clutter Factory: TS3 boombox, TS4 home ice cream maker (functional) AND: TS3 Store "Hipster Loft" set AND: TS3 store "Island Paradise Spa" set AND: TS2 witch's cauldron as wand charger AND: TS2 and TS3 car and garage stuff AND: TS3 apartment items AND: TS2 Ikea stuff pack lamps... and probably more, idk... lol
Piggi Sims: TS2 (and expansions) paintings, tapestries, rugs, and carpets-as-rugs (note: art is often sized differently than in TS2, or broken into multiple parts)
Savage Sims: Many TS2 items in various categories: trees, statues, Moroccan theme items, aspiration reward items, living room sets, seating, piano, and more. Also has some TSO items (Moroccan set, wardrobe trunks, etc.) N.B. some of these items are a bit washed-out in color
Secret Society of Woobsha: TSO elevators, robot factory, loft beds, etc.
SimmerAl: Right here at MTS, a collection of ALL TS2 end tables... in ALL colors! ALSO: TS2 bookshelves (heavily hacked) ALSO TOO: TS2 easel with all TS2 easel paintings
SomeSimThings: Curtains, Xmas and Halloween items, and a potted plant, all from TS2 (in Decorative 1, 2, and 3. Some graphics are a bit "crunchy" or low-res) PLUS: TS2 rosebushes
Who's Yo Simmy: Many, many TSO objects

Maxis objects with altered functionality:

Maxis objects which have been hacked to change their functions in a way that expands gameplay options. This does NOT mean any random hacked Maxis objects, such as uncloggable toilets or faster skilling items (again, there are simply too many); it means SUBSTANTIAL REWORKING of a Maxis item or category of item. The final arbiter of this distinction is ME!

Aaron of Minneapolis: Place-anywhere standless Maxis moderate TV, usable on just about any surface or the floor. With different furniture and some ingenuity you can create many different styles of TV room, security monitoring station, or media center.
Aponee Sims: "Hygiene Pool" converts Maxis swimming pool into bath
Gnohmon's Goodies: Altered pool items: 2-storey diving board, "smart" diving board (no autonomously swimming to death), and ladder which can exit pool through walls for unusual architectural situations PLUS: "casual woohoo"-style heart bed (no relationship requirement, produces no crush/love/jealousy)
Lead Pipe Collection: Modular Planters: Maxis planters separated from their original plants and hacked to accept any plant, tree, or bush. Using these can eliminate the need to have many Maxis-Match potted plants as you can simply construct your own! Many different Maxis planters of various "depths," check the whole page.
Laphelot Sim Solutions: Maxis flowers, bushes, and trees hacked to be placeable almost anywhere (water, slopes, under/on other plants). Finally landscape without restrictions. Each EP has its own mod and they are NOT placed in the Downloads folder; read the ReadMe. ALSO: Maxis paintings made invisible from the back so they do not block your view. Again, each EP has its own mod and they are NOT placed in Downloads. Read the ReadMe!!!
Mermaid Cove: Crimson Collection set with end table fixed so you can actually use the damn bed next to it
Secret Society of Woobsha: Maxis stairs hacked so two sims can use them at once and sims/items can go under them. (Original hack by Gnohmon) ALSO: default replacement awnings and Makin' Magic charms allowing for overlapping placement (be advised that the awnings have a very dark shadow) AND: Maxis items (mirror, boombox, etc.) hacked for alternative skilling PLUS: Maxis wildflowers as no-water rug-based object ADDITIONALLY: bay windows hacked to allow placing furniture directly next to them AND MORE: House Party dance floor modified for casual/home settings (no lights, rug/floor appearance)
SimLogical: Many different Maxis items hacked in ways that enable apartment-style or institutional living (school, prison), including assignable beds, lockable doors, and more.
The Simposium: Maxis beds converted to lovebeds. Your sims may now do the nasty in a regular old non-heart bed. These are separate objects that do not replace the Maxis beds so you may use either or both as you desire.
SimWardrobe: At-home versions of Vacation recreation items, sleeping tent, dartboard

Can I made a suggestion of something that isn't on the list?

Yes! All I ask is that you ask yourself the following questions:
* Is this thing simply a recolor?
* If the thing is a hacked Maxis object: does this alteration enable the object to be used in a new way?

If the answers are "no" and "yes," then go ahead and post a link.

Something on this list looks terrible, why is it even here?

De gustibus non est disputandum; that's Latin for "everyone but me has crappy taste." I will attempt to list downloads of good to excellent quality, but I also know that even "flawed" items can have their uses for many people. If I am aware of potential oddities with graphics or usability that may be an issue for some players, I will note them. But ultimately you must judge for yourself and allow others to do the same!

Please do let me know if an item is broken (as in: it does not perform its intended function), or if a link is broken!
