This user has the following games installed:

Sims 2, University, Nightlife, Open for Business, Pets, Seasons, Bon Voyage, Free Time, Apartment Life
Default a lot of objects emit smoke.
Good morning, sorry but English is not my native language. I have a very particular problem: some CCs are emitting smoke. They are from different creators, but they are all "bb niches slave." I tried them in a vanilla game as well, but they keep emitting smoke. The latest set causing this issue is a 3t2 conversion by Talja, but I really can't remember from which site I downloaded it. I searched the entire forum and on Google without success. Is there a way to stop them from emitting smoke? I'm not very technical with SimPE or other programs, but I have a lot of items I'm interested in that have this problem, and if this is the only way to fix it, I’ll learn. Sorry for the trouble, and thank you.

Could we see an image of this please? Are they omitting smoke like the fireplaces do, or some other effect?

Might be time to do a 50/50:

So it looks like the problem is just with the slaved objects. I think you really need to find out who made these items as it looks like they started by cloning a fireplace, but forgot to remove the effects (Buggy's objects are cloned from a decorative item). To fix this you'd have to remake the items, by beginning with a suitable item to clone, and then slaving them to Buggy's textures. If you can find the creator, perhaps they would fix them.

the thing that weirds me out is that it's not just this set that gives me this problem, but I can't find any discussion on the entire internet that talks about objects emitting smoke when they shouldn't. I will also carefully search my downloads for the other set to see if they are from the same creator. according to the file the creator is talja but I can't find this set on simpearls where his other items are posted. thanks for the explanation on the object, I found a tutorial for SimPE that explains how to put an effect on an object, but not how to remove it, is there such a tutorial? or do I necessarily have to recreate the object from scratch? in the second case I see it as very difficult, but maybe it's just me who doesn't know the matter well enough. thanks again for everything.

Oh, can you give me an idea of what other sets it happens with? Are they all slaved to Buggyboo's niches? All by the same creator?

You could try undoing the things that the tutorial suggests to do to add the effect, or you could remake the objects. I have no idea what they are or what they do from your picture; if they are just decorative items then it should be easier, but if they have slots or other function, a little more difficult. You'd have to start with basic object creation tutorials and work from that.
