What an interesting tool! Thank you Mootilda for another great contribution

If I may, I'd like to give directions for the AnyGameStarter users.
This tool definitely CAN be used with the AnyGameStarter (I know that many lot builder create lots in "clean" AnyGames...). You just have to start the tool and select "Browse..." on the second page; then select the file:
"(Documents)\AnyGameStarter\AnyGameX\EA Games\The Sims 2\Neighborhoods\NNNN\NNNN_Neighborhood.package"
(where "AnyGameX" is one of the installed AnyGames, and "NNNN" is the code of the chosen neighborhood: in a clean mini-game, there is only the neighborhood N009).

Remember to select the NNNN_Neighborhood.package file: you can't just select the folder containing the chosen neighborhood.

I've finally started my Journal. Information only, no questions.

My latest activity: CEP 9.2.0! - AnyGameStarter 2.1.1 (UPD) - Scriptorium v.2.2f - Photo & Plaques hide with walls - Magazine Rack (UPD) - Animated Windows Hack (UPD) - Custom Instrument Hack (UPD) - Drivable Cars Without Nightlife (UPD) - Courtesy Lights (FIX) - Custom Fence-Arches - Painting-TV - Smarter Lights (UPD)

I *DON'T* accept requests, sorry.

This may be a dumb question but...

Whenever I build lots with basements, I find it hard to actually use the space, because the foundation "walls" are solid and don't come down in viewing.

Could one use this conversion tool to build a basement, then replace the foundation walls with actuall walls, thus allowing you to fully view the downstairs as you would the above-ground portions of the house? If you did replace foundation walls in this manner, would you then still have terrain which wasn't levelled? (As you know, walls require level terrain but foundations adjust to whatever your terrain height might be.)

Anyway, I like that you're always creating things like the Lot Adjustor (which I use a great deal of the time! *grin*), so thank you for all your efforts in improving our games! :-)

writerchick,

yes, that's exactly where the usefulness of this comes in. Current (now outdated) workaround would be (have been) to recreate the foundation from normal walls, so that they go down in walls-down view, but now you can just change the wall type without having to rebuild anything.

This is freaking awesome on a stick! :-D

Now if we could get the same kind of thing working for the Mansion and Gardens sloped roof pieces to make them see-through for interior viewing, but "solid" for exterior appearances...

Okay, a girl can dream, right? ;-)

I know what you mean. I just can't believe that EA provided these roof pieces, then destroyed their ability to be used for "real" attics. After all, the whole reason that Mansard roofs came into being was to provide the largest possible livable attic space:

I don't want Numenor's AnyGame instructions to get overlooked once you get a lot of comments in this thread. Could you please add a small note in the Overview saying there are instructions for using this sweet tool with AnyGame in the first Comments post? Thanks.

Yay for usable basements! :D

I enhanced the "Instructions" section and added a note there. Hope this is what you were looking for.

This may turn out to be one of the most useful tools yet! I'm impressed. Actually, I think I may be developing a crush. Terms like fangirl, glomping and such are being tempted to be used from an otherwise unglomping, unfannish sort. I think I may just squee!

I must say, at first I wondered how this tool could be useful to me, and now with all these comments new ideas come to mind. But the most awesome was rescuing a corrupted lot that TS2 has refused to load since the early days of the original game (Oct '04) which repeatedly crashed the game during load. For a long time I suspected that the problem with the lot was a structural error generated during the gamesave. After all this years now I'm able to play it again thanks to this program, I don't know how but Convertiwall fixed it. Mootilda, what is the 8-digit hex number at the end of the top list for? It's different for every lot.

I don't know. The location that stores the Wall IDs in the lot package also sometimes contains GUIDs, which I don't understand at this time. In version 1.1, I have removed those GUIDs from the list. The top list now contains *only* the Wall IDs which are actually on your lot.

I've actually been surprised at the response to this program. While I wrote it for my own use, I didn't think that there would be many other people who would be interested. So, I'm glad that people are finding it helpful.

Fixed. New version 1.2 now available.
