Magnolia Court Retirement Village (No CC)

It was brought to my attention that the two units on the right are both missing bedroom doors. Sorry for the inconvenience.

So there are no Magnolias in this lot, but Bread Tree Court or Lupin Court just didn't have the same ring to it lol. We can imagine it does have beautiful flowering magnolias, the same way we can imagine elder sims playing lawn bowls on the bowling green at the far back corner.

Edit: I noticed the apartment mailbox was clipping into the brick fence a bit so I moved it a little to the left. I think it was still usable but wanted to be sure. New file uploaded.

This is a small upmarket retirement village with a lot of landscaping and walking paths. Fresh air, sunshine and walking have proven health benefits to elder folk. There are many benches dotted around so grandpa can take a rest. The wide paths and ground level buildings were designed with wheelchairs in mind. This isn't a care facility though, elders here keep their independence with self-contained units.

The Units

All have the same floor plan but are flipped around so the front doors all face into the middle garden area. Each one has one of the country wallpapers. Burgandy, pale green, pale yellow and pink. Slightly different decore in each but the same furniture.
1 double bedroom with wardrobe.
The bathroom has a shower/tub. Maxis does not have a very nice combo so this does not match the rest of the decor. I have this lot up as residential should you want to change anything like that first. I didn't think a claw foot bath suitable for the elderly, they can be very high.
Full kitchen with a trash compactor.
eating area with 4 chairs so they can invite their friends over easily.
Sitting area with love seat, TV and bookcase.
All units have smoke and burglar alarms and table phones.
The units do not come with computers but remove the coat rack and a 1 tile computer desk could go there.

Units cost between $1,457 to $2,148. The two front units have larger gardens.
Talking of unit gardens, these are mostly just grass with just a few plants to look after. Since this is part of their unit they can add what they like out there. Each unit also comes with a small BBQ on a paved back patio area. Do tell grandma to be careful as there are no smoke detectors out there.

The Club House

This has a dining area on the left. They will have to pay for the buffet though. Sims will probably take plates back to their units to wash up even though there are bathroom sinks in the clubhouse itself.
The main area has a stage with a piano and microphone
A bingo area
a Mahjong area.
bookcase and stereo

In my mind they would push the game items back and use the area for dancing or bring the chairs forward to watch someone play or sing on the stage. Unfortunately, things can't be changed around in the community area on apartment lots so this is another thing for our imaginations. They do have room to dance to the stereo though and sims will sit on the two side chairs to watch someone play the piano and all the bingo chairs can be used to play bingo. Did you know they can sit and play? I just found that out.

Outside

The garden area has 2 chess sets and 4 painting easels.
On the right side of the clubhouse is a swimming pool with a diving board for fit elders. Please do be careful diving!
There are handy bathrooms directly off the pool area. The angled pool recliner is only for show since it can't be used on the angle.
On the left is the bowling green with 2 golf putters and undercover seating with weather resistant comfy chairs.
There are two quiet areas set up for elders to chat while listening to the far east fountain. I think this is enough running water around elders...

The residential zoned lot is identical to the apartment lot except for different front doors.
It can be changed to an apartment easily by typing 'changeLotZoning apartmentbase' in the cheat window.

Playtested with a copy.

This is really a cute lot with 4 very appealing, tasteful furnished houses including a meeting building and a lovely styled garden, made for recreation and hobby! Thank you so much for sharing it with us!

Thanks for the lot. BTW, Chris Hatch has a mod that allows for elder retirement homes. He's at mamba city now.

Thanks, glad you like it.

@Osana26 you might be thinking of his Senior'sCentre which is a day out type of scenario. They leave, have fun and return home in the blue van. He's also right here as an active member of MTS.

I love how well planned and laid out this is, and how thoroughly planted and decorated. I'm downloading the residential version so I can send elder sims there in large groups to enjoy their retirement in a hands-off sort of way - lots of mah jong and chatting together, and no more going to work or skilling! They'll love it.

Feedback on the layout: the two units on the right are both missing bedroom doors! It took me an embarrassingly long time to figure out why my elders kept ending up sleeping in odd places!

I just looked and you are absolutely right. Don't know how I overlooked that. I will add it to the description, thanks for letting me know.

I've been looking for something like this to use with Chris Hatch's retirement home birdbath. I look forward to trying this out.

I would be interested to know how that goes.

My playable sim refuses to eat in the community dining room. He takes food from the buffet table and immediately heads back to his own apartment to eat it. I tried removing the centerpieces from the tables, but that didn't seem to make any difference.

Chris Hatch's mod seems to be working okay. My test sim hasn't lived in the place long enough to really see the effects of it because I wanted to try get the dining room working first.

EDIT: Chris Hatch's mod works just fine with this lot. Oddly, when my test sim's family came over for a visit, they were perfectly happy to eat in the public dining room. Only the playable sims that actually live on that lot refuse to eat there (townie neighbors just go into their apartments to "recharge"). I think I have one of those mods that defines where sims are allowed to eat - I wonder if that might be causing my problem.
