Default Property Set Batch Processing
A while ago, another creator named Chris_Hatch discovered that it was possible to organize clothing and accessory items in game and in bodyshop by linking them to an imaginary EP. Also granting them a custom icon. I used this to create a kit that would allow people to organize clothing by bodyshape such as fashion model or classic pinup but the possible applications are far greater than just that. Categories could be implemented aswell such as stone age, gothic, medieval, or steampunk.

The biggest problem is that the property set changes required would need to be made in every clothing file to be organized, which in some cases could take a ridiculously long time to do manually.

So a while back I asked, CatofEvilGenius if they would be able to create such a program. Cat agreed to try but later became to busy and unsure of when it could be done. I later sent Cat a message stating I wanted to post here requesting such an app but never got a response. I waited but am assuming Cat is still busy with real life so I'm dropping the request here and crossing my fingers.

Essentially what it would need to do is recognize clothing and accessory files and *add* or allow changes to the Product and Creator fields. (*some older items don't have a product field*)

I'm sure batch processing other changes would be useful aswell though.

Thanks for any consideration. I put in a good bit of work planning and creating the kit and would just like to see it made easier for people to implement.

I'll have to spend some time looking into this before I can make any decision.

Thanks for considering it in any case.

If you've done a lot of thinking about this, you might be able to provide me with a mockup of the UI. Just a general idea of what you want the screen(s) to look like.

How's this?

I figure something basic should do the trick.

Edit: The fields listed are sort of hypothetical. I only need Product and Creator myself, but other people may have uses for others.

Also just remembered that some items, usually accessories, have multiple property sets (gzps for clothes or xmol for accessories) in one package file. Not sure if that would be an issue, but thought it worth mentioning.

What should happen in that situation? Should all of the property sets be changed?

(You should understand that I have never used multiple body shapes, so this is all new to me.)

I would say yes.

To my knowledge this only happens in accessories with multiple sexes/ages or clothing packages with more than one article of clothing inside. I've only actually seen one creator put multiple pieces of clothing in one file and he created them per bodyshape so they would all be the same shape in each package anyway.

A lot of people don't use bodyshapes. Many of which have avoided it due to either lack of clothing variety or the sheer complexity and inconvenience. Most shapes have more clothing than people think and the second problem is what I set out to fix in the first place.

Just thought I'd check in to see if you'd had any time to tinker with this.

Thanks.

A related request: Townify every CC (hair and clothing) in a folder.

Just further tinkering with possible layout mockup to reflect the new request.

http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b...g83/Mockup2.gif

I assume previews of in game thumbnails are possible since the sims 2 categorizer program used them for objects.

EDIT: Of course I also assume they would need to be generated in game by playing first, then loaded from the thumbnails folder.

The two empty buttons could be "Hide" or "Un-hide" but that's just an idea. It's not really hard to just hide them by setting the flags that way.

Wish I could do more. I'm really looking forward to the day I can get all these files organized without going insane doing one at a time. I tried but after a while I just couldn't do it anymore.

Any progress on this from either CatOfEvilGenius or Mootilda? I just got my main development machine back from repair, so I could take a stab at it.

So far, we've requests for BSOP flags and towniefying, and I've had another request to change the sortindex.

I'm the one who requested a tool to change the sortindex. I want it to put my bodyshape outfits in order in the catalogue, but it could be useful for all sorts of things like arranging hair according to style or length, for example.

I know you did, but I just discovered this group and didn't know if you were a member...

Maybe I can get started on either the interface or the file processing part (or start in the middle and work both ways...)

miros1, this is just a convenient place to discuss this tool. I haven't taken ownership of this and I don't believe that CatOfEvilGenius has either.

Please feel free to work on it. It seems like a very useful tool which is well-understood enough to be a great first project at MTS.
