Default Lighter or pale face
Hey there! I've come across a little issue with some of the hairstyles from Showtime. When I use any of those female hairstyles, the Sim's face takes on a lighter colour (pale, shiny, whiter, whatever term you prefer). I've tested them with EA skin and EA face (so no face overlay replacements). There's a very similar hairstyle in Showtime that doesn't do this. I've tried comparing them, but I'm not sure what's going on. I'd love to fix it myself by creating a fixed default replacement, but I'm a bit stuck. I've tried changing the normal map (bump map), the face diffuse and control, and the textures in the scalp... Any ideas would be much appreciated!

This appears to be from the use of an incorrect texture for the face and scalp specular, which only Deep Clone will grab. It's a little transparent white square, when it should be a black square.
An important note is that resources that have to be Deep Cloned often mean they don't exclusively belong to the one item and may be reused throughout the game, so you typically don't want to replace the texture itself.

I would clone with S3OC then use CTU to modify the texture IDs directly- in the Designs tab under Textures. (The preview may look strange because the tool doesn't have expansion support, but this wont affect the result.)
Right click and replace one of the bad specular with a 32px black square. Then right click > Edit to copy the ID of the new texture and paste it onto the other bad one. Then click Commit.
Paste it for both on each additional preset, too.

Save, not Save As, when you're done- as the latter would create a non-default.
You can then delete everything out of the package except the new texture and the CASP resource, as those are the only parts that will change.

AHHHH! I looked in both TSRW and s3oc, but didn't see anything. Thought it had to be a texture, but couldn't find it, and both looked ok in TSRW. Glad you showed up. I was going to @ you today.
