Today I would like to present to you the sixth entry (also the last entry) of my creations for MTS’ Multicultural Create Competition—A classic Chinese style house, the kind that you can find in China. For thousands of years Chinese have adored red, gold and jade green, these are the must have colors in a classic Chinese house. In addition, Chinese also use brown and black when decorating their houses. However, Chinese do not use a lot of white in their houses because white is the color of funerals. All classic Chinese houses are built with a rectangular shape; therefore, they tend to look boxy by Mod the Sims’ standards. This is the way Chinese have built their houses for thousands of years, because a square (a special case of rectangular shape) consumes the least amount of building material and gives the maximum living space.
An exact copy of the same house I present to you today is currently owned by Pearl Patch and Carl Creelman of Whistling Bamboo (one of my neighborhoods), they purchased Treasure Lotus for one reason…
The history of Treasure Lotus goes way back to the late Ming Dynasty (about 1600 CE), it was built as a kung fu training academy (the training field was where the lake and bridges are now), a group of high level kung fu monks lived there and trained pupils in kung fu. The school’s kung fu master monk named Gao Fa Shi had a scroll that contained all the monk style kung fu secrets. He was following the monk tradition that the top kung fu secret could only be passed on to the righteous human, i.e. a person who is extremely intelligent and extremely kind. Because one must be extremely intelligent to learn the last most difficult skill, and one must be extremely kind so that he will not use it on anyone. This last skill was so powerful that if one exercises it, everyone within the burst radius of 8 meters will be hurt, i.e. those without any kung fu training will die instantly, those with low level kung fu training will fall unconscious, those with good kung fu training will suffer from internal injury, and those with high kung fu training will be pushed 10 meters away. That was why Gao Fa Shi seldom mentioned the existence of such powerful kung fu technique and the dragon scroll to anyone.
During the construction of the Treasure Lotus, Gao Fa Shi requested that the top tier of the lotus tower be built without any stairs leading to it, Gao Fa Shi reserved this tier to all by himself, he liked to read, study, and mediated there when he was not teaching. Toward the end of his life, Gao Fa Shi spent more and more time on that tier for reasons people couldn’t understand. It was speculated that he hid the dragon scroll in that tier, it was speculated that he never found the righteous human to pass on this top secret kung fu to. Years went by, Dynasties changed, people had forgotten Gao Fa Shi, and the dragon scroll story has become a legend. So Treasure Lotus became a tourist place, since then it has been remodeled several times. The latest and the biggest reconstruction happened in the year of 2000, the Chinese golden dragon year. The city government of Whistling Bamboo overspent so much on constructing this artificial lake that it went into deficit. The government decided to put it on auction. Pearl Patch and Carl Creelman, both pharmaceutical entrepreneurs, were rich enough and passionate about history enough to win the auction and ended up owning this historic place. They then remodeled the interior somewhat to suit their living needs (more on that later**). According to the reporters, Pearl and Carl since then have made several trips to Takemizu Village, apparently to learn how to teleport. The reporters then asked: “Isn’t it simpler just to build stairs instead of learning how to teleport?”. The couple replied that they did not want to ruin the beautiful floor above it. Ever since they moved in, they have had dreams of the dragon scroll while sleeping, they began to believe that the whole story of the dragon scroll might not be just a legend. Legend or not, there is only one way for your sims to find out, so download Treasure Lotus and look for the dragon scroll.
**Before the one child policy was implemented in China, every Chinese family had no less than 4 kids, actually, the more the better, Pearl and Carl re-modeled the interior of this house so that it can accommodate 3 generations, that’s right, this 3x3 lot house has 6 bedrooms and 4 full baths.
Final note 1: The left side of the house (as seen facing front) was intentionally left blank so that you can place a driveway there if you want to buy a car.
Final note 2: When my sims saw a house full of bushes and flowerbeds, they got scared just by thinking of the maintenance, because the gardener comes only once every 3 days. Since this house was built without the aid of custom content (specifically plastic flowers and the likes), having 25 items that need to be maintained in the current yard is as low as I could reduce it to to keep the environment interesting. If your sims hate yard work, feel free to get rid of the real plants and replace them with plastic ones; on the other hand, if your sims love gardening, there is room for you to add more plants.
Final note 3: As seen from picture 2 and 11, there is a willow tree in the back yard by the lake, and it is the tallest and the biggest tree on this lot. This is a signature tree of Chinese culture, because willow trees provided a lot of inspiration to Chinese poets and artists for composing beautiful poems and paintings. Lake and willow tree are always together, and this is the perfect spot for it on this lot, if you want to redo the back yard, try not to move the tree away from the lake, otherwise, it will lose its purpose.
Finally, I would like to acknowledge Phaenoh for holding the Multicultural Create Competition, without the event, I probably would not have created and uploaded so much Chinese stuff and tried to explain the Chinese culture to people.

- You may want to use the Sims2Pack Clean Installer instead of the game's installer, which will let you install sims and pets which may otherwise give errors about needing expansion packs. It also lets you choose what included content to install. Do NOT use Clean Installer to get around this error with lots and houses as that can cause your game to crash when attempting to use that lot. Get S2PCI here: Clean Installer Official Site.

About Me
Dear Users:
Thanks for trying my custom creations, I 100% support my uploads. All my stuff has been tested extensively to make sure it is problem free, the time I spent on testing each upload was probably equal to or more than the time I spent on making them. To view the comprehensive procedures of how I conduct my quality control tests, go to my journal. I hope your sims enjoy my stuff as much as my sims do. Many thanks to people who have encouraged me and have added my uploads to their favorite downloads or have selected me as one of their favorite creators. Thanks and happy simming.
