I'm testing both mods out and so far I like them, but before I get too far, I'd like to know if there is something simple I can tweak in SimPE to make summer vacation happen in the 3rd season. I'd like to use this vacation mod rather than the other one so I can keep Winter's Day, but having summer in season 2 doesn't make much sense for my neighborhood. Thanks.

I think if you open it up you can find a few lines that reference 'quad 1' and make it say 'quad 2' instead (the first one is 'quad 0'). That should be enough. It's been a while since I was working on this, but I think it should be easy enough. Good luck, and let me know if that's not enough to switch it.

I love you! :-D Looking forward to trying this out (along with your calenders + holidays, which I adore) when I've finished setting up my new 'hood :-)

I do have a question though. With your help, I have edited your calenders slightly to change some of the days (for my own use only, obviously) so that they fit better with the way I play. According to my calender, Winter's Day is on the 3rd day of the 4th season, not the 4th day of the 4th season. Are the changes required to change Winter's Day to the 3rd day for your summer vacation mod something that I may be able to do myself with your permission and instructions on how to do it?

(This is kind of a weird "may I do it, and if I may, how do I do it" all rolled into one sentence - I hope it makes some vague kind of sense to you! Probably doesn't help that it's just gone 4am here and I really should be asleep.....)

If not it's no big deal really, I can always change Winter's Day back to the 4th day :-) Thank you for sharing this mod, I'm looking forward to trying it! :-)

As long as its for personal use, I'll gladly tell anyone how to do anything with my mods. It's your game after all!

It should be about as easy as it was to change the calendar itself, I made that and this at the same time, so likely used the same code. If you open it up and get confused, let me know and I'll look at it again.

When I was originally making the calendar I kept going back and forth between Winter's Day being the 3rd or 4th day, so I'm not surprised. Eventually it all game down to how the 365 days fell into 20 groups. Christmas and New Years are so close together they ended up in the same day, but I didn't want that, so it got moved to the 4th instead of the 5th. The other problem I had was not putting January at the end of the year in winter, so that was fudged a bit. Getting strictly technical (and less about what actually makes sense) Winter's Day should be on the 3rd and New Years on the 4th. I chose to ignore that and stick New Years right where it would be bringing in the New Year.

Anyway, prolly tl;dr, but yes, by all means make it how you want it!

Thank you :-) I opened it up in SimPE but it makes no sense to me whatsoever! :-) I seem to be at the stage of SimPE usage where I can follow instructions to make changes but I don't really understand what I'm doing or why I'm doing it! If you have time would you be able to write out some step by step instructions I can try and follow, to change the Winter's Day holiday from the 4th to the 3rd please? :-)

I thought a lot about what changes I wanted to make to the calender, if any, and in the end I decided to pretty much ignore the RL calender/seasons etc and just go with what seemed right to me! So I have New Year's Eve on the 5th day of the 4th quad, like you, because it makes sense to have the 1st day of the 1st quad as the start of the new year, so that's down as New Year's Day. So then I fiddled round with the other days to space them out a bit more. Lover's Day is on the 3rd day of the first quad. Then there's a gap 'til the 3rd day of the 2nd quad, Nation's Day - for picnics and bonfires and things, and because I didn't want summer to be as empty as it is in the UK! Then a bigger gap until Spooky Day on the 4th of the 3rd. The Winter's Eve on the 2nd of the 4th and Winter's Day on the 3rd of the 4th, because I wanted a day's gap between Winter's Day and New Year's Eve. When I started thinking about it I got a bit obsessed with the whole thing!

The vacation mod is absolutely wonderful, I wondered for a long time why Sim kids don't have a summer vacation.

I wonder if anyone uses the Vacation mod along with Pescado's Director's Cut, 'cos there's that mod, AL fixes, and it possibly conflicts with this Vacations mod (Hack Detector Utility says so), I'm unsure if I should play with these two mods installed together.

I'm pretty sure I've got most of Pes' DC in my game- alfixes included. I haven't seen any issues with it. If something goes strange, try swapping the load order on the two.

Phaenoh can you please help me ...

I download this a while back and it worked fine, I recently had to reinstall my game and for some reason its not working anymore ... I have all EP's and Stuff packs except Happy Holiday and Manson and Garden.

It was in a subfolder in the download section but I moved it and still no such luck, any help please.

If you had to reinstall your game, did you save all your downloads? Is my file back in your new game's download folder? What OS are you running?

Yes, I saved my downloads folder but I didn't reuse it, I created a new one. I moved only the downloads I wanted from the old folder to the new one ...

I re-downloaded the mod because I thought the reason it wasn't working was because I cut and pasted it to the folder not extracted it but still no such luck.

I also had it in a sub folder, but moved it back in downloads thinking that was the problem and nope, nothing.

Any idea what I'm doing wrong ?

Nope, no idea. How do you know it isn't working, and can you copy and paste the exact directory path of your new downloads folder? Are you using XP, Vista, W7, or 8? Or mac?

When I go into the game, the aging for the sims is still maxis default.

I have The Sims 2 Double Deluxe so my downloads folder is placed differently, it goes like this ...

EA Games > The Sims 2 Double Deluxe > Downloads

I'm using Windows 7 by the way ...

Sims WON'T AGE!
Hey Phaenoh! I have a problem- I downloaded the summer vacation mod but when I started playing the game, my sims stopped aging. I tried using 'aging on' and it didn't work. I have inteen but its in a separate folder apart from yours in my downloads. I can't seem to find the problem as to why my sims will not age. I don't have your other mod but I will download that and see if it fixes my problem so that they will age (hopefully). They should be aging at 6pm everyday but they don't and its weird and need help! I use sethour alot so I don't know if that has to do with anything. I tried playing the game without using sethour to see if that was the problem but it wasn't. Help?

They are supposed to age *every day*? You sound like you have a lot more than my mod going on in your game. We've had some issues with inTeen and they were (from what we can tell) worked out as long as the load order is correct. I don't use sethour much (like ever) so I don't know how that could be effecting this, but it really shouldn't. Can you try removing all of your other mods from the game except mine and inTeen and testing it again? (don't save so your game won't mind all the other hacks going missing for this test) If that works, the conflict is with something else and I recommend using the half and half method to find the conflicting mod. However, if it didn't work take out inTeen as well and see if that helps. If your sims still don't age and the only mod you have in your game is mine, then there is a big problem with my mod and I will work on straightening it out. I really don't expect that to be the case and I very much would like to know what the conflicting mod is so I can either make a fix or at least put a warning up to other users. Thank you for reporting this!

I deleted your mod and for some reason, they are still not aging. I only had your mod and inteen and before I downloaded yours, I had inteen and my sims aged just fine. It will skip 6pm and the sims won't age. I will do my best to see if I can delete inteen and re-download it. I don't really know how this is happening. Its not really a big deal. I usually just cheat anyways and set them to the next stage.

I honestly have no idea why that is happening, but my mod has nothing to do with 6pm or the clock. I'm sorry you are having trouble, but aside from your plan of reinstalling inTeen, I can't think of what else to suggest.

WHOA. Another golden mod! I really hated how adults became elders rapidly, that's why I make my sims eat cheesecakes all the time to get twins if i want a large family-or get a regular dosage of elixir of life

And the summer vacation mod, it's so cool! And I think it applies to teens too? Then being an overachiever won't make them zombies as much as they have to do before Just make sure it's summer, attend the class today, and take a rest tomorrow. Haha. Thank You Thank You !

Just wanted to say how much I really like this mod - the lifespan is perfect and it plays nicely with ACR and fertility; I'm loving the summer vacation for children. I've been testing it in my Island hood where there is no winter - just spring, summer, summer and Fall. Children go to school spring and fall. This works perfectly and my stay at home mom's get to spend more time with the children and have more control over their skilled learning. Thanks again for making this and sharing it.

I hope this won't be considered a double post - I was wondering about the Winter vacation day - the notification pop up came when my Sim was already at school - I believe it was about 1 p.m - is that normal?
