Small Wild Cats

Caracal: Caracal caracal. Found in the grasslands and scrub forests of northern Africa and Arabia. They are the fastest of the small felids and excellent climbers too.

Serval: Leptailurus serval. Found throughout Africa in grasslands and scrub forests. Servals have the proportionally longest legs and biggest ears of all cats. They communicate with growling, purring, and shrill cries.

Ocelot: Leopardus pardalis. Found in South American rainforests and known for their coats full of dazzling rosettes and striking contrast.

Lynx: Lynx sp. The genus Lynx is found in the nearctic and palearctic realms, most commonly in forest and tundra. Generally solitary animals, though females and young sometimes hunt cooperatively.

Fishing Cat: Prionailurus viverrinus. Native to central Asia in a forest or marsh habitat. They are among the largest of the small cats and feed on fish and shellfish.

Pallas' Cat: Felis manul. Native to mountainous and desert areas of central Asia. They are roughly the same size as domestic cats and den in other animals' burrows. Their voices sound more like a yelping dog than a meow.
