Default Features you wish existed in The Sims 2?
There is a high chance such a thread exists, but i definitely do not want to waste time searching all pages of the community forum. If you saw a thread exactly like this, don't be afraid to reach out to me so i can delete this thread

Sims 2 has many cool features like physics, small details, etc. But what is one (or more) features you wish existed in The Sims 2? Bug Fixes, new hairstyles, new clothes new wallpaper/flooring, and new furnitures (unless said furniture doesn't exist), etc do NOT count. Features for the above (excluding bug fixes) do count (eg: ability to change a clothing's style/color, ability to make a hair by yourself by choosing the bangs, half up, etc). If the feature you wished was added was already said by someone else, don't worry! This is all about you anyway
For me:
- Infants (Like in The Sims 4. Life Stage between Baby and Toddler. Infants are older than babies but younger than toddlers)
- Shoplifting (This feature actually existed but was scrapped. It's perfect for your criminal sims)
- Lights out/Water out (Another scrapped feature)
- Copying homework (Like in The Sims 3)
- Preteens/Tweens (Life stage between Child and Teen, also middle school included)
- Go Steady for Adults (a mod for this exists, but i wish it was already made)
- Washing clothes (I don't want it to be cosmetic, i want it to be useful)
- Hospital birth (A feature that was scrapped.)
- Body Surgery
- Ability to change eye color (either with the dr vu surgery or contacts. Note when you change your Sim's eye color, it's not genetic.)
- Ability to choose voices in CAS
- Ability to easily split Sims in a household
- Bed Ownership
- Bikes
- Picnics
- Snowboarding
- Ability for Elder Sims to die in their sleep
- Weddings in Community lots
- Alternate Outfits
- Watch Play-In (If you didn't know, sims could watch dirty content (but of course no genitals to keep the T rating) which is called "Play-In" in the sims 2 Beta builds, and you had to pay 20ยง for it. But this feature was scrapped probably because it was too much for a game for Teens. This would be cool for funny skits or story telling)

CBF detected, loser! Click between Frames is illegitimate and will not be allowed for use in The Sims 2. Please disable the mod in order to continue playing.

You can have weddings in community lots.
With the help of a mod by TwoJeffs, you can have assigned beds.
There is a mod at PBK to make washing a thing.
Chris Hatch made a mod that allows hospital stays, which include birth.

CAS:
)Ability to choose shoes and other accessories (such as hats and gloves) independently of the outfit/hairstyle
-> Accompanying this, a complete seperation of jewellery and outfits (so no clothes coming with buil in jewellery) and a general expansion of the jewellery outfit.
) Tattoos
) Assigning multiple outfits per category which the Sim then cycles through whenever changing clothes.
) Sort outfits by mesh and swatches
) Assigning individual last names to the members of a Sim household created in CAS.

QoL:
)Built-in ability to easily edit and delete townies and other NPC Sims.

Features:
)Sims personalities changing throughout their life
)A revamp of the personality system that combines the personality points with the traits/preferences from later games
)Actual consequences for things such as a Sim being neglected as a toddler (not being taught the toddler skills) and growing up badly (possibly related to how the personality changes between lifestates)
)A private school that actually costs money (and the ability to assign the colours of its uniform)
)More unique interactions and features for teenagers and elders (for example, teaching teen Sims to drive)
)Bicycles and Motorcycles.
)Those psychic/prank phone calls from Sims 1
) "Middle Aged" lifestate between Adult and Elder
) Possibly an ability to choose the sexual/romantic orientation of a Sim once they reach the teen lifestage
)More realistic reactions to the actions of other things (for example, if Don leaves Cassandra at the alter Mortimer shouldn't be up for playing chess with him the day after)
) In the past I've often derided the idea but...the ability to run a (small scale) farm. More crops, chickens, things like that.
)Ability to ad genetic hair colours, just like we can ad eye colours

Supernatural Things
) Better Magic/Witches like in the other games with more spells and a magic sub-hood.
)Better Vampires and Werewolves like in Sims 3 and 4
)Fairies
)A unique, genetic hair colour for aliens (something like pink, purple, or dark green)
)Some of the more off-the-wall objects from the other games such as Bonehilda, spooky paintings, and the chemistry table
)Some interactions with ghosts (not as far as Sims 3 went, but things like seances, calming of angry spirits, things like that)
)Really, a whole magic/supernatural themed expansion.

Lazy Duchess made a mod for that. Here it is. I have played only TS1 basegame so this was a new experience for me. I think that it is a great mod.

- schools, able to go with sims to school (and a better system than in TS4 - I absolutely loathe the mini tasks that just pass time and nothing else. I'd want skilling, various events like sports day or science day, different classes like art and such, etc.) - but of course being able to not go with them (since it can get tedious after a while).
- More to do for little and young ones, from the newborn stage all the way to teen. More toys both indoors and outdoors, more baby/infant skills, more additional hobby activities for all ages (sewing/cross-stitching, baking together, singing, knitting...)
- Bikes for toddlers and up (triwheel...)
- Strollers and baby carriers, adults/teens holding a toddler/child's hand while walking around (would look so cute!), car seats to take little ones for rides - basically anything that makes travelling with little ones possible (the more the merrier)
- Horses, riding, other interactive animals. Farm animals would've been nice (but with more options similar to cats/dogs/horses than the farm animals in TS4).
- More default skin, hair and eye colors (more binned hair colors in general, not just the 4 "natural" ones)
- Supernaturals for all ages (plantsim babies and little vampire toddlers XD )
- A lot more crops, and special recipes that actually use them and become unlocked if you've got the ingredients. Would make it a lot more fun to farm. Right now it's mostly the juicer and a couple or so fish recipes that use anything other than "any" fruit/veggie, I think.
- Layered clothes (two layers for tops - for instance shirt + jacket), layerable socks/tights, scars/tattoos or similar.
- Accessories that are layerable with each other, can be put together separately with any outfit category, and can morph with the body mesh.
- Jewelry that's freely available in a mirror/outside of CAS without having to buy it.
- More winter activities like skiing, snowboarding, sledding... And also sleds toddlers can ride/be dragged around on.

For anything small with wheels + horses - the ability to travel to other lots, but also the ability to roam around controlled on the lot.

- Infants (Like in The Sims 4. Life Stage between Baby and Toddler. Infants are older than babies but younger than toddlers)
That would be nice. Some things that I do to help with this:
>Extended the toddler stage from 4 to 8 days
> Use a sippy cup 'bottle' after 2 days
>Use a mod that allows toddlers to use stairs once they can walk
>Use a booster seat with toddler meals
> Roll each night on ageing to see if they have learnt to sleep through. Those that do move to a toddler bed that lets them sleep all night.
> Have a range of toys such as a toddler slide, sandpit, swing and doll houses

- Shoplifting (This feature actually existed but was scrapped. It's perfect for your criminal sims)
I have playable criminals and I do make them shoplift. Now they can't say from a stand or food freezer but I have many playable shops with items for sale. All you need is the Build& Buy inventory mod. (updated file in the comments #48) https://modthesims.info/d/132485/do...de-enabler.html I roll to see if they are caught.
There is also the pickpocket trait that lets them, well pick pockets like the unsavory charlatan.

- Lights out/Water out (Another scrapped feature)
There is a beta mod in creator feedback on power outages. https://modthesims.info/showthread.php?p=5240798
There is a mod 'water required' by Sun&moon. With an add on that makes it so sims must get buckets of water to be able to bath, shower, wash dishes. More so for historical play.

- Copying homework (Like in The Sims 3)
There are a variety of homework mods but not one that allows for copying.

- Preteens/Tweens (Life stage between Child and Teen, also middle school included)
Again with the right mods and CC you can make children seem older or younger the same way I do for toddlers. Height mod, clothes, hair. There are playable schools so no reason why you couldn't have a middle school if you wanted. I only allow older children to cook (kids can cook mod) there is also a mod that lets kids go out alone.

- Go Steady for Adults (a mod for this exists, but i wish it was already made)
Everything you are wanting is a mod yes.

- Washing clothes (I don't want it to be cosmetic, i want it to be useful)
Sun&moon laundry that includes modern washer and dryers. https://www.tumblr.com/sunmoon-star...ds-o-laundry-20
Nice add on to that by Gummi

- Hospital birth (A feature that was scrapped.)
There are two ways to have a hospital birth, there is a hospital mod by Chris Hatch or I have made my own playable hospital. I use Christianlovs transport mirror to bring the sim, which does a temp move in. (hospital has to be a residential lot) and I have had a few babies at the hospital. You can stop and accelerate the pregnancy to have them go to labour and delivery.

- Body Surgery
I can't think of a way to mod that.

- Ability to change eye color (either with the dr vu surgery or contacts)
You can change eye colour in simPE. And there are coloured contacts around.

- Ability to choose voices in CAS
More voices too would be nice.

- Ability to easily split Sims in a household
You can move them out?

- Bed Ownership
I use a mod for that. I forget which one it is but its on the sims pie menu >Adjust>Bed ownership>Own this bed. If they are tired and I forget which bed or which side of a bed is theirs I can click on them again >Adjust>bed ownership>Dude, where is my bed? And they will run to the bed/side of the bed. Really good for very tired sims or those who are lazy as they will also run.

- Bikes
Only vehicle bikes exist. Would be nice.

- Picnics
I do have picnics. It would be nice if they sat on the rug to eat, I do have to bring folding type chairs but again inventory mod ^ allows this. You can bring food in inventory, a picnic basket https://larnalynn.tumblr.com/post/6...sims-nellshyshs

- Snowboarding
The half pipe is as close to that as we have.https://jellymeduza.tumblr.com/post...pe-i-thought-it

- Ability for Elder Sims to die in their sleep
Would be nice.

- Weddings in Community lots
We have had that mod for years. http://www.insimenator.org/index.ph...c,101151.0.html I often hold weddings and wedding parties on com lots.

- Alternate Outfits
Gussy up plan outfit?

I thought that one of the EPs allowed Community Lot Weddings?

Rebecah has some non vehicle bikes. https://simfileshare.net/folder/48648/

Smart Beds is great, especially now the problem with not being able to tell pets to sleep on a bed is fixed.

You can change eye colour in simPE. And there are coloured contacts around.

Well, i was talking about changing a Sim's eyes In-game, not with the help of SimPE. I wish this was featured in the DR Vu surgery, or the devs could have added contact lenses.

To be able to tell a sim where to put things. When using the Thinking Cap my sims will almost all the time put it on a kitchen counter, ignoring other empty tables, desks etc on the way

Separate tops and bottoms for outerwear like we have for everyday wear. If your Sim is wearing jeans and a polo shirt, they can keep the jeans but change the top to a jumper or jacket. Actually separates for gym clothes would also work, tracksuit bottoms with different tops

Apartment Life was a great pack, however there's a couple ways it could be even better.

For one being able to own an apartment would be neat, since lots of people own a condo or townhouse IRL. Ideally you'd be able to change walls inside your unit and fees would be based on common areas. The landlord could be hired or fired by each family to change the fee rate (in real life it'd be voted on by every owner but the apartment sublots mean we can just pretend everyone votes the same way as the active family).

Otherwise, that Landlord expansion pack from 4 actually has some good ideas. Being able to freely designate rooms as part of apartments or not is nice (3 also had this to some extent, though only with 1 playable apartment), and while I'm not sure if you can having a way to tie separate parts of the lot to a specific apartment would also be nice so you can have say a cluster of workshops or a parking spot outside the main unit (irl this is mostly storage units in a parkade). Also would be nice if you could designate a front yard as part of an apartment so sims walk through an owned area before reaching the front door, as happens with real life townhouses. It could also allow multiple entrances into and out of the unit without needing to resort to those low fence funniness. Also, could allow us to use those walk over fences freely without killing a portion of the apartment.

Being able to be a landlord would be cool. Open For Business slumlord edition. Two ideas for this, the home business landlord edition where you can make a basement suite or garden suite or whatever and rent them out, and the ability to purchase an apartment and dealing with it like the landlord NPC does, or doesn't if your sim is not ethical lol.

Obviously none of this can happen without some very heavy effort, probably requiring a full on rewrite of the game, but it would be fun.

The 1 other idea I'd like to steal from the Sims 4 is the more fluid gender options.

Also I wish it was possible to place things off grid and at weird angles by default, like in 3 and 4. I know with cheats you can place things off grid, but I'm not sure if there's a built in way to get more granular rotations than 45degrees.

And finally, the Sims 3 had a neat little thing where you could change your sims career outfit. Something like that would nice for some of the careers like business where an exact uniform is less important than being generally professional. Default to the normal outfits, but having the option to override it for a specific sim would be cool. Also on that note, a way to set what waiters or cashiers etc are wearing in non OFB businesses like restaurants or bars. Restaurants are the biggest offender here since it's hard to have one outfit work for both fine dining and a dive hole in the wall place. Bar tenders and cashiers are mostly fine with their aprons, though more flexibility without needing to wrangle a sim own business would be nice.

I wish it had a visible indoor grid in Buy and Build modes, just like in TS3. (Technically, it does, but once you tile the floors, it's gone).

Can also be done without LD's mod, but you need to set the separates as everyday + [other category/ies] to be able to buy them. You need to buy at least one top+bottom for the category you want to use, and from there you can use separates as normal, for any category.

With LD's mod you also need to recategorize the separates, but you don't need to also set them as everyday.

You can use SimPE, or the Outfit Organizer by Pick'n'Mix, probably a few other tools as well.

SmartBeds complicates a few things, like trying to run a happy polygamous household. Also it makes it more likely the bedclothes will stay humped even when the Sim is out of bed (this is associated with, but not always linked to, the Infamous Bed Bug).

As to gender options, with the assistance of SimPE and certain mods (SimBlender, SimManipulator, ACR, etc) you can simulate some but not all of the options offered in Sims4. You can (I have) set gender preferences (straight, gay, bi, and high or low), or do a complete gender reversal (MtF or FtM) including fertility or not (your option). There is also custom content (some, but not a lot) for pre-ops and cross-dressers. Eventually I suppose some clever modder will come up with a pronoun selection option, but that hasn't happened for Sims2 yet (and at last report Sims4 was still working out the kinks).

Being able to give them a range of outfits they cycle through at random each morning would just be more fun, I think. It'd give the Sims a little bit of additional personality because the way RNG in games work they might end up wearing let's say "Everyday Outfit#4" much more often than the others so the player could pretend it's their favourite and things like that :-)

I wish they added features from LazyDuchess' RCP - if they were able to "steal" Nopke's work for the Legacy Collection, why not go for LazyDuchess' as well? I would love to have options within game settings to use LazyDuchess' improved shadows and lot imposters, as well as choose the style of water.

Beside that, half state of fat morph. The game already utilises the half state of preg morph, it should work similarly for fat morph. I also wish there was a way to change Sims' gender without the need to leave the game and use SimPE.

It's definitely possible, I have several community lots with wedding arcs in my hoods and I'm sure sims can get married. They just can't have parties and the people who visit the lot will be the ones who see the wedding.

* Go Steady for adults
* Different outfits for categories, randomly chosen each day (like having three different Everday outfits, and you wear Everyday 1 and the next day, the sim randomly chooses between wearing Everyday 2 or Everyday 3 that day)
* Choosing times to start a party, not starting a party as soon as you hang up the phone
* Different bodyshapes of fat/fit (having someone fat, where the fat is mainly on the stomach and legs, another where it's all over, etc)

What I do is put the wedding arch on the lot, the usual seating, plus the wedding cake to make it look like a party-the cornerstone of all my weddings and parties is the 6pk of beer which really sparks up any setting.

The guests start partying way before the wedding ever starts..

About apartments: the one complaint I have is that you have to literally get out of the apartment lot to visit another neighbor's lot-including another apartment in the lot itself!
You can't just point with your mouse to get there. That's the one thing that would the best mod of all. I hate playing (and avoid it at all costs-including using any apartments) those kinds of lots.

Plus, if you have a neighborhood that is not in the 20th century with paved roads, you can't change the road in front of an apartment without it reverting every single time when you play that lot. That is highly irritating.
