Ad Designs

Date Posted: 4th Oct 2012 at 10:24 AM

More pretty pics I made these as ads for a little magazine I work on.

This one is for a gifting club. If you don't know what that is you've never poked your head in the sims3 forums! People over there seem to love giving away their money (or Mum and Dad's money) and actually have organised clubs specifically for spending their RL money on gifting people store items...nuts, right? Anyway, I have no control over what the ads are for, I just get told what to write and make the pics

(BTW, my pink ladies are only sort of based on the real ones from the films).

This second one is for a huge lot. Wish I could've taken better pics to show off it off but it was chock-full of store items I don't have so just had to go with the creator's pics:

DOTY - Round 3

Date Posted: 13th Aug 2012 at 8:02 AM

And this is where I said good-bye to DOTY, or rather they booted me out Round 3 of 5. For this one we got to choose our own theme as long as it was based on a well known character. I struggled with this for ages (just tell me what to do and I'll do it, don't force me to make decisions for myself godammit! lol) then finally decided that as round one and two had, for me at least, been inspired by characters that had received the Tim Burton/Johnny Depp treatment then my third should be too. Sooo...

Round 3 theme: Willy wonka My version was kinda a mix of the old and the new though I've not actually seen the new one.

It's not my best work and not the best shot (I made too many angles with too many focal points spread out too far) ...but meh, it's not every day you create something so completely in the world of fantasy so it gets a place in the journal! lol

DOTY - Round 2

Date Posted: 13th Aug 2012 at 7:45 AM

DOTY contest, Round 2 theme: Alice (as in Alice in wonderland). When I started researching for this theme I came across the image below from American McGee's Alice and knew immediately I would not be doing a standard Alice theme :p

This was my favourite pic 'cause I love the way the rabbit's head turned out :p

...and this seems to be everyone else's:

I owe a massive thanks to Elexis who converted a whole bunch of CC for me and to SandyMDH who let me use a set of Alice themed paintings she'd made specifically for the round.

DOTY 2012

Date Posted: 13th Aug 2012 at 7:22 AM

So I entered this year's Designer of the year (DOTY) contest over at BPS. I didn't win, didn't even come close but I had fun doing it and think I produced some of my best work to date. These are my best pics from each round.

Round 1 theme: Vampires (can be any style but should look like a vampire could live there). Most folk did awesomely creepy, cob-webbed dungeons that fit the theme perfectly. I wanted to do that but at the same time, I didn't think I could better the entries that were already posted so I decided the only other way I could stand out was to to something unexpected. So I went retro gothic! lol ...or at least attempted to. My design was heavily inpired by a promo poster from the 70s-set Vampire movie, Dark Shadows (wasn't released in the cinema at the time but the trailers were out).

Intro :)

Date Posted: 11th Aug 2012 at 1:52 AM

So it's about time I started a journal. I do a lot of projects for different sites here and there and many never see the light of day so I'm gonna try to maintain this as a running log/portfolio of my creative endeavours rather than having lots of little mini-projects strewn all over the internet

I guess to start off I'll show something I made that was intended to be used on my profile page when I thought about making a bond style, secret agent theme, lol. Meh, I scrapped the idea but the information is still relevant and the pic is an older version of my self sim
