Default Lot mostly dark with black boxes
For reference I am an UC player. I am using Windows 11, an Intel(R) Celeron(R) N5095A @ 2.00GHz 2.00 GHz processor, 16 GB ram (it says 15.8 usable), Intel(R) UHD Graphics card (128 MB).
Hopefully that was all of the needed pre-information.

My lots have been miscolored on the outside, a majority of the grass darker than other patches. As well as blacked out areas in some lots. I tried installing dreadpirate's MM shader mod, hoping that would help with my issue but no luck, I've also tried lazydutchess' lot lighting mod with no luck as well. I looked through all of my other mods assuming those could be the issue, but I didn't have any other lighting mods, other than lazydutchess' bright CAS fix. I tried taking out all mods anyways with no luck or change. I made a new save file (renamed the original causing a new one to regenerate) and the problem persisted, even with a brand new, clean save. Turning off shadows doesn't fix nor really change anything, and any changes in general in the graphics settings of the game doesn't change anything. Everything else works completely fine, my only problem has been the lot lighting. I've asked around just about everywhere trying to find a solution, but no dice, so I made an account to post here . I hope this was descriptive enough, if not I will answer anything else needed; I have several save files for the game and this is the first time I've ever encountered this issue, so I'm really hoping for some help here! Screenshots will be attached below, thank you so much

It's a light issue that sometimes happens. Often becauseof a missing light/window, but also a bit randomly.
If lights or a window are missing in a room, make sure to put one in first.

If the issue is still persisting, try to pick up the window, lamp and furniture, and either click ESC or place it down in the same spot.

Thank you so much, that fixed all of my indoor lighting issues! However the outdoor lighting issue persists, even with trying to place lights all around outside! Do you possibly have an idea as to what that issue could be, or do I just accept my messed up grass now xD
Either way thank you!! All these years of playing and you'd think I could've at least thought to try that!

Did this happen before you installed the lighting mods?
If not, tempted to say the outdoor light issues are probably from not properly installing the mod (make sure to read all instructions, install items in the proper places, and if there are some files to choose between, make sure you've only put in one of them), or there's something left from one mod when you try another. Some lighting mods also require various cheats active in the UserStartup file.

No, this wasn't an issue before. I've followed the mods uninstallation instructions and replaced the games original lighting files, I removed the userstartup file, and completely uninstalled scriptorium to try and ensure the lighting would go fully back to normal. The pitch black boxes are gone but it's still darker in some areas outside than it would usually be. I've individually went through my files to see if there was anything out of place, and the only thing I noticed was a Lighting folder with a Lighting package last updated in 2015, and not in the early 2000s like each other original file, but I can't find anything online about that lighting package. I currently have it so custom content is disabled in my game and I have no custom content currently installed. Disabling shadows in-game still doesn't really affect anything. I am at a loss

The UserStartup file should be in your files, so don't delete it, just edit it instead.

If you use the Ultimate Collection (the original Origin/EAapp version), this one was last updated in 2015 (I think?), so it's possible that lighting file has the correct date. If you let me know which file in which folder, I can check for you (assuming it's one I haven't edited with a mod, that is - but I have the original backup files, so should be able to check anyway).

You could try installing the mod manually and see if that works better. It's possible something isn't installing properly with the Scriptorium (Depends on the UC and the mod, I guess?). I'm using one of Dreadpirate's mods, and don't have the same issues (installed manually).

D:\The Sims 2 Starter Pack\Double Deluxe\Base\TSData\Res\Lighting is where the file is from, it's just titled lighting.package and was last edited 1/14/2015. I redownloaded the shaders as directed and still no change, though the shaders are working fine on the inside. This problem has only been with outside lighting, the insides of all lots look fine but the outsides of every lot are messed up. I seriously do not know what the issue could possibly be

Osab's pack (or similar?) - Could be the Scriptorium isn't working properly with that one (but haven't used Scriptorium in ages, so been a while since I've read up on how it works...)

Mine has the same date, so it's likely not supposed to be edited with the mods.

Just a stray thought, but have you tried to pick the lot up and place it back down again? Possibly rotate it or move it somewhere else, just to see if it changes anything? (don't put in lot bin, just pick/place).

Yes, I'm using Osabs's pack. I currently have Scriptorium uninstalled; though in the past scriptorium worked fine with the shaders, so I don't think that would've been the problem. I just tried moving lots, rotating them, just picking up and hitting esc, and pulling one from the lot bin still with no luck I really appreciate all the help you have been giving me, though :-)
