After watching Yoji Yamada’s samurai trilogy, I decided I wanted to try and make some authentic looking outfits for samurai. But I didn’t want them to look particularly fancy; just something a lower-ranking samurai might wear in the late Edo period of Japan’s history.

Using Portakal’s mesh, I used mostly Maxis textures to piece this together. Mind you, it’s not a true hakama—it’s more like a man-skirt. So don’t be too surprised when you make your samurai practice his tai chi. Moreover, I really have no idea how to tie a hakama, so this is just a best effort attempt. All outfits are binned under casual, but many are also binned under athletic, formal, or outerwear. The model’s hair in these photos is also by Portakal at Garden of Shadows (free).

You will need to download Portakal’s Mesh for this outfit to work.
