This sounds excellent but to me its such a shame that it conflicts with Squinge's mod I have in the past both adopted sims from playable families using midge's give up for adoption mod and used Squinge's mod to have more choice over randomly generated adoptable sims, plus the townies it makes adoptable may have memories it would be a shame to lose

BellaDovah, Squinge's mod prevents you from adopting children from the adoption pool, so I'm not sure how those mods would work together. Do townies ever actually wind up with memories and families that you would want to preserve?

It's possible that someone can townify adoption pool children. I'm not sure if anybody did this outside of my experiments. Midge also has intructions to change Squinge's mod for the adoption pool, but I'm not sure how many people use that either.

@Kestrellyn Thank you for your time to make this mod very much. I need a bid of your help here my brain is on ice.
The more I read all your notes the more confuse I become. 1. Ok if I want the child to keep his or her memory and who their family once was which file do I need?

I also wonder if the family that gave them away is even worth the poor child to remember them. 2. Or should I get the file that keep the child memory without including the former parents who gave them up for some reason?
Gee I am so Confuse. which is best for me ??? for the first and second questions.

If you want both the memories and the family ties to stay, get noadoptionmemoryloss.package.

In my specific case, I was planning to move playable children from an orphanage and into adoption pool as needed. I didn't want my child Sims to lose memories of friends from the orphanage.

We (meaning me and my fiancée in our rotational neighbourhood) do this quite a lot since our town has a daycare/orphanage where Romance Sims rejects, orphans from Death by Childbirth, and Social Worker pick-ups go. (We have a lot of tragedies. Don't enquire further. )
This daycare is included in the rotation, so the children build friendships there; the memories of these times and the original family ties is what I'd love to retain with this new mod, but I too use Squinge's teen/townie adoption mod and I'm sad I can't use them together.

Hm I'm feeling a bit stumped actually, I definitely use both Squinge's & Midge's mod together, and have had playable sims give children up for adoption that then another family have adopted, but I'm not completely sure how I did it, I can't really remember...I think I may well have turned the adoptee children into townies and done it that way as others have mentioned. And I'm just thinking that with regular townies, they may have made friends with other sims and things like that so it would be cool if they still kept those memories. Its not a huge deal, as I'm used to having to manually re-add lost memories somewhere around the young adult stage, I think when I make a dormie playable they lose their memories despite using the no townie memory loss mod (unless its when I age them up from teens to young adults or young adults to adults or both...wow my memory is terrible lol!)

Am I correct in assuming this mod makes it show the adoptee's birth family in their family tree? I wasn't sure if it replaces those Sims with the Sim or Sims who adopted the child and only sets the family flag for their birth family.

No, it doesn't show them on the family tree, and also doesn't set the regular EA family flag for them. It just marks them as family with the Found Family mod.

Hi I was just wondering about two things

1) is this mod compatible with the extended family mod (I have the version that is compatible with the found family hack)

2) will there be issues if a sim is adopted by say their aunt, etc. basically just someone already in the family tree? like can a sim be marked by the found family mod and EA at the same time?

This hack doesn't modify any of the family code. Just get (or keep using) the version of the found family hack that's compatible with extended family. There's no problem with sims that are already related in EA ways getting marked as found family.

Hi, just asking: is there a way that a sim can opt to choose "no character" as a second parent for adoptees? I really like that your Name the Father mod lets you do that, but with the choose adoptive parent mod it's not an option - if I cancel the choice box, it sets parent 2 as one of the adopter's partners anyway. I'd also like to have this option for sims with only one partner - my game is strictly matrilineal and polyandrous, and it doesn't feel right singling out any partner as parent 2, even if there's just the one.

If you cancel the dialog, there should be no second parent. Are you sure you also have noadoptionmemoryloss installed in addition to the mod to choose the second parent?

I do, and when I cancel the dialog, it still sets a second parent. Maybe I need to run HCDU?

Thanks for responding
